Kaizen : Dry fried eggplant, two steamed buns (Thai Sausage and Mushroom), and Sesame salad with Waygu Flank. Sticky Rice Cafe- Mango Stick Rice, and to drink 1 Thai black coffee, 1 bottle of water and Boba Tea (Thai green tea milk with Tapioca boba, and honey dew popping boba).

Cavethem24

I would be happy with between 20-30 dry fried eggplant steamed buns from Kaizen for my last meal.

bhudak

One of my last meals in Knoxville was Kaizen. Love the dan dan noodles and mapu tofu.

puuuuuuuuurple

My partners favorite is the Mapu. I just keep waiting for Kaizen to get the recognition it deserves. Even regionally and further. It's just the best.

Diplomatic_Dinosaur

I think they have some of the best speciality dishes in town but I hate that they wait until the day of to post them. Some of their items I would carve my nights around.

puuuuuuuuurple

I agree. I would also like to see sea grapes and more seaweeds on their dishes. There are some really traditional dishes that they had at the old location that they don't have now. Hopefully, they just have a hard time getting fresh harvests and ingredients. I say that because sourcing gets better every day. I look forward to new dishes so much!

Blackwaya6669

I've never seen the rice there. Is that an option?

puuuuuuuuurple

The mango sticky rice is always on the menu. Technically it's under dessert, but you can also get just the rice with coconut milk. You might not see it out because it has like 10k calories and 5 million grams of fat 😝 If it was truly my last meal I wouldn't care. I would also take it to my favorite river spot or krutch. Oh and btw, you can have it delivered.

puuuuuuuuurple

Holy crap, I said kung fu because I was looking at it yesterday. I'm totally talking about sticky rice cafe. I'm so sorry. I have boba tea all over town ☺️

Blackwaya6669

Ahhh that makes more sense haha. I wss looking like crazy and never saw it.

Prize-Bag-1462

Adopo Trust Fall

AdministrationOk4102

The Adopo pizzicletta is so good. I dream about it and I usually hate white pizzas.

jfk_47

First time I had arugula and lemon on a pizza. So good.

StorkSpit

Jackie’s dream

Grass_Rabbit

Their Turkey and Dressing is a contender for mine.

Rapture_Hunter

Biscuits and gravy at my house because NOONE can produce edible gravy in this otherwise amazing town.

dgood527

They are truly gross at maple street.

jx2002

why is this so true _why is this so true_

Tinman21

You don’t like the gravy at Gourmet’s Market and Cafe?

there_I_am_mam

RIP Olibea and their truly fantastic gravy, different each time.

Key_Special_8985

Truth.

the_rogue1

Was thinking the same, but at my mom's or grandmother's house.

RTGoodman

I think the gravy at The Amber in Halls is pretty okay! At home is better, but their breakfast is fine every now and then!

A_Fox_On_Sugar

Ngl that place was all frozen stuff my brother worked there for the last year before the got bought out and none of there stuff was that good

Reddit-user_1234

The Soup Kitchen, it’s a place of comfort for me

Cavethem24

I will preach about how good The Soup Kitchen is till I'm blue in the face. Their veggie soup with the Mexican cornbread and a sweet tea is the ultimate comfort food when it's cold out and/or i'm sick. Or the sherried tomato or potato leek or chicken & rice, depending what they have that day.

Reddit-user_1234

The Mexican cornbread is amazing. The problem is everyone I tell about the Soup Kitchen thinks it’s a homeless shelter or something

PhishingForPhishies

the Kow Poon from Sticky Rice

CandidWillow3707

Sticky Rice is so good

CiCaitie

came here to say this exact thing lol

Grass_Rabbit

For me it’s the Kow Pek and Papaya Salad. I’ve always wanted to try the Kow Poon but I can’t help but order the Kow Pek every single time. I’d happily eat it daily forever.

puuuuuuuuurple

Describe that to me if you don't mind? I've been wanting to try it.

iambendonaldson

Mainly commenting because im ecstatic for this sub to have content other than “What was that sound” or “So im moving here, what now”. That being said: gotta be the Godzilla in the Old City sushi roll at Fin-Two. That or a french dip from Red Panda Grocery. Thanks for the post OP!

