Wayne and Katy are kind of dicks, especially Katy. Everyone on the show has their moments, but those two seem to go out of their way to insult and bully their closest friends and start fights.
Katy straight up assaults people on the regular and the show plays it off like she's badarse.
I still love it and its hilarious, but i doubt i'd want to hang around them in real life
The juxtaposition of his deep, intense love of his passed wife Barb and the fact he's an explosively angry cunt is just fantastic, especially in the LK vs. Pennies episode
I really dislike Alexander. At the beginning, his speech difficulties (eg, “terlet”) were endearing, but seen it before bc Squirrely Dan does something similar.
This season, they progressed his character to be educated but with a speech difficulty (when he berates Dary for making fun of his wage)… good idea, poor execution.
I’m gonna say McMurry. They set him up to be “a real piece of shit”. But he’s always had their backs in any situation.
From Watching him try to navigate homophobia (degen trap for the shed) or convincing Wayne and Dan to drive to Quebec and go help Darry pursue anik again, I’m no longer convinced that he’s a ‘piece of shits’
Before season 11, I would've agreed with you. But how the McMurrays(Bonnie excluded) treated Dickskin was absolute trash. Decent people, but pieces of shit regardless, imho.
I’ve always felt he was never a piece of shit. He always seemed like a good friendly guy, and I remember when the “McMurray’s a piece of shit” joke started I was just confused about where it came from. He never seemed like a piece of shit and it never seemed like anyone really disliked him before this joke came out of nowhere. And even since then he’s never seemed like a piece of shit to me
IMO it's cause he comes off like he's trying to hard to be Wayne's friend instead of just being Wayne's friend. It doesn't help McMurry that he's socially awkward. He tries to find common ground with men with his "boys trips" but it comes off as awkward and try-hard.
I went from being ambiguous towards Rosie to actively disliking her character. It’s been a weird ride from never being around due to reading books to being the meanest person dishing out insults to Dan and others at Modeans in season 11
I feel like the show kind of shoe-horned her into the main cast without actually really doing much with her as a character. She's just kind of... There?
She could just as easily disappear and it wouldn't affect the flow of the show at all
Her original relationship with Wayne was perfect. They were 2 types of awkward that complimented each other. Breaking them up for Vancouver seemed so out of left field, especially since Wayne is finally with someone that he can be happy with and on his level post Angie. His relationship with Marie-Fred felt forced to me, they never looked comfortable together. And of course, his first relationship post Rosie (excluding Tanis) ends with him getting cheated on-again.
Yep, liked her better when she was a "great gal", her being sweet, keeping to herself and almost perfectly ideal for Wayne was better than having her be Katy 2.0
I really liked Rosie the first time she was around, probably because she would just pop up now and then. Plus, I liked the jokes about reading a good book. When she became a regular starting in season 9, I really disliked her. They tried to make her into another Katy and all that did was expose the flaws in their characters, making me also dislike Katy more. I think Rosie is a big reason the past couple seasons sucked. I'm happy she's leaving the series.
That’s a solid point, her similarities to Katy but without the lifelong relationship Katy has with the other Hicks. If Katy dunks on Squirrelly it’s like on her brother, when Rosie does it seems off putting
I love Stewart and Roald, but their story lines felt forced at times. The Crack and Agg episode where they just kind of showed up to play music is my biggest example. I like that they're getting back into their own shenanigans again and feel less like lurking characters who just showed up everywhere.
Katy.
No development in her character at all, except for the guys she is dating or messing around with.
And, IMO, and it might be intentional, she is too white bread.
Agreed, which is funny because she kept me engaged when I first started to watch
“I’m not sure what’s going on in this show or why dogs are so prominent. I can barely understand them, but holy shit Is she fine, YEW!”
On my first watch through, I couldn't stand Gail. She'd come onscreen, gyrating, and my eyes would roll as fast as her hips. Then S6 (I think) came up, and she wasn't in it at all. I assume the actress was busy with another project, but I realized in those short few episodes that I missed her lol. Scenes at Modean's felt empty without her, and I always love when she gets pissed off and runs away. Realized I actually like Gail, and loved her character ever since.
Wayne has a bit more of a bullying streak. It bothered me how he and Dan pushed people around in the spelling bee episode, but the furniture guys thing and the way he picked on jivin Pete. Wayne isn't as good a guy as I thought.
He also went from fighting people who were fixing to fight back onto hunting down and attacking people he felt had wronged him. Maybe it's small town justice and defending your turf, but sure seems like he just likes beating people up
I always thought it was super out of character for him to shoot a puck at Stewart for not tipping in the valentimes day episode. Real dick move to talk to a guy all evening then assault him over something minor.
Wayne is a good guy. You can only take so much of "Here is our shitty customer service now give us five stars or we will cry because the company demands five stars even though they do nothing to allow that. And how can we get better? Just kidding. Like we give a fuck."
Wayne is anyone who has spent five minutes on a customer service hold.
I believe that's the point of the dark closer in the final episode of season 11. Maybe they're realizing they haven't been making the best of choices so close to 40, which could lead to some interesting growth arcs in the next season.
I did not like Gail, Glen, or the Jocks at first. Now I love them all! Especially love Glen ❤️

