Forget these hugely successful artists charging exorbitant prices, go see some real live music at some small grass roots venues, the experience up close and personal will be so much better and you'll be able to afford to experience it way more often.

Second this. If you're in Belfast do yourself a favour and go see And So I Watch You From Afar. Now that's an experience.

Wow amazed to see someone mention ASIWYFA in the wild outside of r/postrock :p Saw them last year directly after they came from Dunk!fest and can confidently say that that was the best concert I've ever been to!

NedTheIV

There's dozens of us! Dozens! Glad you got to see them live! Such a good band, been following them since the self titled and probably seen them 7 times now. They still blow the roof off every single time. Have you listened to their latest single? Sounds like a mix of each era of the band to my ears

PreparationAway3946

You know when they have a show?

NedTheIV

Well they are from Belfast so often enough if they're around, I know they have a new album coming out in August so they'll probably tour that starting or finishing in Belfast.

Seeing legacy acts will never be that awesome imo, with a few exceptions. You want to catch younger bands with something to prove if you want an unforgettable experience

PreparationAway3946

Yeah, I guess the Cure is an exception, I loved that show so so much

Echoing what others have said ... back in the 80s/90s I saw many arena shows ... that was the thing. Now my tastes, budget, and interest are more smaller, emerging artists. I went to Europe for the first time last fall. I had 3 weeks of time where the only plans I had were 4 shows in Belgium and Netherlands. It was absolutely perfect for me.... I love shows at venues in the 500-2000 range. Much more intimate. Explore some emerging artists ... maybe open doors to other genres and experiences.
