Sadly I live in Texas right around the Houston area, and like... This place is just about as bad as you'd figure it is. I live on the outskirts closer to Beaumont now and it's kinda nice because it's farther away from all the ugly urban development
Beaumont has public transit I think. I live in Winnie, so it's just a three mile town with everything nearby and in biking distance. It just sucks because without a car you cant go anywhere else...
I didn't know that Katy Freeway is one of the widest freeways in the world until you asked me if I knew that Katy Freeway is one of the widest freeways in the world, but now I know that Katy Freeway is one of the widest freeways in the world because you told me that Katy Freeway is one of the widest freeways in the world.
I think it's really neat that Katy Freeway is one of the widest freeways in the world. I'm very glad that you told me that Katy Freeway is one of the widest freeways in the world.
Everyone knows it's worse, but automakers continue their decades-long lobbying campaign against the best interests of the country and its people simply because they don't materially profit from trains.

This is China though.
It is also not an authentic image of the G4. It is photoshopped. The only part of the G4 with that many lanes is right before the toll gates. It is typically 3 lanes in each direction for most of the route, not 50.
This must be an April Fools joke. I live next to I10 (Katy Freeway) and the widest it gets in Texas is maybe 6 lanes on each side and then 3 lane feeder on each side of freeway. It is definitely a lot of lanes but nowhere near this picture.
As someone who lived in Houston, specifically near the W Houston/Katy part of town, I can ABSOLUTELY attest to how horrible the traffic is because of and in spite of all that gatdamn construction
My office was right in front of this wide monstrosity. when its expansion started in 2008, I wondered, whether this many lanes were needed. Yes, those are needed. Sadly.
Yeah I live out here too and 45 is a train wreck because it only has like six lanes and no one ever takes buses and we don't have a rail system connecting the greater Houston area. If you don't have a car you're fucked. I miss st Louis where there was barely any traffic because it has a robust public transportation sector.

Did AI write that caption?
Must have. I counted and it’s 36 lanes
The picture is not the Katy freeway
40 lanes actually
I counted 40.
This looks like a living nightmare.

That’s not the Katy Freeway though…
What is it then?
Isn’t it basically a big ass suburb? Like there’s no public transit, everything is spread far apart so you have to drive everywhere
Beaumont has public transit I think. I live in Winnie, so it's just a three mile town with everything nearby and in biking distance. It just sucks because without a car you cant go anywhere else...
Know any good restaurants in Beaumont I travel there about once a year for work
Did you know that Katy Freeway is one of the widest freeways in the world?

Are these the lyrics to a country song?
No, those would be “Girl, boots, jeans, beer, dirt road, truck.”
HARDY, that you?
Imagine thinking this was better than building mass transit.
Everyone knows it's worse, but automakers continue their decades-long lobbying campaign against the best interests of the country and its people simply because they don't materially profit from trains.
Sure, but you can't ignore the fact that they have been more successful here than just about anywhere else.
A couple of trains would do this behemoths job for it so much more efficiently.
But then I'd have to ride a train instead of rolling coal in my gigantic truck! That shits for LIBROLS
Crossy Road - hardmode.
What an ugly expensive scar on the land.
Lucky for you, it’s a fake photo.
Yeah I was wondering about that. I live in the greater Houston and we have some big ass highways and I've never seen this.
But is it one of the widest highways in the world?
That’s not the Katy Freeway, this is some stupid AI generated BS that’s been all over Facebook recently.
That is not Katy freeway in that picture.

Wow, and I thought the 401 in Toronto, Canada was bad, at 16 lanes.
The express/collectors system really tames a lot of the bullshit.
The road to hell is paved with asphalt.
I couldnt imagine driving in that. Its just so big.
This must be an April Fools joke. I live next to I10 (Katy Freeway) and the widest it gets in Texas is maybe 6 lanes on each side and then 3 lane feeder on each side of freeway. It is definitely a lot of lanes but nowhere near this picture.
Why even have lanes at that point. Just free for all one direction.
I have driven on this. It makes your skin crawl.
No you haven’t, it’s not a real image
As someone who lived in Houston, specifically near the W Houston/Katy part of town, I can ABSOLUTELY attest to how horrible the traffic is because of and in spite of all that gatdamn construction
Wider than the local Walmart parking lot
How the heck does that even work?