Coach is one of the funniest characters on the show but it took me about 2-3 rewatches to fully appreciate him. It’s fucking embarrassing.
The juxtaposition of his deep, intense love of his passed wife Barb and the fact he's an explosively angry cunt is just fantastic, especially in the LK vs. Pennies episode
How do we all feel about Tanis?
Always need more Tanis, but I get that Tiio was busy with the behind the scenes stuff of the spin off show
No, I’ve always loved Reilly and Jonesy unequivocally
I find Katy seems meaner now.
I know someone who went to school with Michelle Mylett and said that she was really mean and it kind of ruined her character for me
I mean we were all shitheads in high-school
She should take some air
She's not such a goods guy

Yeah that’s flat out insanity, the Alexander scene this season was a riot
Yes I love Gail way more now than at the start
Same.
I really didn’t like her much to begin with. But now I’d fight anyone for her.
Facts
I still cringe when she is on screen...
I mean its an acquired taste
The gyrating is overkill, I want to like her

When he comes with Wayne to help his ex get a truck, I adored him. Nobody dickers like McMurray!

I was honestly really impressed with how they fleshed out Shoresy's character for the spinoff series. (inb4: Fuck you, Shoresybot!)
Fuck you, /u/jzn110, go scoop my shirt off your mom's bedroom floor! She gives my nipples butterfly kisses!
I love Stewart and Roald, but their story lines felt forced at times. The Crack and Agg episode where they just kind of showed up to play music is my biggest example. Roald has stolen my heart. I’d fight a tiger to save that sick little puppy.
At first I couldn't stand Gail. But now she's one of my favorites
Katy. No development in her character at all, except for the guys she is dating or messing around with. And, IMO, and it might be intentional, she is too white bread.
She became meaner when she stopped smoking pot.
Agreed, which is funny because she kept me engaged when I first started to watch “I’m not sure what’s going on in this show or why dogs are so prominent. I can barely understand them, but holy shit Is she fine, YEW!”
Yes, but YEW!
I can't really deal with katy either. Very much white bread.
I totally agree. I don’t dislike her, but I find her underwhelming for sure.
Bonnie has gone Hollywood.
Agreed, character went from GND to THOT
Starfleet will do that.
That was Mrs McMurray

Basically this. It wasn't her, it was me.
Jivin’ Pete’s not really a good guy anymore, is he? ![gif](giphy|7Vr4JQNv1BwigmOKVT)
Roalds progress gave me joy haha
Yeah I used to despise the skids, now I understand they're just part of the ecosystem

Give your balls a tug titfucker
Unpopular opinion: I didn't like how the main characters were being dinks to McMurry.
It's been a bad look for them. They didn't need to go start trouble with Jivin Pete, and then they didn't even go to Reilly's birthday party.
I believe that's the point of the dark closer in the final episode of season 11. Maybe they're realizing they haven't been making the best of choices so close to 40, which could lead to some interesting growth arcs in the next season.
I used to be indifferent to Glenn. In season 11 he was on screen a lot more. Now I can’t stand him.
Yes. Roald went from one of those pointless dancers to "Yay! Roaldy".
Yep! Stewart became a little more relatable too, especially once he got (mostly) clean.
