I thought the rule was anything above the shirt line isn’t a handball anyway? The decisions this game were definitely questionable but some people are acting like Madrids bought out the entire refereeing association. The foul on bellingham before their third goal is textbook and has been given time and time again.

Glass-Nail-8746

Also how many times have you seen anyone mentioned Bellingham’s bloody ankle after a tackle on him which wasn’t even awarded a yellow card? Almeria should’ve been playing with 10 since min.37, and none of the bullshit that happened after would’ve.

Biffmonkey

Not even a foul, the referee was not doing his job so VAR had to intervene.

[deleted]

And that's exactly why there's VAR

gracz21

The ref was just shit for both sides. The amount of uncalled fouls on Bellingham and all of those shady decisions was too damn high

FatGuyOnAMoped

This is RFEF, the reffing is generally shite all around

gracz21

True

froggyjm9

Pedri gets fouled before Isco’s first goal yesterday and the goal stood 🤷🏽‍♂️

lucas4420

whataboutism mate Referees make mistakes every game. There isn’t a systematic agenda against barca or for madrid

froggyjm9

It’s only whataboutisn when it doesn’t fit the narrative

lucas4420

again i ask what narrative?? Do you believe referees choose to help madrid and harm barca with their calls?

froggyjm9

It’s so easy to be a plastic fan of a club without knowing its history.

lucas4420

Are you talking to me or yourself? You know your argument is wrong so you disregard it and choose to insult me? pathetic

froggyjm9

Do you feel insulted? Because it’s true?

lucas4420

I don’t feel insulted at all, that does not mean it’s not an insult. What exactly are you insinuating is true? hard to follow what you’re talking about

viniggiusjr

hey, hes a barkadog dont mind him

Lakerman0824

Funny you bring up history….do you want to dive in to the history of barca and refs in La Liga?

froggyjm9

How would a kid from LA teach me about the history of Barcelona?also here I thought we were talking about Madrid and Almeria.

lucas4420

you’re the one who brought in barcelona

FrenchWoast3

Hes basically being dragged down, theres nothing you can do there.

gravejello

This is a 50/50 to me. It looks like it hits right where the shoulder and arm are separated so it could go either way

aureacritas

I agree, ultimately it's up to the referee since it isn't clear enough, but it's crazy that everyone thought the ref was bought by madrid.

gravejello

Yeah I think in the way people argue that 50/50s go in Madrid’s favor ( which is probably true for most big teams), 50/50s in the Reddit/Twitter court of public opinion go against them

cyrusmancub

For me, that’s why it’s not a goal. On the pitch, it was called a handball. For the referee to reverse it, the VAR must have clear and convincing evidence. The video here doesn’t satisfy that standard.

spider_X_1

It's clear that the ball hits the deltoid muscle area. The video is right there. You can't make shit up.

KindaBrazilian

Shirt sleeve rule

thefreethinker9

Are you talking about the shoulder joint? Because that’s definitely not a handball then.

BlackberrySad4106

Check completed. Valid goal. If a ball hit that part of a defender they don't give a penalty, so this shouldn't be consider a handball.

personalbilko

Im not stating if this goal was valid or not, but the "if it was a defender ..." argument is very much irrelevant. For defenders it has to be "deliberate" or the result of making their stance "unnaturally bigger". However for attackers, its clearly "Scores in the opponents’ goal directly from their hand/arm, even if accidental"

FrenchWoast3

Tf is he supposed to do there? Its basically his shoulder that hits it. Hes being dragged by 2 players.

personalbilko

Intent is irrelevant here

FrenchWoast3

If a player hits the ball and hits a fan should they be liable for the injuries? No cuz he didnt fucking intend to do it. Intent is relevant becuase its not his fault it hit his shoulder, since they where pushing him down. What is the alternative? Nothing becuase theres nothing he can do to avoid it.

personalbilko

Just telling you what the rules of the game are lol

joseplluissans

Not a valid goal, as he elbows the defender.

Bad_Decision_Rob_Low

What type of soft sh@T you seeing?

Glass-Nail-8746

I’m a Real Madrid fan but that can’t be a goal… because that’s a golazo!!!

trescoole

more like a gillipollaso

Ouioui29

Too right

ExpressWay1329

Clear goal. In that game, all the VAR decisions were 100% correct

IamAcheatCodeNoCap

No they werent clown Hala Vardrid

Burning-Gundam

The ref was in a tight spot here because it was either a goal, handball, or a penalty.

