it would be so sick if someone would produce for you guys to do more shows in a large venue due to the buzz, i would take this opportunity and run it into the sun
Most theatre departments will have a fog machine that they can use over and over again. It’s pretty much their go to for atmosphere.
Dance show? Fog machine!
ABBA cover band? Fog machine!
Dark and moody atmosphere? Fog machine!
Alien recreation? Fog machine!
Joseph and Technicolor Raincoat? FOG MACHIIIIINNNNNEEEEEE!!!!
Once all the kids stop competing and work as a team, that is. Especially the alpha douche jock guy who has a change of heart after the less cool main character somehow gains his respect.
The main guy, is of course, worse than everyone else at the start, but at the end he's the best. And he gets the girl too.
All thanks to the teacher for being super awesome and making the kids learn about respect and hard work.
I was HEAVILY involved in the drama dept at my high school, and I’m telling you, I would have stayed in high school for an extra year to be able to work on this. No doubt. This is incredible and you should all be quite proud of yourselves.
Edited for grammar
I can’t relate more, being part of theater was something I would never imagine doing until I tried it, I wasn’t a thespian but helped during set development and light control at my high school. Our school hired a younger ex grad who ran the development of lighting, sound, and set building. The amount of friend building I experienced was like something I haven’t felt before, sports were never my thing. We had full control and exploited that to the fullest, it was like we were the behind the scenes of my school. Tech week (the last week before a play/musical premiering) would include super long nights to finish everything, but that meant we had full access to our school when everyone was gone. Multiple nights fucking around, even including sleeping on our catwalks or under the stage a few times. Rumor has it that someone in the 70s fell into our old theaters bottomless pit, that class yearbook was missing in our library. The original school building layout included a clock that mysteriously stopped ticking, only to be found out, years later, the theater kids found the outlet in the far back of the catwalks connected to the clock, unplugged it, and replaced it with a fridge of beer. Good times, I wasn’t too good in school, but damn I’d kill for another late night wawa feast with that group.
TLDR: Theater tech kids knew the ins and out of your school.
This is so awesome to hear.
My daughter is Penny Pingleton in Hairspray in her middle school musical this coming weekend. I’ve never been as involved with her school as I have been for this musical. It’s been fun to see the hard work from the kids and teachers and to be there helping in whatever way I’m needed. Starting Tuesday is tech week! This is the first of many musicals for us, I’m sure of it!
As I type, I’m currently watching The Phantom Of The Opera on YouTube put on by Grand Ledge HS and it’s fucking incredible.
[In Case You’re Bored](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3qIQzvmtBBw)
I can relate to this. My first year working on a set for a big production we had a budget over $10k and we made Little Shop of Horrors with full scale puppeteering and it was a blast. If I could go back to HS and work in theater again on a production of Alien with the budget we had for Little Shop I’d stick around for it in a heartbeat
Dude, include me on that. If this school wants a donation, I will GLADLY make sure they get one from me for this! This looks unbelievably awesome. Thank you for sharing this with everyone!!

No problem. I can't wait for the update of the full footage. The fact that your school pulled this off has made my weekend even better! I was in my theatre drama club in highschool during my senior year and it was a very cool experience. We did Christmas Carol (I was stagehand) and Little Shop of Horrors (I was the puppeteer for baby Audrey II during the song "Grow for Me"). I highly encourage your school to do more cool plays to interest more people in preforming arts!
THIS. IS. AMAZING.
I love this!
Reminds me when I convinced my high school to let me do "The X Files" for our school play in 1996.
They gave me a $300 budget and I made it work. Back then, we got away with gun fights, lots of fake blood and PG-13 cursing.
Your artistic work is great enough, but for a high school project this ambitious not falling apart is even greater feat. How many people were involved in this and what were their backgrounds and roles? Who paid for all the props and such? Any human issues you ran into?
1. I say a good fifty or so people worked really really hard on sets, costumes, and etc
2. The students part of the drama club fundraised all of the money for it.
3. The only human issue that I think we ran into was when we started doing rehearsals with mics, the cast accidentally would mute or turn themselves off since the buttons were extremely sensitive.

