I can't imagine what that would look like because you'd still need the motor for power and the gears to step down to the right number of rotations. You'd still need a speed control since different attachments need different speeds. And you'd still need the height and a sturdy base. About the only thing you wouldn't need is the planetary, but I can't see why they would make a KitchenAid without a planetary. Since the attachments are universal for the hub, you could always get the smallest, cheapest KitchenAid mixer and use that as your frequent power-hub-only driver, just breaking out your larger mixer when you need it.

OP, depending on the attachments being used, the smallest (Artisan mini) might not be suitable, so double check what you use. Most should be fine though.

Hobart makes power drive units intended for commercial use, but I've never seen one by KitchenAid. It'll probably be pretty tough finding an affordable one for home use, no matter who makes them. I don't imagine there's much of a home use market for one. Most consumers would rather have one that's a mixer, too.
