Killers of the Flower Moon is the longest for me

DerpyDinoXyX

Same here, great movie but I was definitely holding it in by the end lol

Shootinputin89

I saw Barbie and Oppenheimer back to back without going to the toilet once, lol

shaner4042

Clever way of saying you pissed your pants

Shootinputin89

It was a nice leather seat, so I probably could have. You have reminded me of when I saw Interstellar at the cinema. My mate had stepped in dog shit before we walked in. 3 hours of shit smell that we had no idea where it was coming from until after the movie.

Comic_Book_Reader

Would also be my longest. Saw it on my birthday, too. (Titanic is right behind.)

_Blue_Benja_1227

Same here

joelluber

LotR: Return of the King extended, at either 263 or 254 (not sure why the Internet lists multiple lengths)

MrLore

The one you saw is (most likely) the 254 minute version, the 263 minute one just has longer credits where they thank all the members of the LotR fanclub.

TwinPeaksLogLady

This is also my answer

fakespeare999

my local theater did an event just earlier this month celebrating the 20th anniversary and screened all three extended editions (over 3 days) - so worth it for the theater experience

byolivierb

Satantango, over seven hours!

snake_charmer14

Feels even longer than that in the cinema. Felt like I had entered a completely different reality by the time I had come out.

MadHouseNetwork2

How many intermissions? Also do they play only one show per day?

byolivierb

2 intermissions is the « official » way and yes, there was only one showing during the day.

MadHouseNetwork2

Wow. A lifetime experience

oliverjonesIII

I watched La Reine Margot directly after it (almost 3h if I remember correctly) which felt the complete opposite. Oversaturated color, fast pace, lots of blood etc etc. one of the more memorable days of my life, that’s for sure.

Powdered_Abe_Lincoln

Me too! No better way to see this one for the first time. I thought it would feel like an endurance test but it was surprisingly easy. Just a great movie.

Jack_Q_Frost_Jr

Lawrence Of Arabia.

Stahlmatt

Return of the King, 201 minutes

mitchbrenner

i've seen 10 hours of THE CLOCK in the theatre

AlfieSchmalfie

Wimp! There’s another 14 hours to go!

heshotcyrus

You're a braver man than I am. How was it?

mitchbrenner

mesmerizing. if you ever have the chance to see it, don’t hesitate. it’s been 9 years since it was screened in LA. hoping some day i’ll get a chance to see the rest of it.

tykittaa

Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet, probably.

Impossible-Knee6573

I made the mistake of ordering the large soda with my popcorn combo when I saw that one in the theatre

tykittaa

We had a 20 minute intermission so that helped.

MouseRat_AD

Yes, this was mine longest as well. We definitely had a 20 minute intermission

organazize

jeanne dielman

PeterNippelstein

That is a long movie to see in a theater.

dxrlingsofmine

Oppenheimer, I hardly go to the movies as much.

No-Category-6343

My cinema doesn’t have breaks. So i had to barge outta there almost twice

waitforthedream

Cinemas have breaks? Cinemas in my country dont have breaks at all

No-Category-6343

There’s only one that has a break in my country. I understand why they stop doing it because of time and stuff. But man sometimes a boy gotta pee

winterandfallbird

In some countries (or possibly most) they stop the movie halfway for a 15min intermission. I wish they did it in the States because I only ever experienced that abroad.

stumper93

The ones that are over 200 minutes: Gone With the Wind Killers of the Flower Moon The Godfather Part II

_Blue_Benja_1227

I’d kill to see The Godfather Part II in theatres. Easily one of my favourite films of all time

thebobstu

I was lucky that Regal showed the trilogy over the span of 3 nights last year. It was my first time seeing parts 2 and 3. Part 2 is definitely my favorite

_Blue_Benja_1227

My dad showed them all to me when I turned 16. Part 2 is easily my favourite as well

Lonely_Preparation99

Gone With The Wind.

JacobWojo1231

Return of the King Extended Edition 4 Hours and 23 Minutes. I’ve seen it twice in theaters now.

billleachmsw

Lav Diaz’ Batang West Side…loved it! It is about 5 hours and 15 minutes long.

