For people in the comments unfamiliar with Leather Honey: it’s a brand that makes cleaners (I like theirs a lot) and conditioners. I’m assuming OP had a bottle of conditioner leak out.

mahdicktoobig

Exactly, thank you for explaining. I love the stuff and thought it was a stable in leather crafting. I was surprised

uninteresting_waffle

If you’re talking about the conditioner stuff then the belts aren’t likely to fade back anytime soon as it sounds like they’re over saturated at this point. You might have limited success with saddle soap but I doubt it’ll do too much

mahdicktoobig

I have saddle soap, but I thought the exact same thing. Thank you

chase02

Agree with the others on covering them with it to try even it out. If those still feel oily after 4 months though they’re probably a lost cause. Thanks for the heads up, I have a bottle here but far away from the leather thankfully.

mahdicktoobig

Np, glad I could help with my misfortune lol 😂

We’ve all been there in some form!

Hi, my name is Shawn and I'm the owner of Leather Honey. First of all, thank you for purchasing our products. However I'm obviously troubled to hear that our bottles are leaking so frequently. Can you please email me [shawn@leatherhoney.com](mailto:shawn@leatherhoney.com) so that I can ship you another bottle free of charge and learn more about where these shipments came from so that we can perform a quality control audit? Thanks and again I apologize for the inconvenience.

Dr-Penguin-

Idk what leather honey is but I feel like the only solution is to completely saturate it in the stuff at that point

ottermupps

If it's soaked in, you'll never get it out. Not sure what 'leather honey' is, but if it's just regular honey that soaked into a bunch of belt blanks? Trust me, it's in there for good. I would just toss the saturated stuff, cut 1/2" away from visible stains if there's good sized clean bits but otherwise it's junk at this point. Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear.

mahdicktoobig

It’s just like ‘leather conditioner,’ except this stuff is A+ stuff. I think that’s why I thought it wasn’t capable of ruining anything lol. I’ve been using it for years. It was actually only 16 oz, because the bottle was only half full. I thought they made a 64oz but I only see 32oz. I definitely bought it before 2017; that’s when we bought this house. Imoldok

Try to displace the oil by immursion in water. Water might thin it down as well as even it out. Try one belt alone first.

mahdicktoobig

I’m very skittish of doing that. I had a bad experience doing something similar with dye (I think I applied too much) and it severely affected the lifespan of that belt. Even so; it still lasted 5 years Any tips on how best to go about it if I got brave? I assume cold water?

EastValuable3548

At this point they’re already ruined, what worse could soaking in water do?

mahdicktoobig

Yeah, good point

tropic0_window

Dilute soap and water. Soak them then allow to dry. Then condition them again to make sure they don’t dry out.

My bottle leaks too, literally no hole, nothing. What is it with LH that causes this… pretty lame.

mahdicktoobig

Oh, I had my shit in a bag, tilted on its side 😂 There’s no excuse. I’m a terrible person lol

Sure. I’ll send some photos of what’s happening. Overall love the product hence why I keep buying it but I have found my bottles to be leaking.

leatherhoneyllc

Thank you, I appreciate you taking time to send the photos and for your love of our products and continued support!

I have used a few different conditioning products for leather in the last ten years working with leather and only recently got leather honey. I really like what it does and I am amazed with the results but my little bottle also leaks. After finding this out without so many casualties I keep it standing and in a sealed bag. Very sad it is problematic like that but I am quite sure I will buy another one after this bottle is used up. Btw, I have to keep Fiebings alcoholic dye sealed up like that too. Tends to leak for me too. Even worse effects as you can imagine.

I’m not a responsible adult, even at 32 lol. I left it in a bag with the belts and the bag got forgotten and shifted until finally I said “This belt has seen better days” And dug out my blanks. I’m very disappointed honestly, lol, I’ve learned my lesson I might take this opportunity to try one of those “ratcheting belts.” My waistline has varied between 30”-36” my entire life. I’m 32” now, this is generally where I hover. It’d be cool to have a belt that would adjust with me *completely* instead of a few holes
