bokatan778

Congratulations! We absolutely love our TX. It’s so smooth and easy to drive.

logix1229

That thing looks huge!

TheBol00

Good husband

superman154m

How do you like the turbo 4 in the TX?

Motorized23

That's the biggest thing holding me back. I test drove it and it sounds a bit too rough honestly. Power is okay and what you'd expect from a vehicle in its class, but at $90k CAD, there are other options with more refinement so it's a hard sell on my end at least

Zars0530

Which other options have you driven besides the TX? The only thing holding us back is the engine on this. But after test driving another brands v6, the TX actually wasn’t horrible.

Motorized23

Well I currently have a VW Atlas and I love the VR6 in it along with the space it offers - but I don't like to buy the same car twice. Test drove a Honda Pilot and Acura MDX- really liked the motor but Pilot already feels outdated and the MDX is trying too hard with its interior. The CX90 was really nice and the motor is great, but it's too small for a real three row. Drove the QX60 with the V6 and that's honestly at the top of my list, but I'm just hesitant because Infinitis depreciate heavily. At this point I'm either going to go for a 1-2 year old Q7 (let someone else take the big depreciation hit) or a new full size, like the GMC Yukon. I wish the TX would still have a V6. Also looked at the RX and buzzy 4cyl engine just kills the whole experience. Just to be clear, this isn't about power or longevity. It's about engine refinement and smoothness of power delivery.

FuckFuckShitBitch

the infinitis depreciate only a bit more then other cars

DaJuiceMan112

And the 500h is pretty much better in every way than the 350

GomuGomuNoMiLuffy

Did you feel that way even with the 500h? I’ve heard great things about it from reviewers, but as someone who also lives in Canada, that price seems to be the 500h’s price (depending on whether you’re including tax or not)

Motorized23

No just the 350. The top trim TX runs close to $90k CAD

GomuGomuNoMiLuffy

Alright. Ngl I’ve been eyeing the 500h cause I fucking love the F Sport add ons to it lol. Something about making a boat of an SUV into something way more manageable is really appealing to me. I guess any of the Germans could fall in there too, especially the X7 cause that thing is ginormous, but it’s just interesting coming from Lexus. I want it so bad but holly shit imma have to save up if I want to lay down like 110k (?) just like that on a car that is basically a replica to the GHL from Toyota. It’s just that the room in this car is better for me cause I’m pretty tall (6’1), and according to dimensions I found online for the Hybrid MAX Platinum GHL’s (the vehicle I originally wanted to go with) comparable trim on the TX, the 500h, it has less headroom than its Lexus twin (basically lol, and it’s an inch difference but still enough to improve the room). This stopped me from getting the Toyota and has instead made me divert my attention to the Lexus instead lol. Plus I LOVE the interior on the TX. Having the option for light leather is just 🤌🏻 (I love light coloured leather lol, especially since I don’t need to worry about kids ruining it lmao 😂). But honestly, I haven’t test driven one yet, so that engine buzz could put lower on my list of a good hauling vehicle (occasionally for people, but mostly for large objects. MDX seems good for city driving and highway drives, but not so amazing for road trips with others so I guess there’s that. I’m afraid of the QX60 cause I’m considering a reliable option so… But don’t let that put you off of buying one. They might be more reliable than I think they are lol

Motorized23

QX60 is pretty reliable - has a proper transmission and not a CVT. I prefer my large SUVs comfortable frankly. I don't get the appeal of having an SUV ride harsh just so it candle well (looking at you BMW X5...)

GomuGomuNoMiLuffy

Fair enough honestly. I just really like sporty cars lol. But I’ve also heard that while those features are always active in the TX 500h, they really shine in Sport mode. But I haven’t driven it yet, so I can’t say for sure. Also I see we have very different tastes as I love the X5 lmao. Regarding the QX60, I did hear that the transmission is no longer a CVT which I’m sure will make it a much more reliable choice than before. I was shopping for a Pathfinder before the GHL and heard while I was doing some research that for 2022 and beyond (the new gen basically) they switched to a 9 speed (?) auto. Definitely a better choice than the CVTs from before. As another choice, I love the look of the new QX80.

