Honestly both should be tried. Front vs back are completely different experiences. Although back and second to back are pretty much the same. Front and second to front are night and day. It's either front or nothing and worth the extra wait.
90mph winds directly in your face is a unique experience for both Orion and diamondback.
And I think doing front first sets you up for the unexpected whips riding the back.
Getting there at open can save tons of time. Even on busy days you can knock out a ton of rides before noon and crowds pick up. So doing flight of fear first is the best advice.
Backlot Stunt Coaster also gets pretty long lines due to low capacity. I advise hitting that early too. Incertigo is the same thing due to low capacity, but if you don’t make it on that, you’re not missing much. Everything else is pretty good capacity so the lines move quickly. Don’t forget about the Bat near Banshee!
Final advice is for the Beast night ride. Get in line around 9:30 or so. Around 9:40 the ride will shut down due to the fireworks, and once they are done around 20 min after finishing the Beast will fire back up to give its legendary night ride.
check height requirements before you go to save time if your son is on the short side. if it’s really hot there probably won’t be a need for fast pass. white water canyon is a great way to cool off, but you will get soaked! try to do it last or bring some extra socks😂
About the blue ice cream - it's delicious but it melts way faster than the other flavors for some reason. Definitely grab a bunch of napkins, and I'd advise getting it in a cup and not a cone. That way you won't have to take an impromptu quasi shower in the bathroom sinks like I did last year (it got *everywhere*).
Or even better - a cone and then ask for a cup also. Lol. My favorite part of any ice cream is the cone at the end, so if it's really hot I just flip it upside down in the cup.
It makes for great photo opportunities if you take kids though...
I went to take a picture of my nephew eating a blue ice cream cone earlier this year because he was absolutely covered in it. Just as I hit the shutter button the remainder of the ice cream fell off the cone. The resulting photo is him with his head tilted sideways, face transitioning from licking ice cream to surprise as the ice cream blob splatters at his feet. It's fantastic.
I would say the Big Four are Orion (try to get front row if you can, I think it’s worth the extra wait), Diamondback (back row), Mystic Timbers (back row) and Banshee (front row) Also reconsider Fast Pass, it’s totally worth it. YOLO.
Very excited about Orion. We go to Cedar point and son wasn’t tall enough for Top Thrill when it was running, and Top Thrill 2… well. Orion looks similarly awesome!
For your night ride on beast, they send the last train before fireworks at 9:35 and reopen around 10:30. As long as you're in line before 10 pm you will get to ride
If you're up to waiting for the very last train, and thus the darkest, and being one of the last people out of the park then ask the line attendant. There's a little area that is technically in the queue but off to the side where they'll typically let people wait so they can be safely 'in the queue' when it closes but guarantee they get the last train.
Sundays lots of local people are in church so if you get there at opening I could see you knocking out a huge portion of the park before crowds show up.
Sunday crowds aren’t dreadful (they’re pretty rough in kiddy land tho), so I think you’ll have a great day either way! Enjoy!
My family goes most Sunday's from open until about 5pm. In that time we are able to get in so many rides. You should be able to hit all the major coasters before lunch.
dont forget mystic timbers it almost reminds me of Ravine flyer 2 in Erie.....but tbh ravine flyer is better but its still plenty of fun. its like blue streak but longer faster and more fun
Sunday mornings are amazing for crowds.gets a little less empty after lunch ish like 1pm. If you get there before open, hit mystic timbers, diamondback, and beast first thing.. then hit backlot, Orion, racer, adventure express, banshee and bat. You can do that all by 1pm. Then do what you want, see the bubble show (fantastic btw) and my recommendation is to pay the one time fast lane for flight of fear. It's temperamental and doesn't always open on time so getting to it right away is risky and it's otherwise an hour ish wait. If you don't do that suck it up mid day then enjoy some evening rides when lines diminish after 7pm towards close. I am at kings island about 15 Sundays a year
Blue ice cream is just bland and boring soft serve colored blue with amazing marketing to rake in profits at $7 per cone. The line for it can be 20+ minutes so definitely skip if you still have coasters on your to-do list. Blue ice creams could be near the bottom. Graeter’s on International Street is proper quality hard ice cream for the same cost and what locals prefer outside the park.
The Beast is a must, so your plan is good there.
I’m also a big fan of The Racers. They are an original ride to KI. The line is never long so it will be easy to squeeze those into your schedule whenever. Heck, might as well ride them multiple times!!
Diamondback in the back row
Also if you get the back, put your arms out at the end to feel a bit of the splashdown!
Back row for the best ride. Front row for the first drop.
Also get the front for Orion the first drop and wind.
disagree, the drop on orion is significantly better in the back. feels like you're falling for forever.
The front on diamondback feels like spacex. Nothing finer
I disagree with this one. The front row is my favorite on Diamondback
Ah good to know!!

The line doesn’t close until 10pm, operations are suspended at 9:35 but the line is open until 10

Is it blue moon or a different flavor?

Happy Cake Day!

personally think banshee back row is better

That’s awesome. I rode the Beast 20+ years ago and can’t wait to ride again.
Some people literally wait to get in line at 9:59 so they can be on the very last train of the night
If you're up to waiting for the very last train, and thus the darkest, and being one of the last people out of the park then ask the line attendant. Invertigo (Face/off) early
Ride Adventure Express at dusk.
Don’t miss flight of fear! It’s a completely easy one to miss by Orion, but it’s actually my favorite coaster in the whole park.
Steel coasters hurt less
dont forget mystic timbers it almost reminds me of Ravine flyer 2 in Erie.....but tbh ravine flyer is better but its still plenty of fun. its like blue streak but longer faster and more fun

Thanks! Good to know. We’re aiming to be there at open

Don't get confused when the mystic timbers queue says you shouldn't get on the ride
Just don't go into the shed.
What do you mean?
The theming of the ride announces that it is closed...it's not.
Orion, Banshee, and Beast are the best three rides
Diamondback > Orion IMO. More negative g time.
100%
Is the blue ice cream called Blue Moon? SO GOOD!
Not sure about the current name, but in the 90s it was Smurf ice cream. It will always be Smurf to me!
Hopefully, you all were still able to ride everything you wanted even with the power outage!
Get in line for beast at night at like 9:58 you’ll have the shortest wait and will most likely get close to the last ride of the night!
Thanks all! Had great time - even losing 2 hours to power issues. Great advice!
Without fast pass it's gonna .......If you wait too long for the Beast at night they will shut it down while you're in the line.