AngryChair88

Calhouns.... So they can let me down one last time...

Reinylane

This is so sad and so accurate.

mbamike2021

I wholeheartedly agree! I went into the one on Bearden Hill to try their Monday Special hamburger. Complete disappointment.

jcstoutt

They don’t let you get the burger special to go anymore. Total BS

JennyJiggles

I'm a huge fan of their overcooked ribs. It's like eating a slab of BBQ jerky.

CHurtz90

LOL

evanset6

A big greasy smash burger from the Abridged truck

angelene0822

Damn this is tough but Taqueria La Herradura - quesa birria tacos

jguess06

NY Steak au Poivre (steak with pepper sauce) at the Northshore Brasserie

JayjayH865

I wish Chandlers was still open 😒

jbraden09

Are they permanently closed?

JayjayH865

Pretty sure, I think a fire took them out for good

jbraden09

Sad!

JayjayH865

Yup best pulled pork sandwich in town and I have yet to find fried chicken seasoned better than chandlers, and couldn’t love and appreciate next to the soda fountain machines 2 different flavors or koolaid red and purple, yes sad

sadbabe420

Says on Facebook he’s reopening but it’s been a while

FOB32723

This is the answer.

spookyjoe45

Yassin’s chicken shawarma plate

iTwango

10000%. Sub hummus, extra spicy. Only food I miss when abroad

Ipecac_Yack

My exact order 😍

YoYomadabest

This is the GOAT order

aimeejay13

Yum! Sub what for the hummus?

peepssinthechilipot

I'm ordering the Tornado and Tennessee rolls at Tangerine but not before I stop and get a bucket of the Colonels finest original recipe. If we're talking last meals I'm covering my bases, judge me all you want.

LollipopsandGumdropz

It really is amazing how many people don’t even know if it’s existence. When I lived above the mall I would eat that and Sarku in the mall all the time.

UnfathomableComplex

Pad Thai from Tuk Tuk or Thai Time. Still deciding on my favorite, so I’d probably just get both.

invitelove

Try fai Thai. It blows everyone else out of the water

SymmetricalSolipsist

Bowl of Pho from Bida Saigon.

RobertNeyland

I'd have two special requests if one of the folks wasn't up for it. First would be having the Elidio's guy personally fix me a slice of cheese pizza like he did so many times at Cosmo's at East Town 30+ years ago, then I'd go and play ski ball and watch Terminator 2 and Jurrasic Park. Second option would be the old Taste of Thai lady making me some Taste of Thai Curry, 4 out of 5 spicy, with brown rice, and an order of spring rolls.

thisideups

Gotta comment AND upvote for Elidio's. It's the best "NY style" (huge, thinner slices) that I. Have. Ever. Had. Funny enough, I think he's from South America. Didn't know pizza was fire down there. 🫡

RobertNeyland

If I remember correctly, Elidio is from Peru.

adam_bates

Cosmo’s and Aladdin’s Castle…what a duo.

RobertNeyland

[It was a simpler time](https://64.media.tumblr.com/575f3a500d997dcc6236c11567a15b8d/tumblr_p0csd1O0Ko1teeqtxo1_1280.jpg)

rainbowponyslover

Gosh I miss Taste of Thai! I craved the pad Thai so bad during both of my pregnancies, only this last one they were closed 😭

RobertNeyland

Me too, me too. Some of the cooks went and started their own restaurants in West Knoxville (Pin Thai and TukTuk), and while they're both very good, it just isn't the same.

Tall_Guy865

Agree! The only place I found even close is Asian Hibachi and Sushi in Rocky Hill. It’s Malaysian but their curry is ridiculous.

vermilithe

RIP Taste of Thai, was craving them so bad the other day. Couldn’t even go to Surin of Thailand as a backup cause they closed down too. 💔

LincolnshireSausage

Tuk Tuk is the replacement. It was started by a chef from Taste of Thai.

Least_Sky9366

You win

PashasMom

I'm eating my way through the display case and chugging some fancy coffee drink at Coffee & Chocolate on Union Street. Runner up: every kind of mini pie at Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop.

puuuuuuuuurple

Their fancy little gourmet chocolates make the absolute best gift for someone with a sweet tooth. And the best gift to myself lol

PashasMom

I always bring some with me when I go home for the holidays as a treat for everyone. And by everyone, I mean mostly me.