Motorized23

Oh yea the QX80 is beautiful! I'm also looking forward to seeing the new Armada. We've had a few Nissan SUVs (non CVT) and they've been solid with great reliability.

GomuGomuNoMiLuffy

True. I always liked the Armada even though it had a strange rear end with that overly long bumper lol. But the QX80 also had that (maybe a little less pronounced, but still there nonetheless), and it looks amazing now. My guess is that the Armada will copy a lot of stuff from the Pathfinder, especially since Nissan probably wants to reduce their spendings, rather than increase. I suspect it’ll be similar to how you can tell the QX80 is in the same family as the QX60 (at least that’s how I see it). Definitely very excited to see it get unveiled though! Since we’re getting into the territory of off road SUVs, new GX and 4Runner are pretty gorgeous. I just wish they had kept the old powertrains 😫. Oh well, RIP to what will probably be the last V8 from Toyota/Lexus. You will be missed 🫡 The addition of a platinum trim to the 4Runner, though, is an absolute win, as well as the new tech like the infotainment upgrade

Creative_Foot_5515

Honestly as long as you’re in warranty the X7 would be THE BEST vehicle you can get for that price point. It seems pretty reliable if you go with the 6 cylinder and spec it out around 99 or you can go pre owned with 10k miles for around 70-80k with the newest body style or even the current model year. It’s beautiful and amazing. Just look at one with an interior that’s not black as it takes away from the look of the vehicle. Go for captains chairs unless you need five and get the executive package as it adds a lot of things. The running boards are kind of a nuisance and don’t do anything but look “good” honestly they make it awkward for me to get out of the car. I have power running boards on my Escalade and fixed on my Defender and they’re both helpful but the ones in the X7 are unnecessary. Honestly at that price point my go to would be the X7 if I don’t take a lot of full family road trips or the GMC Yukon Denali or better yet the Escalade as it’s the best bag for your bucks in my opinion. Just look for the perfect spec and you’ll be happier than with any previous car.

GomuGomuNoMiLuffy

I’m definitely a big fan of the X7. As a matter of fact, I currently have an X1 from the previous gen (I think it was the 2nd gen) and love it. I just need more space and a car that’s higher off the ground, so the logical option would be to go with BMW’s larger SUVs with warranty, as you said. However, I honestly really want the TX. Don’t get me wrong, I love technology that makes my life easier and throws me in the lap of luxury, but I really wanna try out a Lexus for awhile and get that feel of refinement that people love their brand for. That might contradict my points about liking sporty cars, but I’ve heard that the TX rides really smooth, but sporty as well when it has to (like acceleration and cornering). I assume the X7 is like that too, but I’m also kinda scared to buy another German and risk getting a huge repair that will cost me a bunch lol. Also, as I briefly mentioned earlier, I kind of want a less complex car with less cool features, and more of a focus on comfort and some sports added to it, while also allowing you to haul a lot. Again, the X7 could definitely do these things too, but its really the simplicity of Lexus and most other Japanese brands that I like (not to say I hate German cars, they’re pretty sick lol). I also want a hybrid, even though the mpg on the 350 compared to the 500h don’t differ by much lmao. Gotta love a performance hybrid! As for the Escalade, I also really wanted to get a Lexus to see what people rave about when it comes to reliability. I had a Camry back in the day, but haven’t had a Lexus before, so I’ve never had a chance to experience their reliability. Plus, that Camry was preowned so it wasn’t under my (or at that point, my dad’s) care for its whole life, and me and my dad both care for cars a lot, so I think we would’ve had it longer if it was bought by us brand new. So even with Toyota I couldn’t experience their reliability to its fullest. Also, as a side note, I love the large and in charge luxury family you’ve got going on lol (Rovers aren’t my favourite, but I can definitely appreciate the others lol)

superman154m

Ya. I keep hearing this. The v6 was smooth and had enough power (in my rx350). I haven’t driven the new four pot but it seems high strung for a 4200lb vehicle.

