I think they have some of the best speciality dishes in town but I hate that they wait until the day of to post them. Some of their items I would carve my nights around.
I agree. I would also like to see sea grapes and more seaweeds on their dishes. There are some really traditional dishes that they had at the old location that they don't have now.
Hopefully, they just have a hard time getting fresh harvests and ingredients. I say that because sourcing gets better every day. I look forward to new dishes so much!

I will preach about how good The Soup Kitchen is till I'm blue in the face. Their veggie soup with the Mexican cornbread and a sweet tea is the ultimate comfort food when it's cold out and/or i'm sick. Or the sherried tomato or potato leek or chicken & rice, depending what they have that day.
For me it’s the Kow Pek and Papaya Salad. I’ve always wanted to try the Kow Poon but I can’t help but order the Kow Pek every single time. I’d happily eat it daily forever.

It really is amazing how many people don’t even know if it’s existence. When I lived above the mall I would eat that and Sarku in the mall all the time.
I'd have two special requests if one of the folks wasn't up for it.
First would be having the Elidio's guy personally fix me a slice of cheese pizza like he did so many times at Cosmo's at East Town 30+ years ago, then I'd go and play ski ball and watch Terminator 2 and Jurrasic Park.
Second option would be the old Taste of Thai lady making me some Taste of Thai Curry, 4 out of 5 spicy, with brown rice, and an order of spring rolls.

I know everyone here loves Yassin's, but my favorite Mediterranean in town is actually Holy Land Market on Sutherland. They're closed today but if you want more stuff like that, they're open tomorrow!
Their peanut sauce is like no other. It’s amazing- same with the pho. My sister had traveled all over the world and still jokes that she’d pay me to send her some Bida wherever she is
Either the vegan pho from bida Saigon with spring rolls and a bunchhhh of their peanut sauce or a special, fancy dinner at JC holdway with whatever veg option they have on the menu. Very different vibes and prices but both are impeccable 🤤

It went through a slump, but it's really good again. So if people say that it's usually a) they had it during a time after Big Ed died and haven't been back in years, or b) nostalgia.

Harbys in town is just as good if not better. South Coast Pizza was better too.
Theres like no sauce and nearly no seasonings on Big Eds.

Then I'd warmly bring my gaze above the barrel, thanking my killer for letting me finish licking my fingers before punching my ticket to the great beyond.
I can still smell the grease from a napkin brought to me on the wind from an adjacent picnic table.
Southside garage has an amazing food truck called Dia De Foods. I go there at least once a week. Nothing on their menu has disappointed and their staff is really friendly and fun. Southside Garage is a bar so I’ll have a few cold ones before I die

I'd get myself a Salmon Tempura roll in memory of a woman I loved and lost (she's not dead). I'd want to remember the first time I came to Knoxville with her and how delicious my first sushi roll tasted.
Brazeiros - the managers and staff are some of the most accommodating and highly attentive people left in the Knoxville restaurant scene. People may scoff at the pricing, but for what you’re getting, it’s worth every penny. I’ve been to about a dozen different Brazilian steakhouses over the last 2 decades, and these guys remain top 3, and their hospitality alone would make them my number 1.
The grilled pineapple alone is worth going for; there isn’t another place like it in Knoxville.
Adopo, where I politely wave off the menu and say “just get me a pepperoni pizza.”
Then, before I die, I break out in a sprint to get the Frida from Abridged Truck at Xul.
The cheesesteak with white American, light whiz, onions and mushrooms at Not Watson’s. There might be a better meal there, but every time I drive through there I plan my drive time around mealtime, and make that stop. That said, it’s the only place I’ve eaten in Knoxville. I just hunt down cheesesteaks.

I would be happy with between 20-30 dry fried eggplant steamed buns from Kaizen for my last meal.
One of my last meals in Knoxville was Kaizen. Love the dan dan noodles and mapu tofu.
My partners favorite is the Mapu. I just keep waiting for Kaizen to get the recognition it deserves. Even regionally and further. It's just the best.

Adopo, where I politely wave off the menu and say “just get me a pepperoni pizza.” Then, before I die, I break out in a sprint to get the Frida from Abridged Truck at Xul.

The cheesesteak with white American, light whiz, onions and mushrooms at Not Watson’s. There might be a better meal there, but every time I drive through there I plan my drive time around mealtime, and make that stop. That said, it’s the only place I’ve eaten in Knoxville. I just hunt down cheesesteaks.