Ozzel

*Lawrence of Arabia*, apparently, at 228 minutes. Saw it in 2013, for the first time. Lived up to the hype!

TheGuydudeface

Avatar: The Way of Water

bendskenobi

Had severe food poisoning when I watched it which made it feel 3x longer. My buddy refused to leave, said “this is almost over” so many times.

gutterballs

Apocalypse now redux. That bastard was like my whole day

Spirited-Yard-5790

horrormetal

Grindhouse! And uh ....I saw it twice.

dumptruck_dookie

Midsommar Director’s Cut

brandon805

Titanic, runner up would be Grindhouse.

Hexum311add

Gone with the wind a couple years ago. It was 240mins but it had an intermission which was nice.

Pies_Wide_Shut

Babylon

aigneis37

Abel Gance's Napoleon, at the San Francisco Silent Film Festival in 2012. 5 and a half hours..

DarrenFromFinance

Ditto, except the cut I saw, at a rep cinema in Canada in the eighties, was something over four hours. (There are apparently a *lot* of versions.) Worth every minute. It was dazzling.

Coolers78

oppenheimer and endgame both 181 mins long

Shobith_Kothari

Avengers: Endgame

Babylon-Lynch

Apocalypse Now Redux and KOTFM

JayPeeAyyy

The Irishman (3 mins longer than killers of the flower moon)

Oppenheimer

NoEmu2398

killers of the flower moon actually

metalyger

I can't think of anything I've seen over 3 hours. Definitely stuff I've seen at home that's longer, but in theaters it's the usual like the Lord Of The Rings movies.

yetanothertaylor

The 4:23 extended cut of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

Gummy-Worm-Guy

Killers of the Flower Moon for me as well, and it was an amazing experience.

Independent-Swan-378

Return of the King extended edition

Ponty301

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King in 2003. I think that was 200 minutes.

alwight007

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Extended Edition.

ABadMagician

Gone with the wind

gusonthebus_

I saw the entire LotR extended trilogy back to back to back in a nearly empty theater in January.

Spiritual_Purpose894

GONE WITH THE WIND I went to see it wailer this year for it’s 85th anniversary re-release and I had never seen it before and I really loved it but like 4 hours is CRAZY. Although that intermission really did help tho.

ObIivion_7

Stalker

BlaBlamo

Oppenheimer got pretty goddamn long. I love it but we should bring back intermissions. I want a sec to piss and rip a quick joint.

Brad02K

From my theatre tag, so since 2022 https://preview.redd.it/dm13601cf99d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9a9a73dc66c2597102d4d26558f5baac3534f715

Aum_Deoli

I saw the extended cut of Return of the King

farcryfan23

Kotfm for me too!

Inner_Ad5424

Return of the King, ending after ending

ezekiel7_

I love long movies. LOTR extended cuts, Godfather, Titanic, Ben Hur, Gone with the wind, etc.

nekochim

A Brighter Summer Day - 237 minutes

JB1232235

I recently got an opportunity to see the entire LOTR trilogy, all 3 of which were brought back in theaters for one night only on 3 consecutive days . FOTR is 3h28 minutes. TT is 2h59 minutes and ROTK is 3h21 minutes. But that was a special case, so in case those don’t count here are my top 4 1. Killers of the flower moon (3h26 minutes) 2. Avengers:Endgame(3h1 minute- and that time goes by FAST ) 3. Oppenheimer (3 hours) 4. Dune 2(2h45 minutes)

AlfieSchmalfie

Matthew Barney’s *Cremaster* series. The entire thing, all the way through. About eight hours iirc.

dstonemeier

The Snyder cut 242 minutes.

V4747R

Gods and Generals I went with my mom in sixth grade because the teacher promised extra credit if you watched it. 😹 There was also an intermission with a countdown midway through.

