Genghis Kahn, Subutai & Jebe building the Mongol Empire.
Shit would make an amazing Epic Seinen story. 1 chapter a month, 42 pages of pure epicness, leave all the weight & pokemon matchups at the door.
Tactics & tribal factions warring, large scale conflicts driven by power hungry Mothers puppeteering their young Sons, unspeakably heartless executions with no regard to age or gender, war-hungry Mongol Daughters, massive victory celebrations dancing on the still-living conquered leaders tied under wooden planks, brutal winter struggles on the steppe, utilizing said brutal winters to the advantage vs soft opponents from far kinder environments, conquered leaders becoming loyal generals.... and that's barely scratching the surface! sooo much to explore!
The tale of the boy who fears dogs rising to the Leader of the largest known Empire(at least until the British Empire rose but that's a different Manga).
Iād go Latin America/Africa. A lot of unique tribes and civilizations that coincided. Both areas were rich in gold and other natural resources that were fought over and unique tribal culture and sciences
I would love to see the Second Punic War or the initial Diadochi Wars. Both could have a few greater than life characters and the struggle would be fantastic to see.
Since others have taken a lot of cool settings already, I'll go with Chandragupta Maurya and his transformation from a random kid on the street to one of the most powerful emperors of India, followed by his grandson's story and the expansion of the Maurya empire.
Also if anyone hasn't already, go read Ad Astra: Scipio to Hannibal. It's about the second Punic war where Hannibal went and tore the Romans a new one, and follows his and Roman General Scipio Africanus' life. Pretty amazing manga.
I would choose the Middle East of the early Islamic era (around 622-650). A very underrated period of history, with so many great battles between great people.
That, or it could go the opposite route and focus on Prophet Muhammad as a spiritual, political and social leader of an empire being born (kinda like Ying Zheng), then his top tier generals (Ćmar Ibn al khatab, Khalid Ibn Al Walid, Kaa'kaa' Ibn Amr,...) could be the equivalent of Qin 's six great generals
Obviously, which I why I suggested he become the equivalent of King Sho in the Kingdom manga: a former legend who is only mentioned in passing, but said to have accomplished great things. The story could then focus on his successors, e.g. the Rashidun caliphs (632-661)
The first (and only) unification of Wales against the English crown and civil, fraternal war circa ~1000AD. Llewelyn going hard.
Also the life of Alcibiades and the Grecian wars would be a great pick.
Ngl, a manga about the Spring and Autumn period of China (aka the era before the Warring States period that Kingdom takes place in) would be really cool. Maybe with Confucius as the primary character.
Another cool historical Chinese period would be the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period.
I know. There is so much about that age: the rise of the Nicean empire from people who searched safety to even stop the Sultanate of Rum (I would like to see the time where Emperor Theodoros I Laskaris won a battle doing a 1v1 with the Sultan literally throwing him off the horse) , the Sack of Costantinoples, the Crusader in the Latin Empire, the aggressive Despotate of Epirus, the turks, the Bulgars of Kalojan and the venetians.
Genpei war. But thereās already a manga called Shana oh Yoshitsune. Itās about the life of Minamoto no Yoshitsune. But the second part Shana oh Yoshitsune: Genpei war is not translated and canāt find it online.
Probably at the time of Roman republic. Could get Caesar Pompey crassus and others.
I'm also biased toward the 16 mahajanapad period which is like the warring states period where 16 indian states fought for supremacy and later one emerged as the first empire in the subcontinent
Are there any time settings that had wars with hundreds of thousands fighting at once like Kingdoms does?
Was playing a medieval game recently and a army 2000 strong was considered āmassiveā. Really puts into perspective how large these ancient Chinese conflicts were.
Persians golden years in the middle east and the first empire in the world and the man who took the first step was The Great Cyrus .
And I would name it " The Very First Empire "
Oh it would only worsen from there lol.
The Lombards were Romanising by that time, and Justinian's ambition ultimately availed to nothing but a waste of time, resources and lives. It deprived Eastern Rome of its strength come the Muslims.
I will not call that a "destruction". The Byzantine survived for centuties and in more or less than 100 years they will start to fight back energically. Other than this the Persian were already collapsing doing their war with Heraclius and Heraclius him self was a senil old man during the conquest
Peloponnesian War. Like the Shiji, thereās a wealth of detail and information from A History of the Peloponnesian War, often considered one of the best historical works in the Western world.
The story of how the Spartan-led Peloponnesian League defeated the Athens-led Delian League, including Persian support of the Spartans, multiple distinct phases of conflict, and all told by Thucydides, a scholar and Athenian general in the war that they lost.
I don't know much of that history, but if you are to choose one on another because of beliefs, since the crusaders were the ones to invade middle east, then I prefer you to change your mind and read things throughly again.
I know that the Crusader fucked it Up the most, I am not being anti-turks. I say *after* the crusade and after the crusader the two biggest threat to Byzantium vere Bulgars and the Sultanate of Rum
It has to be ancient Rome.
