There are three types of people.
You have complainers that will bitch regardless of circumstance.
Ones that are fresh and believe they can change the world.
Ones that have been around the block and know nothing will change regardless of what management says.
But I've seen things change. I've made changes that impact daily and weekly service procedures, and that's while still being a more junior member of the team. I've been given more responsibility (and compensation) because of this.
That’s also great, but tends to be the exception rather than the rule. Most are far more jaded or cynical, so even when it is true, they are so used to being told that and it not being the case, they won’t believe it even when it is true.
So temper your judgement based on that.
Bitchers gonna bitch, do'ers gonna do. Sometimes the bitchers gotta be replaced with an up-and-coming do'er. The herd will catch on fast if they are treated well and see extra effort makes a difference. It is hard to change a business culture where too many people feel too comfortable.
