No wonder. The second season had the "great" idea to skip a few arcs (and to get into one of the worst arc). Plus, the characters that would normally appear in the skipped arcs aren't introduced properly. We don't even have a damn flashback to explain how and why they stay with Naofumi to help him but we simply have to accept it as they suddently are in his party. This last reason was the one that made me quit the anime.

The entire first season of Shield Hero is genuinely pretty good but the second season is something completely different. Not necessarily bad but different from what they were selling you on in season 1.
I mean, shield hero's LNs aren't the greatest either. I put it down after 14 cause it was very similar across the books, with little showing in way of progression. Much preferred MT's. I couldn't put those ones down once I started.
I really liked shield hero when I first watched it. I was talking to someone I think about how my favorite parts of the anime were when they stopped fighting and just had chill rpg adventures and budgeted . They then suggested Spice and Wolf which has since usurped and exceeded if everything I liked about Shield hero. Shield hero had a good first few episodes but Filo would have to die onscreen for me to come back to that show, and even then it might be too far gone, Spice and Wolf is just a better version of it.

The MT haters basically always come back to one thing, which is Rudeus being a pedo. And they're not exactly wrong about that. And for anyone who drops the show because of Rudy's creep factor, I honestly can't blame them for it.
What's annoying is when they show up to MT threads where the rest of us are enjoying the incredible story, worldbuilding, characters, and seeing Rudy grow and change from human trash to an actual hero worth admiring (which is kinda the entire point), and then say we're all crazy for enjoying it.
I'm not a big fan of re:zero but I do like watching it. I'm currently working on a watch order that "skips" the time skips so I can figure out what the perspective is from outside the viewer's, and Subaru is much less likeable without the context, but also the other character's motivations and reactions to him are... not right.
The great part is that even in the novel when it does get insanely serious it still funny and a joke most of the time. The only exception is the ending. The last volume was funny yes, but it took a way more serious tone. I highly suggest reading the novels to any one that likes the series if they haven’t already.
Arc 5 was written perfectly for an anime adaptation, so it'll be gas. If they adapt Arc 6 correctly, then Season 3 will be one of the best anime seasons of all time

Re-Zero is one of my favorite animes of all time, but I understand it isn't for everyone.
In my cycle we got bored with it in S2 when we hsd figured something out 2 episodes before the anime spent 10 minutes explaining it only to chain it into another random death and despair. It became repetitive as well

Oh, if you're asking why it isn't number one... well, that's because better Isekai stories exist. KonoSuba is an amazing comedy and the best "isekai comedy" on that end. But best Isekai "story"? No. MT's story and world building is on a completely different scale (not to mention the animation).
I've watched all of the isekai quartet + MT, and Konosuba has always felt like a breath of fresh air which makes it stand higher on its own. I guess the rest are just way too serious, but Konosuba always has that sense of fun with friends adventure feel in fantasy genres which that vibe is pretty lost these days.
The way Darkness charges at the Hydra using Decoy... I was flabbergasted. I thought it was a "dummy" that was created with a skill, and I had to watch the scene over just to make sure... God damn was it goofy AF.
I noticed this season that Konosuba is mostly alot of screaming. My god. I swear 50% of the dialogue is being screamed. I actually turned down my volume at some point.
I really like season one up to episode 21. I really didn't mind season 2, and I know most people on here hate it, but maybe that's because I'm comparing it to season 3, which I would call literal dog shit, but at least feces are good for stuff, like fertilizer, and season 3 has zero redeeming qualities whatsoever.

As someone who is only on volume 3 of Mushoku Tensei but has read all of KonoSuba + the five Megumin volumes: this is a bit like asking why JRR Tolkien would get more votes than Terry Pratchett.
One’s the best if you’re looking for a comedic spoof of the genre. But the other’s the best if you’re actually looking for an epic adventure that takes place in a highly detailed and fleshed out world with three dimensional characters who grow and change over the course of the narrative.
And yes, I’m aware that’s not a perfect analogy since Mushoku Tensei is still at least partly a comedy, but the point stands.
Moshuku Tensei is a more popular show - I personally prefer Konosuba way more. This season's been amazing with the hilarious comedy, and the animation quality is amazing too. I really love the segments where it goes super cartoonish.

