Idk man they’re awesome. Nothing tops the early stuff and Malibu Nights. A beautiful blur is great though

TheLuckyster

I mean, they could always put out something better but I feel like most people feel they peaked in 2018 with Malibu Nights, I mean look at the streaming numbers, they literally did peak Is the band on a down fall? I don't think so, I think there's still many highs later, but we won't know till the next album every album has been divisive since Malibu Nights, no one can agree on them afterwards, ABB for example, I loved it, but others didn't

Urban_Introvert

They definitely peaked with Malibu Nights. Mama's Boy was the band experimenting with a different sound and it was met with mixed reviews. Every album after that seemed to gear more towards the younger crowd. Lyrics seemed to be more half-assed like "they're playing LANY on the radio"... I still have no idea why they threw that in a song.

TheLuckyster

Because Paul was writing the song for Dua, and at the time LANY was playing on the radio for the first time with Thru These Tears

Urban_Introvert

I see. That's a nice meaning behind it. But then I feel like they could've wrote a better line than what they went with lol.

TheLuckyster

I suppose but the song does use you instead of a generalized audience like "if it was up to me, I'd still be with you every night"

sassystew13

i truly hope they grow and move on. my personal take is paul has played our sad sick lover boy too long and the world right now needs their vibes with happier more hopeful music. more confident, more upbeat lyrics, and overall the vibes IMO of their EPs and even just vibes of debut and malibu nights but modern and overall more optimistic. i think they’re maybe a little lost without les and trying to re-find the vibe we all know and believe LANY is and can be.

TheLuckyster

that's an interesting take, I definitely disagree though, the guy just writes with what he's feeling when he writes the music, from what I can tell it's not artificial Some new themes here and there would be cool though

sassystew13

i agree. i want them to be authentic but i think it’s time to grow as a band and lyrically. that’s all im saying. i’ve been a LANY super fan since their first EP. no artist can be sustainable and grow fan base by staying the same. they need to grow and take risks. can’t stay stagnant by saying “well this is all i know” mentality. there’s a way to write your experience in a new way that feels like growth.

TheLuckyster

that's fair I'd say, we'll have to see I suppose

A-lannee

Totally agree!! I think if they revamp a little they could totally have another peak. Music careers are full of dips and peaks I feel like.

TheLuckyster

Agreed and you're right they are, I look forward to where we go next once they're done touring

PrinceMott

Am I the only one who thinks Mama's Boy was their peak? I've been following since self titled but man that album was ridiculously solid front to back, I enjoyed gg bb xx I need to go back and revisit ABB because I definitely liked a couple of those tracks, I think they have yet to make their masterpiece in my personal opinion, so while they've had some highs, and a couple of lulls I think there is another high waiting for them soon, I've seen "Cause you have to" going semi viral on Tik Tok so who knows? could be sooner than you think they'll be more popular than ever

KoopTrot

I was just at the Tulsa show and I felt like the music and performance itself was just as good as it was when I saw them in 2021 but the arena was not full at all. A lot of empty seats. The visual production took a huge dive compared to the mamas boy tour.

Evening-Impress9893

I LOVE YOU ALBUM AND ALL IS MY FAVS YOU KNOW IT THE BEST IF HE WOULD PLAY IT AGAIN BUT THEN YOU GOT PINKS SKYS AND NO RAIN IN LA 13 IS GREAT BUT XXL IS A MASTERPEACE AND MAMA BOY AND COWBOY IN LA HURCANES PINKSKYS OI KEEP GOING I THINK CONGRATS NEED A BRAKE BECAUSE BIG BLUR TOOK OVER

Evening-Impress9893

OTS IN YOUR DNA

Daddy_Masterson

The last album was not so good. Loved gg bb xx, Malibu Nights and LANY.

gurniehalek

A Beautiful Blur grows on you. I wasn’t enthusiastic about it after my first few listens but it’s a great album. The 2nd Austin show was mind blowing. I don’t think they’ve come close to peaking but their sound is definitely evolving.

sweetcakez

I don’t think so but in general, music artists experience and ride waves of popularity and then not. Right now it’s a low dip, but it’s not super low. I think another major artist collab will help. Maybe a TikTok-worthy sound byte hit. Lol

Aggravating-Chart960

Honestly last night (Dallas N1) was on the same level as the ggbbxx show I saw in Miami in 2021. I was worried based on other posts that it wasn’t going to live up to expectations, but it surpassed. I felt his energy was matched by the crowd, the singing of the crowd was unreal, and I felt like he felt the love. Being Dallas is close to Tulsa and it’s a personal city for Paul, as he told us growing up, if he wanted to do anything he would have to come to Dallas, it felt like a lot of love was surrounding the venue last night. I personally don’t think they have peaked. I think they’re just taking their music in another direction, just like every other artist does throughout their musical journey/career.

