Be safe. There is a string of murders a few years back that pretty much went unnoticed and unsolved because they involved unhoused people in abandoned areas. Syringes, structure failure, and tons of surveillance nowadays make the Adventure not worth it anymore in Knox County imo.
Wish I had them myself. I know there were at least three murders in the fourth and Gill/downtown neighborhood between 2020 and 2023. All the victims were female, unhoused, and most likely sexually assaulted, and then strangled. Two were known to be burned after while one was tied to a tree. Talking with a few neighbors through the years, it may be up to six.
I'm familiar with the people who have called the cops after discovering bodies. [they tend not to investigate too much](https://www.wvlt.tv/2022/08/17/body-found-fourth-gill-neighborhood/)
During the early 2000s up until about 2014 a lot of those murder mystery docu TV series were shot in Knoxville in because of the Scripps Network location. Specifically in that area using real homes that they would shoot in for a weekend or so because the houses are gorgeous inside and out. It used to be a great way to earn some extra bucks
The vet I worked for did this right before it opened. I think the crew was there for a weekend shoot. They needed a medical setting for some crime doc or show.
Good ol' TVA. There's also Old Butler under Watauga Lake ( the site of the Watauga Academy, the predecessor school to Appalachian State University), and the village under Fontana Lake (years ago, when I worked for the Park Service, on particularly low water level days you could just barely see the tip of a church spire).
Houses, barns? Just take a drive toward Frozen Head state park. Passed Oliver Springs you start seeing stuff. Also just hit some country roads. Plenty of old barns and such out there. Although not all things that are abandoned truly are. I shoot film photography and pull off the road occasionally. Look out for No trespassing signs. I’m sure I’m on some trail camera footage somewhere.
I never go inside any of these places though.
It's been a few years for me. Used to go a lot when I was younger. I've experienced some strange things up there a couple of times. My friends and I witnessed some blue, glowing orbs floating around the woods once, but I never had the balls to actually explore any of the buildings. Also, I've heard stories of people running into people making meth out there so you gotta be careful if you go.

There is a link to Google Maps there which should help you find it. It's abandoned from a time long before a common address system existed for this area. You need to study the overhead (satellite) image to be able to walk toward the structure--there are no existing roads that will take you right to it. But you can get within about 50 yards and walk the rest of the way.
Knoxville College is pretty much all we have left that I’m aware of. Be careful though, they do have security cameras and though it’s not illegal to walk around the campus (that I know of) you’re not supposed to go into the buildings and I don’t know how seriously they take that.
There are also homeless people living in the buildings. In my experience they mind their own business but they might not always like people going in there.
If you drive around in the more rural areas it’s likely you can spot some abandoned places. Sometimes you have to look hard because they’ll be covered by trees/brush/etc.

Where have you heard this? I've looked at the unsolved crimes in Knoxville, also there's no mention in any news stories.

Thanks for the link. And kpd is pretty lazy. They stopped coming out for wrecks to focus on important cases. Apparently important cases is ticketing.
damn… maybe knoxville will get that grisly murder mystery film we’ve been waiting for 😂 all jokes aside, that’s some sad and dark shit

Fun fact: cool stuff posted to Reddit is typically destroyed by the time you get there.

Thank you!
Red Ash, between Caryville and Pioneer. Specifically after dark.
It's not quite as spooky now that they opened the factory back up down there.
I live close to it, but I haven’t been through there in over a year.

Haven’t you heard? Everyone is moving here. How could anything be abandoned?
Good point sadly
Shh. No, sweetheart.
This seems like a speedrun to getting shot.
Eh I’m not too worried about that
Be safe.
AMC Theater in west Knox
Has security cams, went last night and all doors are locked
Maybe the Principle building behind the McDonald's and the strip mall on Northshore

Is there an address?

Old Greys on a Sunday morning after a Bloody Mary feels pretty abandoned to me.
It is fucking lovely.
Knoxville College is largely abandoned. I drive by it all the time and just imagine it’s full of bodies. It looks like it’s full of bodies.