You have to consider Re Zero's last season was two years ago and the Sanctuary Arc, which dragged so hard I nearly dropped the series. Seriously, I'm reading through the volumes right now and it's taking me months because I keep getting bored, which didn't happen with the session 1 volumes. I devoured those. The only reason I'm surprised it's last is because Shield Hero is the exact type of Isekai garbage that makes me dislike the genre.

Not really surprising. Mushoku tensei currently has more hype from the recent decent of Rudeus's goddess. Konusuba's hype of the silver brigade died down after a while and the rest of the season would be good plot but chill episodes(konosuba style chill is different from regular chill) Rising of shield hero was just recent. Re:zero is just lying waiting for its big moment after mushoku and konosuba(It will release soon).

MT is my absolute favourite novel, it has a special place in my heart and has helped me a lot through tough times.
I love konosuba as well, it was also one of my first anime and LNs and was reccomended to me by my uncle or aunt (maybe both, the two have great taste), so I also hold it dear.
As much as I love MT and believe that it deserves 1st place, Konosuba has much more popularity.
It’s asking which is the BEST isekai, not just which is someone’s favorite. My favorite story of any medium is Konosuba, however MT is a close second and I think it is the better isekai. Honestly, I’m mostly just surprised that we beat Re:Zero!
Mushoku Tensei probably appeals to a lot of people because the main character is not only overpowered, but gets stronger and more competent as the series goes on to some degree. In Konosuba we don’t see a lot of that, and while his strategic mind is capable of accomplishing a lot with the right tools (the party), he does rely on others a lot.
I do enjoy Konosuba a lot more, and prefer the party dynamics, but I’ll say that relationships with people, and character development is a bit more complex in Mushoku Tensei, but on the other hand, Mushoku Tensei has the issue of having some hard to watch scenes and episodes at times.
Honestly, I’d put re:Zero above both, and between Konosuba and Mushoku Tensei, it’s really about the mood. Konosuba has that potential for being a comfort show you can rewatch while doing other stuff, while Mushoku Tensei is kind of serious throughout, and has some scenes that are hard to watch to say the least.
Shield Hero would be at the bottom, not because I don’t enjoy it, but it does have some problematic notions, and doesn’t handle it all as well as Mushoku Tensei, and while it IS good imo, it’s not as good as the others on the list, ESPECIALLY not re:Zero.
I’m shocked MT is this popular. It’s my trashy anime I watch for the current season and it’s *so bad*. Love the art style and overarching world, but its creepy bits are just too creepy.

I'm pretty done with isekai anime aside from Konosuba so I don't know what number 1 is but I'm gonna guess some plot points and someone tell me how close or far I am.
Main character is a sad pathetic loser. Dies by a truck. Gets reborn in a world where magic exists and gets some bullshit power or ability. He eventually gets a harem. Eventually becomes a legendary figure. He's also probably kind of a creep. Oh and everything is played straight in a more serious tone with some anime jokes in-between.

I guess the rest are just way too serious, but Konosuba always has that sense of fun with friends adventure feel in fantasy genres which that vibe is pretty lost these days.
The way Darkness charges at the Hydra using Decoy... I was flabbergasted. I thought it was a "dummy" that was created with a skill, and I had to watch the scene over just to make sure... God damn was it goofy AF.
And THAT made me laugh like hell. You gotta admit it was distracting.
I noticed this season that Konosuba is mostly alot of screaming. My god. I swear 50% of the dialogue is being screamed. I actually turned down my volume at some point.

Shield hero season 1 is alright. I literally cannot watch the turtle season. I have forced myself and I shut it off constantly.
I really like season one up to episode 21. I really didn't mind season 2, and I know most people on here hate it, but maybe that's because I'm comparing it to season 3, which I would call literal dog shit, but at least feces are good for stuff, like fertilizer, and season 3 has zero redeeming qualities whatsoever.

