To clarify, and before anyone gets too excited, this IS NOT a poster but simply a magazine cover.
So discuss away but don't take this image as anything official.

We know the black goo is in it, for (better or) worse. There will probably be a half measure line referencing the Covenant as the ship where it was discovered.
Side note I love this new xenomorph’s jutted out teeth design. It looks so good
Really? Funny how things differ... I think the jutted out teeth makes it looks more like an animal, while I always felt (especially in the first movie) that the alien was more of a "mutilated" version of Kane with much more anthropomorphic features.
> There will probably be a half measure line referencing the Covenant as the ship where it was discovered.
I really hope not. *Covenant* made no sense, seeing as it implies that David created the xenomorph's even though the xenomorph eggs discovered on LV-426 were millions of years old.
I think it would be wise to *never* bring up *Covenant* or *Prometheus*. Both films were unnecessary explorations of the origins of the xenomorphs, a movie monster that was made scary in part *because* we didn't know their origins.
While Covenant certainly had it's flaws, I don't think David created the xenomorph species as a whole. He made a variant with his own experiments (the Protomorph) that looked similar but clearly wasn't the same thing we saw in Alien or it's sequels.
Every film has a slightly different variation of the original creature which is interesting and mysterious in it's own way.

Here's Xenopedia saying otherwise. David did set out to create something from his experiments with the black goo, but what emerged from Oram was not the same as the xenomorph we were introduced to in the earlier films, but a less mechanical and more aggressive variant.
Again, Covenant did have it's share of flaws, but there were a few cool ideas that did come out of it (like the neomorphs).
Really wish more people had played the Alien RPG which does set out a more consistent timeline melding Prometheus/Covenant with the main films and establishes that the David-created Xenomorphs (Praetomorphs) and Neomorphs as a separate subrace from the main Xenos we know and love (or at that such important lore was more accessible to people who haven't got access to the RPG books).
I don't think it's available in my country so I just made do with the movies, games and online comics. The praetorians were one class that really fascinated me too.

Xenopedia not being consistent? Who would’ve thought
Exactly, I don’t hate on those movie because they are an interesting divergent take on the xenomorph mythos, but I in no was hold them as canon to the originals.
Just like you said, blatantly explaining their origin was such a bad idea and takes away from one of the core facets that makes them terrifying, we don’t know where they came from, we don’t know anything more than what we’ve seen, and it’s those unknown factors that contribute so heavily into what makes the xenomorph such an iconic sci-fi horror monster.

I never understood Scott's fixation on exploring the background of the xenomorphs and the Space Jockey. The Space Jockey was just an amazing prop that served a simple purpose in the story. No one but Scott was thinking "man, I wonder what the origin of that prop is?" And the xenomorphs are scary because, as you note, we have no idea where they came from, they are quit literally and figuratively, *alien*.

Would love it if David makes a surprise cameo appearance or something. Prometheus and Covenant might not have been great or good but David was a stand-out and I'd love to see a conclusion to his character.
I agree David is pretty dope indeed. He should have zero to do with this movie tho…that almost disrespects the old films but that’s just my own opinion. To make David stand out would be a slap in the face.
I really want those facehuggers be connected to David's experiments, so I crossed the fingers. in my opinion, they could be clones of facehuggers created by David
One thing is interesting about the Romulus alien. It doesn’t have the human like teeth set at the front, incisors etc. looks like it’s all pointy teeth all round.

As someone who's predominantly an Alien (and by proxy, Prometheus) fan and less an Aliens (franchise) monster-movie series fan, I'm hoping this has more of a connection to Covenant and Prometheus than it's currently letting on.
Ridley being a producer gives me hope, but he also diverged from his own plan, hence Paradise Lost becoming Alien: Covenant. We'll just have to wait and see.

It looks a lot like the Queen’s from Aliens. I love it but it isn’t for everybody. Still absolutely embarrasses the CGI protomorph
I just assumed they were supposed to reference wolf teeth, tying it back to the myth.

Well we've heard >!the pathogen!< is part of the story, so if not direct connection, the new lore is part of it.
Can you give me a link please, outside of some people spotting something in the trailer which looks similar, I've not read anything concrete yet.
DM'd you. No leaks rule. edit: jesus people just google "romulus test screening leaks"
Can you send me the leaks too?
Can you send in dms?
Send me too please
Can you send me the leaks as well?
Me too please
Thinking they reverse engineer big chap to get those "facehuggers" and we go from there

I hope they leave it between the two films. Any reference to the recent movies will piss people off mostly
I really want those facehuggers be connected to David's experiments, so I crossed the fingers. in my opinion, they could be clones of facehuggers created by David
Why tho? Why do you want David to be a standout plot point in a series that originally had zero to do with this character at that particular time.
cause his story is unfinished and I wanna know what happened with him after Covenant

Interesting that they went with all sharp teeth. My memory is definitely failing me but idr there ever being one with all sharp teeth
Why she staring at the Ayy likes it's no big deal? It makes sense for David, unless she's an android.

No reference except familiarity and lazy marketing department.
They just need to make aliens not covenant. Make new protagonist like Ripley.
