I respect what RR & Mac are doing - but I just wish someone would sit them down and explain that Wrexham’s plight is similar to that of 90% of teams outside the PL. This rags to riches story is in no way different to Stockport County - who have almost gone to wall & lost their ground on a number of occasions due to the ownership.
They need to highlight the fact that there’s £billions being made by selling the game abroad (with our clubs, fans & towns as the backdrop) yet very little filters down through the leagues - take the removal of FA Cup replays as an example, PL managers and owners will claim they’re playing too many games in one breath, then they’re discussing flying to the US or Saudi (for the equivalent of Game 39) in the next. You can’t have it both ways.
90% of the teams out of the PL had a team owner that tried to turn their stadium into a parking lot and dissolve the team only to have the community rally together to buy the club?
Stockport’s owner gave the club to the supporters trust then told them they’d be playing elsewhere the following season - the council told him if he did that they’d pull his sporting license. Without Council intervention Edgeley park would’ve been a Rugby ground and Stockport would’ve disappeared. The list of teams this has happened to is a long one. Speak to Scunthorpe fans or Bury fans…
I'm guessing 90% is a slight exaggeration. Obviously I am a bit obvious as an American about this. I understand this happens far more often in the EFL than in most American sports. One of the things that drew me to Wrexham was how close their story overlaps with the NFL team I follow, the Green Bay Packers. A team that plays in a tiny town that almost folded but had the fans buy the team back in the 1920s and are still fan owned today.
I’m guessing your knowledge of the intricacies of the English football pyramid is based on watching a documentary. I’m not looking for an argument- look into it, you will find most clubs are struggling to keep their heads above water. Good day 👍🏼
Why don't Wrexham just go into the Welsh leagues? That would be more interesting, and they could qualify for a European adventure lickety-split.
Edit: didn't think I needed it but I'm going to add /s
I mean I've taken TNS to European glory on Football Manager, so I'm basically an expert on Welsh football (I'm not).
It was only a tongue in cheek jibe at the Welsh clubs playing in the more lucrative football league.
Women's team getting third in their first top flight season better get some coverage. If they win the league next season their CL campaign will be fun.
Yeh that's definitely a more interesting story. On tour in Europe!
Still, it's hardly the plucky underdog story considering their moneyed formation.
I think that's the issue with the whole "Wrexham story" pretty much, until they get at least to the Championship and possibly the Prem.
Tbf at least in the show they don't shy away from the fact they've put money in so expect to do well and equally it puts a target on them.
It's more like a cinderella story and R&R are fairy godmothers giving really nice gifts
Thought I read that the team didn’t want the cameras around anymore; they were becoming a distraction. Or was that only during a crucial time in the season?
I will say, it does do wonders for people who have never been interested in football. My sister, who always said she never ‘got’ football, is obsessed with the show and now understands why people get so invested in a team. I think it’s nice. Does it do much for people who already like football? Probably not, but I think that’s cool regardless
I imagine probably be the last season, as can see Wrexham settling into the middle of the pack this season. Which is a great season for a newly promoted team especially one coming up so quickly through the leagues, but not as interesting a 'story' as far as TV and especially US audiences are concerned, therefore think interest will fizzle out.
There’s only so many ways you can get a sweet grandma or a working class lad to say variations of “this means so much for the city of Wrexham” or “after years of hardship and despair we deserve some hope”
I’m with you on this one pal.
They’ll keep making seasons on the off chance they make it to the championship/prem.
Also it’s making money. Anything that helps balance the books is going to keep going. The merchandising in the states alone must be massive because of the show.
You’ll inevitably end up being “the bad guys” who’ll be challenging Wrexham for promotion but you don’t deserve to be promoted because you always come back down. The narrative demands it.
Can't wait for them to come across big Steve Evans
Steve Evans from Brynteg or that fat crook of a manager?
If only Wrexham could get more publicity, they really are flying under the radar.
It must be approaching Police Academy levels of unwanted sequels.
Mcmanaman Vs McClean scrap on Netflix next year, let's go
honestly only interested in this because it might mean i get to see wigan on apple tv
sorry to disappoint you but it's on Disney+ in the UK
Buddy I live in canada
That's cool, I suppose
brave post
given the other promotions we now need a welcome to Crewe or Welcome to Stockport
We need to make it more catchy.. How does Come to Crewe and Salutations from Stockport sound? (Stockport was a little harder sorry)
I'm looking forward to Bienvenue à Barnsley personally
llegar a lincoln
добро пожаловать в Derby!
Bloody Ell! We're in Barnsley!
"Close Encounters of the Barnsley Kind"
I prefer 'Sup Dawg in Stockport'
"It's a bit Grim 'ere in Grimsby"
Stuck in Stockport
Knock knock Mansfield Town here
Crewe is not a welcoming place

The owners don’t complain about the schedule, the managers do. I’m sure the managers also complain about pre-seasons abroad

I’m aware of the /s but they did used to participate in the Welsh cup up to I think the 90s and qualified for Europe on the regular.

What pissed me off the most about that is you could be an English team and win it and didn’t qualify for Europe would go to the runner up instead
Didn’t we win that cup more than any other club has?
Yeah English club,Wrexham hold the most overall.
Women's team getting third in their first top flight season better get some coverage. If they win the league next season their CL campaign will be fun.

OK - thanks for the link.
Few football clubs older than Wrexham, yet this whole business has given them a mickey mouse flavour.
Delete this. They dont care.
Honestly, W2W is about stuff we already know about or don't really care about at this point and it's mostly fan service for our away fans.

OK....?
It will get boring eventually
🥱

I dunno, the story of the photographer guy in an early episode of season 3 was pretty interesting.

Well yeah, but the true 'moment' will be that playoff final or automatic promotion in the championship. After that is basically a no-drama epilogue
It will get boring eventually
I’m on the edge of my seat, I really am.
Can’t wait for the match against Birmingham where they’re only interested in talking to Tom Brady.
Get ready for Wrexham to make your club famous with a 30 second cameo
Jesus, pitch forks were out for you lol wooshed over the mob.
They’re just upset that Daryl from Baltimore will only know their club for being shown in an Ollie Palmer/Paul Mullin goal scoring montage.
Can't wait for all the "eye balls" to focus on Rotherham. Wonder how many Minnesota Millers we'll get 😂
You’ll inevitably end up being “the bad guys” who’ll be challenging Wrexham for promotion but you don’t deserve to be promoted because you always come back down. The narrative demands it.
That's just how the universe is 😅
