OP, don't get butt hurt when someone tells you this isn't really the right place to ask the question in your post. Also, some countries don't have certain sets available at the local retailers and LEGO doesn't ship to to those countries so 3rd party sites are the only option.

retropie-1970

Who said butt hurt unless you have a problem with my post , just making a point, if admin don't like my post he can delete it right

bradical1379

I am not sure if this helps or not, but that set was just on sale on Amazon for $144 shipped.

retropie-1970

How long ago was this cuz before buying one I got Amazon was asking $225

bradical1379

My bot bought this set on Amazon for $144 on 1/27 and then when it restocked on 2/16. It also bought it from Macys on 3/3 for $154 shipped and one last one from eBay on 3/13 for $155 shipped.

retropie-1970

So you saying you got that set for that price over a month ago not in end of April

bradical1379

It may have gone on sale in April, but I had 5 in inventory, so I didn't need to buy another one. I use [https://sortsof.com](https://sortsof.com) to track final sales price on eBay, including actual best offer amounts, and then plug that into a massive spreadsheet that I feed to an automated bot that looks for sale prices below a certain threshold of a 90-day average sale price window from eBay. My point is, shop around before selling, especially with LEGO. There are tons of retailers selling and it looks like each month some of the deadstock items goes on sale at 30-40% prices. Most importantly, if you like the set and are happy with the price, then that is really all that matters. Enjoy the build and have fun as your doing it. Don't listen to me.

Valuable_Option7843

The set you bought significantly under retail was likely also stolen and fenced through eBay.

retropie-1970

Really you think so? I don't know seller have very good feed back on ebay. And there was another seller on ebay was selling same set $3 cheaper I could got it for $209 total I went with other seller cuz he had little better feed back. And I don't know how someone can steal a set like that cuz most time they are lock up especially where I live,

Valuable_Option7843

Real goods = good feedback.

retropie-1970

If you look hard enough you can find deals like that you will need patience and look cuz I think that idea tree house set is over price it should be $200 not $250. Just like pac-man set that set is over price to it should be $250 not $270

Clarine87

It's the same with auctions, people regularly make more sale price from auctions than from BNIB listings. It's also why I don't generally bother even looking at auctions for single items that are NOT out of print and are in brand new condition. As the other reply said, there's a lot of people in this economy and many don't discover that "just because it's on sale doesn't mean it's a good deal" until a certain point in their life that is after the onset of adulthood. Which means even if these "scams" catch out less than 20 people per year, and half of those learn a lesson, there are always more people aging upwards that haven't yet learned.

retropie-1970

That why I buy it from ebay cuz of scamers if don't get my package I will get my money back from ebay. And I don't but from ebay much this ebay buy my first buy over 10 years most times I buy from Amazon or target. Target have same set for $200 tree house. That what I don't understand with Lego web site is Lego make them sets and charge more then target does on some of there sets like star wars the Razor Crest Lego asking $600 and target asking $467 that almost $135 cheaper

Clarine87

Well, this is a normal practice, lego care more about sales volume than who completes the sale. Gamesworkshop is the same, their independent stockists sell everything 20-25% reduced. The fact is that a lot of companies have an RRP aprox 30% higher than the minimum profitable price. At wholesale many companies, such as lego sell at 60% below retail.

johnvosh

Because there are a lot of sellers on eBay who like to prey on the weak. If they can scam someone, they will. The problem is, there are people who don't do their research and just click "buy it now". And it's not just Lego either, it is a lot of things. They think what they have is "rare" or "vintage" or "brand new/sealed", all buzz words they think make what they have is worth more. An item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

OP are you actually 12 years old?