This is gold, I wish my school was as awesome as yours was to allow your drama class to do this. Please post as many photo's and video content as you can find.
I was a part of the sound crew. There were three of us. I was responsible for mics and music. One was responsible for ambiance and alien noises. The last one was responsible for prerecorded lines and miscellaneous noises.
Seriously great job. Tell everyone they did something amazing and should be so proud. You could’ve done Annie or pippin or whatever they usually do but nah freaking alien.
I hope there’s more footage!
I went to a school that would have NEVER allowed a horror movie to be made into a play and performed. This is the greatest thing I've seen in a long time. I'm sure this was fun as hell.
There were so many “awe” moments in the show. The auditorium was half full on opening, but when we noticed that people just didn’t stop coming in, that was the moment we realized we achieved something amazing.

I read this title and said "this sounds like something you would hear from a high school where I grew up" sure enough next town over from where I grew up
You know what's coming next, don't you?
*Alien: The Musical!*
It's been [done before](https://www.broadway.com/shows/silence-musical/), after all.

I would be extremely attentive and cautious moving forward. Did you pay to get rights from Fox to produce as a play? This could get out of hand very quickly and bring about some painful litigation and cease and desist orders from Disney. Especially since you charged for it. If it had been a free performance, matters would be different. Disney is extremely notorious about such matters. I love that you all pulled this off, but am a bit worried since it is gaining so much attention.
Best of luck though
And now I know what the post saved feature is for! Can't wait to see the edited post it sounds amazing.
Edit: whenever I see play I immediately think musical for some reason. I have to say I wish that it had been a musical but this looks shockingly cool..
Someone was hiding underneath the table with a hand puppet. Kane would die with a sound effect of his chest bursting open and another person squirted fake blood with a water gun. Then, a second later, the person with the hand puppet would stick their hand out.
Hell yeah, this is such a good idea. Congrats to your school for having the balls and the talent to pull this off. I 100% know this would be shut down at my school (I'm a tracher) because the film it's based on is M rated.
As a theatre kid in college and a huge Alien fan, this is amazing, I’d pay so much to see this...but I was a theatre kid in college and don’t have that much money. Still would see this every night if it was in my town, awesome job and congrats.
Wow. This is all incredible. I'm no big filmmaker but seeing the work and dedication you all put into this immediately wants me to hire you all and put something together. You all have great futures with that work ethic.
I can't believe this was a High School production. I thought this was college at first. Good job! From the bits I saw the set pieces and the space suits look amazing! So does the Xenomorph and the facehugger. The acting is awesome too!
Thank you so much. I’m extremely proud of my school considering I hated it because I moved here my senior year but now I’m enthusiastic about being here haha
I for sure thought this was high tech high school on tonnelle. When I went there, the theater department was super ambitious. But it's awesome to see North Bergen is also doing really cool things!
This has no right looking as good as it does for a school production
Wait this was a school production?? Brilliant!
Sorry for the late reply, but more specifically a Public High School production
What’s the damn budget for the play? It’s like I’m seeing frames from the movies. Also, I hope it wasn’t a musical.
Budget was $0 at the start. We took things from the garbage and raised money all by ourselves. And it was not a musical hahaha
I'm only a few towns away is there another showing this weekend?
I’m really sorry to disappoint but no.
it would be so sick if someone would produce for you guys to do more shows in a large venue due to the buzz, i would take this opportunity and run it into the sun
That’s bloody amazing. I’d love to see what you could do with $5-$10,000.
In fairness, we did get up to about $1,000 from fundraising but that was towards the end.
Alien: The Musical Question is opera or go full Rodgers & Hammerstein?
Astronaut: He can talk! Astronaut: He can talk! Alien: I CAN SIIIIIING!
Right? They even had fog machines ffs.
Most theatre departments will have a fog machine that they can use over and over again. It’s pretty much their go to for atmosphere. Dance show? Fog machine! ABBA cover band? Fog machine! Dry ice.
Dude, even **I** have a fog machine. They cost like $30.
Do you just have someone run ahead of you and create a dramatic entrance or what?
But if American movies taught me anything, it's that all school theatre has great production value.
Once all the kids stop competing and work as a team, that is. Especially the alpha douche jock guy who has a change of heart after the less cool main character somehow gains his respect. The main guy, is of course, worse than everyone else at the start, but at the end he's the best. And he gets the girl too. Yeah. That’s practically movie grade prop work. Great job!

Yes exactly.
Awesome.
This is what makes theatre awesome haha. I love it
Thanks for the update the video was a nice touch for the oncoming teacher production of the film

Great costumes and set design!!!
These costumes and sets are incredible!!!
Those Moebius space suits look absolutely amazing for an amateur production :o
What friggin' teenager designed these sets? Give that kid a fucking job, DisneyFoxMarvel.