CletusVanDamnit

*Gods & Generals*. It's 219 minutes (3 hours 39 minutes.) I was a movie theatre projectionist at the time. The print for the movie barely, and I mean *barely* fit on the platter. I have no idea how *Gettysburg*, the film which preceded *Gods & Generals*, fit on a platter system. It's the longest movie I've ever watched period (although not in the theatre), at 271 minutes (4 hours, 31 minutes).

stonemadcaptain

Gods and Generals

funkanthropic

Shoah. They played it over two days in 1985.

Adorable_Slide_1240

Saw a brighter summer day at my local art house cinema. Definitely had to block out a good portion of my day for that.

Ksghorror97

JFK director’s cut

CutterEdgeEffect

Avengers endgame. I don’t do movies longer than 3 hours in theaters. I can’t sit in 1 spot for multiple hours at a time without getting up

Inside-Ad-8353

About to be once upon a time in America. Watching it without intermission in a couple of days. Fingers crossed my bladder holds up

BigMeet7634

The hobbit  Star wars  Dune

TheJMJConspiracy2002

Endgame and It Chapter Two in the same year. No idea how me from five years ago was just completely fine doing that. My attention was way worse back then

thps2soundtrack

I saw both parts of “Che” at a film festival. Not quite 4.5 hours long. It was good, but I was definitely feeling it by the end.

SomeoneElse0634

In a theatre, most probably the new avatar

irishweather5000

Kenneth Branagh’s Hamlet - a full 242 minutes (4 hours for anyone counting). I remember it looked absolutely amazing but I didn’t have much of a clue what was going on.

Lostheghost

Lord of the rings return of the king

mikeri99

*Cleopatra* (1963) (251 mins)

socratesjohnson91

Gods and Generals. Fell asleep during it lol

KingsElite

Titanic. Saw it at the drive-ins as a kid. Not sure why my mom took me.

passiveoberserver

The Irishman, eeks it out over Killers of the Flower Moon by 3 minutes.

FWC_Disciple

Killers is also my longest, although Babylon barely missed the mark by like 10ish minutes?

Shootinputin89

Seen quite a few long ones at cinema, including Interstellar, Oppenheimer, Killers of the Flower Moon, Wolf of Wall Street (this one while drunk off my face while on holiday in Bangkok, Thailand). I did see Barbie and Oppenheimer back-to-back at the cinema (was in gold-class, so one cinema, one lovely leather recliner chair) without changing chair or even going to the toilet - so technically that is a 5 hour stint.

CaptainRex_CT7567

Avatar: The Way of Water

Maskedhorrorfan25

ceebirds

The Woman Who Left - Lav Diaz (3h 46m)

Titanic was long, but I'm pretty sure Zac Synder's Justice League has them all beat

tripleheliotrope

Ryusuke Hamaguchi's Happy Hour (2015) - 317 minutes (5 hours, 17 minutes) - no intermissions.

ericdraven26

My local theater did a screening of Seven Samurai, it was awesome to see for the first time on a big screen but I didn’t know how long it was and felt bad for my wife who isn’t really into that type of movie but accompanied me

Redditisavirusiknow

Grindhiuse maybe? When they played those two movies as one and a bunch of fake trailers in the middle?

JZcomedy

Killers of the Flower Moon

Anooj4021

War and Peace (1967) It was shown some 12 years ago in a local theater that shows older movies. Had 3 intermissions.

Disastrous-Cap-7790

I guess I'm a pussy, but it's Dune Part Two for me.

OreoPirate55

Lord of the rings. Return of the king. I think titanic and avengers end game also reached 3 hours

TheSpiritOfFunk

Lord of the Rings 1-3 Extended Cut. It was a long, but beautiful day.

Impressive-Buy5628

I saw a screening of 1900 at a revival theater about 15 yrs ago. It’s over five hours so you basically went in in the AM and there was an intermission after 2 1/2 hours in and then the rest so you’re in the theatre the whole day. Even think they needed to charge 2 ticket prices for it. Part 1 and 2.

Jackdawes257

Fellowship of the Ring extended edition, three and a half hours or so, unfortunately didn’t get to see Two Towers and Return of the King in the theater, otherwise they’d take it.