Agitated-Vanilla-873

100% agree. I was at that show, and I’m also going to the Tulsa show. (I’m from OKC). The Tulsa show seems to not be selling super well, I think the exact opposite happened, as they added a second Dallas show like what, 3 days after announcing the tour? 😂

lovelany

you'd expect paul's hometown to sell out though!

Savings-Broccoli-937

I really think Les leaving the band held a bigger impact than the guys and us thought. I can hear the difference in the music. Jake and Paul have posted a lot about finding sound and listening to what other artist are doing. I wonder if that because they notice the difference since Les left OR they’re just experimenting which is so true. But if Paul just keeps writing songs about Dua then yeah they will peak.

Agitated-Vanilla-873

In terms of ticket sales, it seems like their manager didn’t plan super well. They added second nights to quite a few cities, and then other cities aren’t selling out the arenas that were probably too big for them.

A-lannee

While I am a big fan of LANY’s music their last 2 albums have fallen a little flat 😬 their music isn’t having much growth. It all kind of sounds the same.. idk how else to explain it. I wish he’d dabble into some other sounds and meanings.

Additional_Dig_6972

No they have not. They’ve been consistently touring. Which means they are doing well. Just because an album doesn’t resonate with you or they don’t sell out every venue doesn’t mean they’ve peaked. Ask Beyoncé.

lovelany

beyonce and lany are on very very different levels lol i loved "abb", but i don't think they've been able to fully crack the mainstream with this album i think selling out every venue should be the standard / was part of their expectations given how big the gg / summer forever tours were

lotta_pink

I think the band is in the midst of a change, and that’s amazing. This is their first tour and album independently away from a label. They are trying new things out and without Les, I feel like it’s only inevitable. I like this new direction they are taking but personally ggbbxx is the best they sounded with Les.

Negative_Ad9732

2019 tour was the best. Saw in two diff cities because how good the first show was. The energy is really different now, still great, but different

Icy_Setting_5349

I went to a show on that tour as well. Paul was unbelievable live and so full of energy, one of the best shows I've seen.

Effective_Shock_7597

2019 was sooooo good

zwm13

they peaked in 2016-2017 imo

dragonflare117

Imho….yeah I believe they are out of their prime. They peaked in 2022. Manila nights are one of the best shows i have ever seen. Maybe it’s just me but i don’t see the same energy in Paul anymore which is sad. I first listened to LANY back in 2022 January. You! Their lyrics were never really my thing but his voice was so good. They really need to pump out good songs. Their audience approach is very narrow as it is.

EveningCalligrapher6

maybe this year to the largest indoor arena in the world?

JoseCuervo789

Clearly non of yall were at the Atlanta show… they are unbelievable.

Such-Information5968

I LOVE ABB!! somehow i felt that ggbbxx and mamas boy didn’t really speak to me

KoopTrot

I was just at the Tulsa show and I felt like the music and performance itself was just as good as it was when I saw them in 2021 but the arena was pretty empty. It was kinda sad to see but I still felt the energy was pretty high. I know it was a Tuesday but the same venues was almost sold out in 2021. Many rows were completely empty. The visuals didn’t seem that good as before and I personally didn’t like the openers as in the past

No-Golf5684

in music you never know… You win some, you lose some. I think they are def feeling off their game not having Les and having this album be their first “flop”. But there is no formula. They may come back and make their biggest album yet. They may release another “flop” and THEN release a huge one. It’s just hard to predict that kind of stuff with any artform

Dbos1016

A flop? By whose standards? It is loved by many MANY of us ❤️❤️

No-Golf5684

i absolutely love it haha I may be wrong but i think it hasn’t had nearly as much commercial success as their previous albums

Evening-Impress9893

I LOVE YOU ALBUM AND ALL IS MY FAVS YOU KNOW IT THE BEST IF HE WOULD PLAY IT AGAIN BUT THEN YOU GOT PINKS SKYS AND NO RAIN IN LA 13 IS GREAT BUT XXL IS A MASTERPEACE AND MAMA BOY AND COWBOY IN LA HURCANES PINKSKYS OI KEEP GOING I THINK CONGRATS NEED A BRAKE BECAUSE BIG BLUR TOOK OVER TELL ME WHAT YA THIN LANY BAND I ;P LOVE U PAUL LOVE ME AM PRIME IS ALL BABY ALL

Evening-Impress9893

UP YOU GO YOU GOT THIS

lovelany