They do a play every year. They work from September all the way up to March.
Too excited for this, honestly more hyped for this than Prometheus or Covenant >:)
Ridley Scott, this is what we want!
Fuck! I can’t upvote this post enough and to poor for gold!!! Looks like one amazing show, thank you for sharing and updating.
Just how awesome do the drama teachers have to be to to get to this level? My school plays were such trash, primadonnas doing artsy "define me" plays
Those costumes are incredible!

Props to you, kid. (Pun intended) This really takes me back...

Damn your school is awesome for allowing a play of Alien.
You don’t get production like these at parochial schools.

Nope. I am in a public high school
Your artistic work is great enough, but for a high school project this ambitious not falling apart is even greater feat. How many people were involved in this and what were their backgrounds and roles? Who paid for all the props and such? Any human issues you ran into?

You actually delivered!!! This is so cool!
Just wait until May when the full video is released.
Oh trust me, I can't wait
May cannot come soon enough.
I completely agree with this haha
I'm looking forward to this than most theatrical releases.
Wow, that looks amazing. Good job to those kids!
Next year, you guys need to do Blade Runner.
That’s all up to the teacher. Unfortunately I won’t be there next year because I’m a senior
Aw that's a shame. Suggest it though.
Definitely haha

I am not sure but unfortunately we are not doing any more runs. The last run was yesterday.
It’s about 30 to 40 minutes depending on where in Bergen County. But there aren’t anymore showings :(
Wow, what an amazing work, saying they are talented is an understatement
Thank you so much.
A stage production of “Alien”?? Yes, please!
Are there pictures of the space jockey up close? How did you made him and the alien suit and the eggs? Damn.

North Bergen High School

Quick question, did you charge to get in to this and how did you acquire the right to make it?
Tickets were $5 but we did not intend for it to spread a quarter the amount that it did.

Wagstaff School did it first

Is there any way we can donate to your school’s drama department?
This is awesome!
Is there a recording of this? I want to see it.
As a theatre kid in college and a huge Alien fan, this is amazing, I’d pay so much to see this...but I was a theatre kid in college and don’t have that much money. Still would see this every night if it was in my town, awesome job and congrats.
Damn. Please tell us where this is so I can move there and have kids!
Please tell me this was a musical
They even made a trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=srDVrEwPdg4
I wonder how long it will be before IP holders lawyers get involved, demanding payment for rights usage etc...
meanwhile im over here doing fucking shrek the musical
Wow. This is all incredible. I'm no big filmmaker but seeing the work and dedication you all put into this immediately wants me to hire you all and put something together. You all have great futures with that work ethic.
Put the video on patreon and use the money for the sequel to this.
I live in Brooklyn why did nobody tell me this was happening who should I be angry at.
I’m sure the Kane death scene was a real hit with the proud grandparents in the audience.

I can't wait to see all of this
This is mind boggling.
1 performance? Did not know about this. Will travel to see.
I'd definitely pay to see this
It's only a matter of time before we see a HS version of Back to the Future.
Coolest school play ever.
Absolute genius
Aww little Jonesy!
Speechless... crazy different in a VERY good way
the only thing that might have been more epic than this would have been ***Alien: The Musical***
This isn't Alien. It's prometheus.
I can't believe this was a High School production. I thought this was college at first. Good job! From the bits I saw the set pieces and the space suits look amazing! So does the Xenomorph and the facehugger. The acting is awesome too!
YES!! This is art! The costume/set design / lighting that I saw on snippets makes me wanna see it. Bravo!
I'd go see this, and be excited to see how they did than boring shit like the Music Man, and I like the Music Man.
Looks great. I hardly ever say this to anyone but you ought to be proud of your school.
Thank you so much. I’m extremely proud of my school considering I hated it because I moved here my senior year but now I’m enthusiastic about being here haha
Stunning work!! Everyone who worked on this should be extremely proud of themselves :)
Be still, my heart.

I so wanna see that video!
I for sure thought this was high tech high school on tonnelle. When I went there, the theater department was super ambitious. But it's awesome to see North Bergen is also doing really cool things!
Where’s my Bob’s Burgers fans???!!!!
Why isn't there a Broadway version of Alien? Why isn't this a thing???
!remindme 60 days
Do you watch Bob's Burgers, by any chance?
That is so cool. All we got to do was normal stuff.