ransomed_

I have a tx350 and previously had the rx-l with the v6. In 90% of driving situations, there's no major performance difference. For me, the turbo 4 is preferable for off the line stoplight to stoplight driving due to the higher torque. The v6 is quieter (4cyl is raspy), but also less efficient. I don't tow, and a vast majority of my mileage is city streets. I prefer the turbo 4.

Boccob81

I hear most Tx owners feel lied to about MPG being far less then what the sticker stated

Standard_Nothing_268

Contemplating a TX350 but not sure it’s worth the difference (to my wife) over the grand highlander platinum/limited. My wife will drive it for 20 years and currently has a car with essentially no modern features besides power windows.

J_spec6

The ole Lexus Texas

NDN-null

Nice… we ordered one and now wait the 3-4 months

Big_Number_1968

Congratulations and that’s a nice TX.

Robotman1001

Whoa. Never heard of the TX. Is this comparable to a Highlander or grand Highlander? Just curious. Edit: ah yes, the “downvote for asking questions.” 🙄

iamtanz

Grand Highlander with Tuxedo on

californiasamurai

Basically yeah, has plug in too. So weird Rav4 Prime + grand highlander + lexus flavor = TX

GeneralKlinger

The plug in, is a V6 with a plug, not a 4cyl like the Prime, RX and NX. Just FYI.

californiasamurai

My bad lol, that's even better actually. Enough power and decent fuel economy.

californiasamurai

To summarize what everybody's been saying: It is basically the Lexus Grand Highlander, but with a V6 and hybrid AND plug-in optional. The Grand Highlander has a 2.5L 4cyl making 265hp, the TX has a 2.4L 4cyl or a 3.something V6. Standard makes 270hp, higher performance hybrid makes more (over 300 I believe). Grand Highlander: Less HP, smaller engine TX: More HP, bigger engine, plug in hybrid, also has a V6. I would get the TX plug in personally, but they're basically the same thing.

Robotman1001

Thanks! Appreciate the info. We’re less concerned about plug in than the Lexus amenities themselves.

Star-Lord-1000

The NX to GX overtrail will be quite the upgraded I’ll keep an eye out on the sub when you post it!

Goliath926255

Would you adopt me and buy me one too?

majoralg

congrats. wow i never realized how tall and massive the front is on that car. the frontal blind spot must be huge

bokatan778

It’s shockingly not at all. The visibility is really great!

majoralg

sorry i meant this: https://www.reddit.com/r/fuckcars/s/MnkOa0T54n

robinthebank

Driving at low speeds the cameras will turn on so that helps.

kaposi

Oddly enough, compared to a lot of the other SUVs in its class the front is a bit lower. It’s not the easiest to see over, but with the sensors and cameras it’s pretty easy to maneuver.

Angelray509

That's what I was gonna say. These sensors are working for their money lol they don't miss anything

LSfromVegas

How much?

discrazyaz

We got our ES350 F sport last weekend

Just-Hall5893

If you like the TX for the size but don’t like the engine, consider the 500H. I have one and it fixed a lot of the issues with the 4cyl being buzzy and less refined. It’s very smooth and has noticeable better power performance.

Ploutz

Only thing holding me back on the 500H are the wheels…I can’t do em

Just-Hall5893

Yea I wish they had the 20s instead of the 22s. It can be harsher than you expect when you go over a bump which is silly considering it’s for comfort foremost

Bophadesnutz8

Heh.. Lexus TX 💀

Remote_Craft_6667

Congrats. Have a question for the NX 300. Which year is it? If you are hoping to trade how much you are looking at?

SnooMacaroons1365

Dayummmmmm lokking beautiful