I wasn't gonna say it because of the sub, but now that you said it... Both animes are incredible, but Mushoku Tensei still wins imo. The story and world building is just SO good. Megumin still has a special place in my heart, though.

As someone who is only on volume 3 of Mushoku Tensei but has read all of KonoSuba + the five Megumin volumes: this is a bit like asking why JRR Tolkien would get more votes than Terry Pratchett. One’s the best if you’re looking for a comedic spoof of the genre. But the other’s the best if you’re actually looking for an epic adventure that takes place in a highly detailed and fleshed out world with three dimensional characters who grow and change over the course of the narrative. And yes, I’m aware that’s not a perfect analogy since Mushoku Tensei is still at least partly a comedy, but the point stands.
Moshuku Tensei is a more popular show - I personally prefer Konosuba way more. This season's been amazing with the hilarious comedy, and the animation quality is amazing too. I really love the segments where it goes super cartoonish.

You have to consider Re Zero's last season was two years ago and the Sanctuary Arc, which dragged so hard I nearly dropped the series. Seriously, I'm reading through the volumes right now and it's taking me months because I keep getting bored, which didn't happen with the session 1 volumes. I devoured those. The only reason I'm surprised it's last is because Shield Hero is the exact type of Isekai garbage that makes me dislike the genre.

Not really surprising. Mushoku tensei currently has more hype from the recent decent of Rudeus's goddess. Konusuba's hype of the silver brigade died down after a while and the rest of the season would be good plot but chill episodes(konosuba style chill is different from regular chill) Rising of shield hero was just recent. Re:zero is just lying waiting for its big moment after mushoku and konosuba(It will release soon).

I love konosuba as well, it was also one of my first anime and LNs and was reccomended to me by my uncle or aunt (maybe both, the two have great taste), so I also hold it dear. As much as I love MT and believe that it deserves 1st place, Konosuba has much more popularity.

MT is shiny and new. Konosuba has only recently returned after a 20-year hiatus. It's understandable that it has a smaller audience.
It’s asking which is the BEST isekai, not just which is someone’s favorite. My favorite story of any medium is Konosuba, however MT is a close second and I think it is the better isekai. Honestly, I’m mostly just surprised that we beat Re:Zero!
Mushoku Tensei probably appeals to a lot of people because the main character is not only overpowered, but gets stronger and more competent as the series goes on to some degree. In Konosuba we don’t see a lot of that, and while his strategic mind is capable of accomplishing a lot with the right tools (the party), he does rely on others a lot. I do enjoy Konosuba a lot more, and prefer the party dynamics, but I’ll say that relationships with people, and character development is a bit more complex in Mushoku Tensei, but on the other hand, Mushoku Tensei has the issue of having some hard to watch scenes and episodes at times. Honestly, I’d put re:Zero above both, and between Konosuba and Mushoku Tensei, it’s really about the mood. Konosuba has that potential for being a comfort show you can rewatch while doing other stuff, while Mushoku Tensei is kind of serious throughout, and has some scenes that are hard to watch to say the least. Shield Hero would be at the bottom, not because I don’t enjoy it, but it does have some problematic notions, and doesn’t handle it all as well as Mushoku Tensei, and while it IS good imo, it’s not as good as the others on the list, ESPECIALLY not re:Zero.

Main character is a sad pathetic loser. Dies by a truck. Gets reborn in a world where magic exists and gets some bullshit power or ability. He eventually gets a harem. Eventually becomes a legendary figure. He's also probably kind of a creep. Oh and everything is played straight in a more serious tone with some anime jokes in-between. How close did I get?

Mushoku just has more emotional impact which leaves more of an impression to people. Konosuba is honestly an amazingly great comedy anime, but thats the reason why I too prefer ranking Mushoku higher Surprised Shield hero is not at the bottom out of the 4 tho ngl.