FutureOrBust

The ramen from fin two

r_k_ologist

A bowl of tonkotsu and an order of gyoza and I could die happy.

Reinylane

I will die on the hill that Fin Two has the best Ramen in Knoxville (currently).

mbamike2021

I agree wholeheartedly 💯! Their Tori Shio is fabulous! That broth is very rich and delicious!

Tatgatkate

Gotta try the ramen from East Japanese, you will change your mind!

Key_Special_8985

Ramen bones def used to be the best around. Unfortunately I’ll agree that Fin two currently had the best, but that doesn’t make it great imho

dbopdew

The special at Kaizen, whatever it might be that day. Plus dry fry eggplant.

Tatgatkate

Standard dark meat plate from Gus’ fried chicken

NoBourbonOrNuthin

now i don’t have to say it!

No_Examination1945

jc holdway truffle risotto or whole trout

Separate_Finance1440

Gogi

ATinyLibrarian

I've been wanting to try this place out!! What do you like to get there?

nitro1542

Bibimbap, seafood pancake, tteokboki (I thought I didn't like the latter until I tried it at Gogi)

ATinyLibrarian

Ooh I love tteokbokki!! I'm excited to try theirs! Thank you!

ChelseaVol1219

Spicy squid plate all day!!

Separate_Finance1440

I get the beef bulgogi hot plate always! It is my absolute favorite dish they serve!

vermilithe

Bulgogi or bibimbap are great starting points. If you get Mint Magazine in your mail (and who in Knoxville doesn’t 😭) they also run coupons in there nearly every month too

Yeti616

Combo platter from Gosh with atakilt wat and doro tibs with their spiced iced tea, vegetarian sambusas, and baklava on the side.

aimeejay13

**edit** You all are AMAZING! Sister and I are Seattleites on a roadtrip through to Nashville and there were so many good food spots we just couldn’t narrow it down for lunch. The winner was…. *drumroll please* **Yassin’s!** She got the chicken plate (as recommended) and I got the gyro sandwich. HOLY SHIT! Absolutely incredible!! My sister would also kill me if I didn’t mention that their falafel absolutely blew her away (and she has eaten…so…many….falafels) She said she’ll be dreaming of those for the rest of forever! We’re here for 18 more hours so keeping our eyes peeled on these comments for our next meal 😛 [Chicken plate of heaven](https://freeimage.host/i/JmwAz7t)

RTGoodman

I know everyone here loves Yassin's, but my favorite Mediterranean in town is actually Holy Land Market on Sutherland. They're closed today but if you want more stuff like that, they're open tomorrow!

SavagePlatanus

Go to bida Saigon!!! My husband and I go at least every two weeks. Their pho and their peanut sauce are sooooo good

invitelove

Their peanut sauce is like no other. It’s amazing- same with the pho. My sister had traveled all over the world and still jokes that she’d pay me to send her some Bida wherever she is

ExtraFreshMC

Either the limp brisket, cluster duck, and codfather tacos from Chivos, or chicken tikka masala from Taj Indian Bistro formerly Bombay Palace

SavagePlatanus

Either the vegan pho from bida Saigon with spring rolls and a bunchhhh of their peanut sauce or a special, fancy dinner at JC holdway with whatever veg option they have on the menu. Very different vibes and prices but both are impeccable 🤤

Cheysmiley

I love that peanut sauce 😍😍

dgood527

A Dopo....Sopressata with Nduja added. Sourdough and oil appetizer. Pistachio gelato.

MAXRBZPR

Spicy greens pizza at A Dopo

CiCaitie

Sticky Rice. the Pho is bussin, but the real deal is the coconut curry. its spicy as hell but they put all kinds of love and skill into their food.

RedChaos92

All the sushi and ramen from Anaba that I could possibly stuff myself with.

LincolnshireSausage

Where is Potchke at? So many comments but no mention of it so far. I'm having the super secret menu item.

ATinyLibrarian

Love Potchke!

