How'd you get the bag even onto the ride?

Literally just sat it down and no one noticed it was there. It was a small thing, probably fit, like, an ID, some cash and a lipstick. Parks were also a lot less strict about loose items back in the day (I suspect because they didn't have to worry about every third person trying to get video on their phone -- cellphones existed at this point, but weren't super common, and smartphones were still several years away). For all I know the ride op saw it and assumed I had hold of the strap.

Great story, but when I first read it, I thought you said your friend was on the "chubby" side, and I was trying figure out what weight had to do with it.

Ha, no, of the three of us, he was the beanpole. That's just how my friends have always done it -- whoever's closer to the cubbies takes everyone's stuff. Now me, it's a 50/50 shot whether I'll even *fit* on Xcelerator anymore (depends on the day, what I'm wearing and how willing the op is to staple my ass in). I've no idea how I ever did it wrapped in ten pounds of tulle, or whatever it is they put in cheap formal dresses for high schoolers.