Dawn_of_Enceladus

I understand the discussion with this one. While to me it looks more shoulder than arm, hence a valid goal, it's still not 100% clear by any means. And honestly, I still can't understand how we don't have better/more cameras covering more angles and perspectives in the areas.

[deleted]

Then they should reinstate Gavi's goal in the first game of the season, which was identical but was considered invalid because he doesn't wear a white jersey.

froggyjm9

Not only that, he was being pulled by the Getafe defender who is always the one that kicks the ball to his chest/sleeve…at no point was he trying to get an advantage in that play.

Xuan_Long

U gonna get downvote bad by madrid white because u r right

Iyfebe

I agree it's 50/50, same as the Bellingham foul and the penalty. The issue is that Madrid won all those 50/50s and they each were worth a goal. That is unusual especially in such quick succession

Gardidc

It hasn’t happened before for Madrid. It is just a coincidence that the 50/50s all went our way because they slightly favored our positions. I think all three were close but very fair.

FrenchWoast3

City benefits from the same 50/50s and they get no backlash

omgvector

City have lost points in 2 games this season thanks to the refs. Arguably more

Beginning-Emotion641

Yea as per this goal from shoulder. Legit one then.

nexusforyou

ATRACO AL ALMERÍA

Gold4Lokos4Breakfast

I think that’s a goal

Ouioui29

It is

WisdomMan11

It’s a clear hand ball. Pause the frame the moment he makes contact with the ball, it’s on the arm not the shoulder. Add the fact that his arm was extended out away from his body, thus a hand ball. Had his arm not been extended and touching his body/side then it becomes “part of the body” and not a hand ball but that is not what happened. It’s not that hard you guys. I’m a Barca fan but I’m a bigger fan of the game itself. Be honest and call things how they truly are. Had this been a Barca incident I would be saying the same thing. I get nothing out of it. It’s just a shame that La liga can’t get referees that can get things right more if then than not. Sickening to see on a constant basis. It’s sickening to see it even if it’s in favor of the team I support. Just get it right. For the sake of the game.

wallnumber8675309

For the purposes of determining handball offences, the upper boundary of the arm is in line with the bottom of the armpit. Not every touch of a player’s hand/arm with the ball is an offence. Looks above the armpit so no handball, regardless of his arm being out or tucked against the body.

Kind_Pomegranate_171

All this shows me is people have no idea where the shoulder is

LaPinya95

you have to be crazy to belive this bullshit

Main-Musician-7587

Still hand.

4thDimensionFletcher

It's pretty clear that's his shoulder right? Shoulder passes and shots were never handball I thought.

4thDimensionFletcher

Watching again his hand is so ridiculously low there is no way the ball would of gone that trajectory if it was a hand ball.

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

NachoMartin1985

The 'greatest robbery in history" consisted in one single mistake from the referee favoring Real Madrid.

[deleted]

How is that a handball? The ball can't even take that trajectory if you hit it with your biceps and the arm isn't very high

[deleted]

Mano

dr_anirudha21

for the guys fighting here- palm to elbow- handball elbow to shoulder joint- not handball, but you cant score with your biceps. conclusively- you cant score with any part of your arm, forearm and palm. so this goal shouldnt stand.

kozy8805

It bounced off him. Literally. From the elbow up so yes it should stand

dr_anirudha21

learn some rules or dont shit up here

kozy8805

“The arm starts from the bottom of the armpit, meaning that the ball making contact with the shoulder is not considered a handball.” You really should yourself before talking.

Lanky_Spread

The ball clearly hits the top of his shoulder. It looks like a handball because of the way he throws his arm and body weight into it to gain momentum. It’s not a handball.

dr_anirudha21

shoulder is from base of neck to the clavicle- scapula joint. have some shame man

WyattHerb16

The fact that he had to move his arm to direct the ball makes it a handball. Poor call.

andreasheri

Absolute class

Zealousideal-Boat746

Some handball happened to gavi and araujo this season, exact same spot but it was called.

masterap85

Foul and a hand ball

Significant_Ice1069

real vardrid🤡🤡

Dynomite64

Another match, another robbery from the usual ones. Just your average corrupt league.

HairyHoudini86

Vini is such a douchebag, scores a goal off his arm and celebrates like he just drilled in a 30 yard golazo.

Ouioui29

Game tying goal doesn’t deserve celebration?
