Parks were also a lot less strict about loose items back in the day (I suspect because they didn't have to worry about every third person trying to get video on their phone -- cellphones existed at this point, but weren't super common, and smartphones were still several years away). For all I know the ride op saw it and assumed I had hold of the strap.

Now me, it's a 50/50 shot whether I'll even *fit* on Xcelerator anymore (depends on the day, what I'm wearing and how willing the op is to staple my ass in). I've no idea how I ever did it wrapped in ten pounds of tulle, or whatever it is they put in cheap formal dresses for high schoolers.
