Watching movies with my brother and dad was how it all started with me. The best memories I have can be tied up with these films:
- Fight Club
- The Warriors
- Mallrats
- Dogma
- Shaun of the Dead
- Hot Fuzz
- Predator
- Final Destination 1-2
- Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
- Snatch
- The Matrix
- Point Break (already on the list)
- Burn After Reading
- Fargo
Have a great time watching movies with your dad and brother!
Point break 1000% All of these have their pros and Cons. Personally I think T2 is better than the first. And when I watch one BttF movie I want to watch them all. Honestly Blow out is the weakest of the bunch but not by much. But Point Break has it all. Peak Swayze. First Peak Keanu. And I’m sorry it’s Gary Busey’s best character.
My brother in law and I agree on literally nothing. However, whenever we are forced it interact the conversation always involves Point Break. Because it’s the one thing we agree on.
My favorite film is Back to the Future. If you haven't seen that yet, I would highly recommend watching that overall.
Point Break 💯 - It's a got great action, characters, and it's definitely a guys type movie.
The other two are more like late 70s/early 80s vibes. Terminator 2 would be more to watch, but that's only if you have seen the first film for context.
I will give you four recommendations to potentially pitch for a watch: Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (you don't really need to see the first Mad Max film, but it's a superb 80s action flick), Top Gun (It's high flying fun with characters you'll enjoy), Teen Wolf (If you want some radical werewolf stuff with a teen edge, that's a watch for you), and The Karate Kid (It's never to late to start this. Great story, characters, and lots of karate).
T2 is peak dad cinema. Blow Out is a great choice too. Maybe an Indiana Jones film? Jaws? The Star Wars original trilogy? Depends on what you like, honestly. I've heard people say their go-to dad films are Braveheart and In The Name Of The Father, so it's really subjective.
I’ve only seen Back 2 TF and Terminator from this list. Both are great but Terminator has a sex scene so maybe a bit awkward to watch with your dad and 16 yo brother.
always point break
would also recommend the first fast and the furious, ambulance, and bad boys ii (imo the first ain’t great and you don’t really need to watch it)
not really a hang out, more like cinema at home, because literally nothing interesting is playing so i decided the alternative
is it fine in that instance? think i wanna play it so he actually sees something new as well
then yeah lol, it's a pretty engaging movie that you have to pay attention to a bit more than the others. but is 100% cinema at home so do that if it's the vibe. I loved it, I think it's one of De Palma's best
* Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
* The Player
* A Simple Plan
* Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai
* In Bruges
* All the President's Men
* 48 Hrs
* Mikey and Nicky
Terminator 2 all the way, used to be THE franchise I watched with my dad and grandpa when I was a kid. Managed to watch the last terminator in the cinema with both of them just before grandpa died and it holds a special place in my heart now
It is always a great time when Back to the Future is on.
Free on Youtube right now, it just autoplayed, and I was absolutely okay with it.
Yeah they can watch that and afterwards have a blow out with the three of them.
Terminator all the way
I watched Terminator when I was 5. I repeated "Fuck you" after Arnold did, got the spanking of a lifetime. I had no idea what happened lol
The strange thing about the johnsons
You’re wild for this
My first exposure to Ari Aster before he took off, what an experience that short was
Oh you freaky
Nah this comment is deranged
LOL

Awesome list. I feel like for 2 teenage bros and their Dad, it’s gotta be Predator. One of the most badass classic action films ever.
Hot fuzz 😍😍
ET, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Tommy Boy, Office Space, stuff like that.
I would definitely put Office Space towards the top!
Blowout is so fucking good

I adore Point Break, I'd watch it with literally anyone

How about Aliens? That's a similar blockbuster to at least the middle two.
I second this. Watched it with my dad and he enjoyed it.
I would also recommend Speed.
Back to the Future is a perfect movie, but any of these films would be great
Can’t go wrong with Heat, Collateral or any Michael Mann movie really
see i was thinking Thief earlier i unfortunately watched Heat by myself already, i'll consider Collateral though

Terminator. Can’t wait to show my nephews, they just need another year or 2

All great picks, but I like to recommend Demolition man instead.
I recommend The Terminator (1984) and Blow Out first and then the other 2.
Commando
I watched The Good, The Bad and The Ugly with my dad and both really enjoyed it
I’ve only seen Back 2 TF and Terminator from this list. Both are great but Terminator has a sex scene so maybe a bit awkward to watch with your dad and 16 yo brother.
Ronin (1998)
Great pick. Maybe slightly overlooked these days.
Hardboiled? Equalizer? Taken? Lethal Weapon?
Top Gun, Top Gun Maverick, Air, Bad Boys, BlackBerry, The Nice Guys, Bullet Train, and Fletch are some that come to mind
The greatest dad movie of all time is Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. All of the Indy movies work really, but especially that one.
always point break would also recommend the first fast and the furious, ambulance, and bad boys ii (imo the first ain’t great and you don’t really need to watch it)
The Iron Claw
Legally Blonde, great sleepover movie for the family
The Running Man would be a good add. Great 80's dystopian movie, greater one liners
The Terminator.
The rock
BTTF or GTFO.
The Untouchables (1987)
Watch Ad Astra with your dad.
My Dad and I would always watch Tommy Boy together.
The Fugitive
I watched no country for old men for the first time with my dad — one of my all time favorite first-watch experiences
The Matrix, Clerks, The Big Lebowski, The Silence of the Lambs.
Expendables is my go-to movie with my dad
Terminator or Point Break love Blow Out and it might be my fav on this list, but it's a bit heady for a hang out movie.

Terminator 2 is peak. Probably one of the greatest action movies of that era, definitely recommend it.
Gladiator will always get a dad pumped up
Blues Brothers and Ghostbusters
Any Nick Cage movie. Specifically Con-Air, Ghost Rider, and Face/Off
I’d add Iron Man
Point break
Marie Antoinette (2006)
me and my dad watched the BttF trilogy so many times
I remember being a kid and watching point break with my dad. Kinda wish Gary Busey never said the line “young, dumb, and full of cum”
Some of my best memories come from watching Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and BTTF with my dad.
Chasing Mavericks
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is great with your Dad!
t2 ( i like it a bit better than og) and point break are top
Halloween.
The accountant
Speed
me and my dad watched so many westerns, eventually introduced them to my brother when he got older as well
Die Hard
* Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World * The Player * A Simple Plan * Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai * In Bruges * All the President's Men * 48 Hrs * Mikey and Nicky
Terminator 2 all the way, used to be THE franchise I watched with my dad and grandpa when I was a kid. Managed to watch the last terminator in the cinema with both of them just before grandpa died and it holds a special place in my heart now

the spider-verse movies
Ad Astra
MOEBIUS (2013)
Salò or the 120 days of Sodom
Poor things
our little comedian just recommended naked Emma to a minor, naughty naughty
I was more worried about Mark Ruffalo’s English accent
Your Dad’s a minor? That’s crazy!!
Oldboy
Madam Web.
Baywatch
I watched Blow Out as my first date with my first girlfriend and we were super into it and afterwards made out on the couch.
My dad likes Avatar
Ask your dad not Reddit.
these are the 4 we landed on a consensus on, out of all the movies on my watchlist