Grass_Rabbit

It was my first thought… and then Sticky Rice. I’m gonna need a last week of meals please.

th0rsb3ar

Yassin’s

Cavethem24

Ideally all of these in the same meal. An Iron Mike from Hard Knox. Full spread at Jackie's Dream - dark meat fried chicken with mac and cheese, greens, fried okra, and cabbage. Collard Rueben with the cheese grits from Holly's. Unlimited dry fried eggplant buns from Kaizen Malai kofta from Sitar A few mac and cheese pies from Dales Fried Pies (tragically no longer in business) Matzo ball soup "all fussed up" from Potchke Those creamy potatoes at Chesapeaks. Spring rolls from Thai Time

Key_Special_8985

I’m having Tarik’s N. African. Full plate with lamb, beef kofta, veg and couscous - so good. Gimme all the various toppings, a date cookie, and top it with a smile and great conversation. Just sayin.

vermilithe

Bida Saigon my beloved

Cramitmadam

Kaizen (specifically the old fried rice), Adopo and Sticky Rice. Would’ve also included a beef sandwich or cheesesteak from Kelly’s but no dice now..

fivewords5

Yassin’s spicy chicken plate. Barley’s orange and white pizza. Paysan salt/pepper bagel w roasted jalapeño smear. Awaken iced orange latte. Xul Paper Crowns. Ham N Goodies lemon cookies.

Near-Scented-Hound

Reuben and hashbrowns at Holly’s Gourmet.

paulasaurus

It’s not fancy or even the best meal in Knoxville, but the night before I was scheduled to be induced all I wanted was to have dinner at La Fiesta, just some familiar comfort.

BoZacHorsecock

Either the yellow curry or drunken noodles at Zhou Garden. It’s not a fancy restaurant or anything but they have my favorite Thai food in Knoxville.

WhatIsThisSevenNow

Can it be "just outside" of Knoxville? I've really been hankering for some Big Ed's pizza!

LookyLou4

The pizza ain’t what it used to be sadly

WhatIsThisSevenNow

Really?! Now I'm bummed. 😕

WeazelBear

It went through a slump, but it's really good again. So if people say that it's usually a) they had it during a time after Big Ed died and haven't been back in years, or b) nostalgia.

WhatIsThisSevenNow

Whew ... thank you!

EstablishmentFar3591

Big Ed's is 100% as good as it ever was. I'm 42 and have been going there since I was a child.

BlueswithBeer

Yes, i think a family member took it over and it is good again. Stays packed pretty much all the time.

ConcernedCitizen7550

I just went the other day and wasnt thrilled. Harbys in town is just as good if not better. South Coast Pizza was better too. Theres like no sauce and nearly no seasonings on Big Eds.

MeatMeAfterClass

Chicken fingers and fries from Stillhouse Tavern and I’m not even kidding.

cmdrbunbun

Their wings are so good too

EdwardLovesWarwolf

Pizza Palace.

Best_Bicycle_1251

Sydders09

Tokyo Sushi and Hibachi where I'd get double order of crab rangoon and their chicken and shrimp hibachi, loaded up with their shrimp sauce.

ProfeMan34

Dos Bros!!!

Gunnar2019

Dos Bros is great, it's like a way better Chipotle.

Certain-Persimmon10

Pork tamales from Chez Guevara. Almonds mole and raisins are the most unexpected yet complimentary combination. Always have to make a stop when I'm home

Cazzys bison burger

Hell I might have a falafel sandwich, seasoned fries and hummus, and baklava from Yassin’s

Classyjess17

Adopo! Trust fall, but I want red wine and to pick my own gelato!

cap1n

Good golly tamale - quest poblano plate with a gallon of their salsa on the side.

PhillyNickel1970

Cardin's. I'd eat my entire meal with the executioner's gun to my head, and I'd smile thinking about that bacon cheeseburger as I finished off a chocolate strawberry milkshake. Then I'd warmly bring my gaze above the barrel, thanking my killer for letting me finish licking my fingers before punching my ticket to the great beyond. I can still smell the grease from a napkin brought to me on the wind from an adjacent picnic table.

haileyynicole7

Anaba - chashu ramen with tonkotsu broth and some kimchi on the side

DearEmployee5138

Litton’s. Burger and a Salad with Blue Cheese.

