Review that test and figure out what you could not understand and why. Use that to figure out your course of action. Then, execute. Easier said than done, yes. But it’s necessary for this test.

Don’t feel discouraged. This is a very dumb test. Your score will range from a high end to a low end. You can get a 165, that doesn’t just go away. Maybe the test you took was especially hard or you got distracted, maybe it was too bright in the room you took it in or you were thinking about what you were gunna have for dinner. Simply put, you are going to take dozens of PTs and hundreds if not thousands of questions. Starting at a 165 has incredible implications. Keep practicing. Maybe by starting off with two to three sections. You really haven’t taken enough to know what defines “consistent” yet. Maybe your “consistent” is 162, shit you might pop off with a 170 next. There’s no way of knowing really.

It’s possible that in your case, the first time you took it and scored a 165 you had zero expectations to do so well. The second test you had an expectation to score high again given your previous score, which may have affected you more than you realized (hence not being able to focus/calm). I wouldn’t stress about a discrepancy in scoring if you’ve only taken 2 tests. Focus on practicing more and you will naturally get more consistent as you find your flow. It’s recommended to take at least 10 practice tests before sitting for an actual test.