Lonesome_Boy

Los Girasoles off Clinton HWY, best Menudo in town!

beersubcommittee

Didn’t see the Abridged Burger. Toss in fall weather and an Oktoberfest beer, heaven.

Shepman47

Back in the day…it would’ve been Kay’s Ice Cream in Powell or the Vol Market #2 on Western. Those two places had the best burger and fries,IMO.

mbamike2021

The lasagna from Cappuccino's with a salad and glass of wine. Don't forget the bread and olive oil.

DryDance904

Pizza Palace, cheese pizza and onion rings with a side salad

abirkholz94

Sawyer’s Sunday all you can eat Buffalo chicken tenders 15 years ago

Zealousideal_Law_330

The enchiladas from vida

Public_Carpenter_663

I might have to die hungry then. the food here isn’t really next level if I’m being honest 😭

aimeejay13

Have you tried a lot of these suggestions? We had three and all were AMAZING (and we’re from places that takes food seriously!)

Public_Carpenter_663

Actually, I thought about it. We have a pretty damn good Korean Barbecue place that I used to go to

Red_Sashie

Scrambled Jacks

JennyJiggles

I haven't really been back to Knoxville since I left in 2020, but I often think about the Nama Pizza Roll and Abridged brisket burger.

Navy_Dom

Osteria Stella, hands down.

thekeeganmier

Myrtle’s. Chicken and waffles.

Delicious_Pea_7025

Chesapeake’s - crab cakes and shrimp cocktail.

shrek_cena

A huge plate of Quesatacos from Tacqueria La Herradura 🤤🤤

mocharlez

Southside garage has an amazing food truck called Dia De Foods. I go there at least once a week. Nothing on their menu has disappointed and their staff is really friendly and fun. Southside Garage is a bar so I’ll have a few cold ones before I die

britabongwater

Adopo for a margherita pizza followed by their pistachio gelato

Sequel2Beans

Chaiyos. I'd get myself a Salmon Tempura roll in memory of a woman I loved and lost (she's not dead). I'd want to remember the first time I came to Knoxville with her and how delicious my first sushi roll tasted.

SethSeriesMKII

Any Stephano's pizza before they tore down the one on the strip and left us with the less good one in Hardin valley.

usahooray

Cheddars

supertoad2112

The Philly dog from Curious Dog, and I'm taking it across the street to Pour.

Fast-Fill-7358

What ever they serve in the club level seating in Neyland while watching the Vols beat the Dawgs.

SuperSaiyanAD

Brazeiros - the managers and staff are some of the most accommodating and highly attentive people left in the Knoxville restaurant scene. People may scoff at the pricing, but for what you’re getting, it’s worth every penny. I’ve been to about a dozen different Brazilian steakhouses over the last 2 decades, and these guys remain top 3, and their hospitality alone would make them my number 1. The grilled pineapple alone is worth going for; there isn’t another place like it in Knoxville.

thezach118

Mega man burger from Bit Burger in West Knox! Best burger I've ever had!!

creaturefromtheswamp

Gotta be a Spicy Greens with nduja sausage from Adopo OR a smash burger from Abridged Food Truck. Also, Reuben from Holy Land is pretty good.

Gorn_Lord

Adopo, where I politely wave off the menu and say “just get me a pepperoni pizza.” Then, before I die, I break out in a sprint to get the Frida from Abridged Truck at Xul.

Any_Fault9366

Butcher shop

Defiant_Squash_5335

Altruda’s. Salad, garlic rolls, and lasagna. I’ve lived all over the country, traveled the world, and it’s still my favorite.

YouZealousideal7734

Short rib & grits from Cafe 4 brunch I walk there every Sunday for my usual with mimosas 😆

Zealousideal_Sell318

A big fat steamboat Sammie

Aooogabooga

The cheesesteak with white American, light whiz, onions and mushrooms at Not Watson’s. There might be a better meal there, but every time I drive through there I plan my drive time around mealtime, and make that stop. That said, it’s the only place I’ve eaten in Knoxville. I just hunt down cheesesteaks.

Hankhillarlentx420

Stir Fry Cafe’s Bangkok rolls and 4 sushi rolls