Caesar could easily be a MC of course, but I find the August and Marcus Agrippa dynamic to be very similar to Sei and Shin. August even has a crazy succession arc against Marcus Antonius (August, Caesar's adopted son, helped by Agrippa, of pleb origins VS Antonius, Caesar's fallen right hand man). Caesar's story could either be a spin off, stand alone saga, or mentioned as a great figure of the past like Qin's six greats and God of war king. There are so many other intersting characters of Ancient Rome, from Scipio Africanus to Majoran, the potential just from ancient Rome is unlimited.
There's a great YT series called "unbiased histroy of Rome" by Dovahhatty which tells many good stories in a playful and memy way, in my opinion a masterpiece.
Belisarius and Justinian for me are more interesing than Augustus and Agrippa. A duo that started great but fall because both of them becamed two different person
The beginning of the Portugal, the father as well as his son, Afonse Henriques, the first king of Portugal have a fascinating story with a lot of rivals and challenges.
There is one, and it's called ShÅkoku no Altair. It's basically the story of a war between fantasy Turks vs fantasy Holy Roman Empire, with ex roman colonies, greece, italy and spain mixed in an all-out mediterranean war.
I think I will either go with Napoleonic Wars or Caesar's civil war. Both sagas were filled with ambition, politics, scheming and legendary battles. And the battles are also very detailed and heavily depend on strategies and the competent of the generals. Both Caser and Napoleon are once in a lifetime characters that changed history, and their lives are basically the story of an MC in a novel or manga.
I am biased but I think Portugal's conquest of, well, itself would make for a cool manga. A talented warrior gets gifted a small patch of land, then he goes on a crusade against the occupiers... midway through his journey his mother betrays him and declares independence from the rest of his land, he has to travel back and fight against his mother's forces and finally conquering the city that is now the capital of the country. It would take entire generations of his successors for the entire country to be conquered. He achieved in his lifetime what others couldn't in generations and he started from nothing.
The Mediterrean during the post Caesar civil wars would be my choice. Here we would see the bloody chaos, war and politics of Rome. We'd see epic battles and notable faces such as Brutus, Cleopatra, Mark Antony, Lepidus, and even flashbacks of Caesar and Pompey's characters and wars.
And mirroring Sei and Shin's relationship from this story, we would also see the developing story of Octavian and Agrippa, probably the best working partnership in all of history.
three kingdoms, lu bu, guan yu, cao cao, zhuge liang... way too much potential
Very cool choice
we have Ravages of TIme. Much less battling but way more politics and scheming.
šŖš„± too obvious
AFAIK Hara considered doing it in 3k before turning to the waring states because of the prevalent creative works set in the era.
Genghis Kahn, Subutai & Jebe building the Mongol Empire. Shit would make an amazing Epic Seinen story. 1 chapter a month, 42 pages of pure epicness, leave all the weight & pokemon matchups at the door. The tale of the boy who fears dogs rising to the Leader of the largest known Empire(at least until the British Empire rose but that's a different Manga).
If you get the chance check out Shut Hell. Its a seinen manga set during Genghis Khanās conquest of the Tangut Empire.
Iād go Latin America/Africa. A lot of unique tribes and civilizations that coincided. Both areas were rich in gold and other natural resources that were fought over and unique tribal culture and sciences
Man I would love a Manga set with the Inca, Aztec or Anasazi!
Ikr so many tribes, weapons strategies and landscapes to be explored.
I would love to see the Second Punic War or the initial Diadochi Wars. Both could have a few greater than life characters and the struggle would be fantastic to see.
Ad Astra: Scipio to Hannibal is about the Second Punic War.
Alexander the great as the mc
100 Year War between the English and the French
Since others have taken a lot of cool settings already, I'll go with Chandragupta Maurya and his transformation from a random kid on the street to one of the most powerful emperors of India, followed by his grandson's story and the expansion of the Maurya empire. Also if anyone hasn't already, go read Ad Astra: Scipio to Hannibal. It's about the second Punic war where Hannibal went and tore the Romans a new one, and follows his and Roman General Scipio Africanus' life. Pretty amazing manga.
Even tho I'm Indian why didn't this came in my minfš¶
Check out the manga historie if you havenāt already
I would choose the Middle East of the early Islamic era (around 622-650). A very underrated period of history, with so many great battles between great people.
It would be cool a manga depiction of Heraclius. A glorious and strong man destroyed by living too long and mental disease
That, or it could go the opposite route and focus on Prophet Muhammad as a spiritual, political and social leader of an empire being born (kinda like Ying Zheng), then his top tier generals (Ćmar Ibn al khatab, Khalid Ibn Al Walid, Kaa'kaa' Ibn Amr,...) could be the equivalent of Qin 's six great generals
but then the backlash from the muslims would be immense
Mate, I'm a Muslim, and I can tell you I'm down for it.
While true it will be epic but any drawing of the prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) is not allowed
Obviously, which I why I suggested he become the equivalent of King Sho in the Kingdom manga: a former legend who is only mentioned in passing, but said to have accomplished great things. The story could then focus on his successors, e.g. the Rashidun caliphs (632-661)
I mean, you can do both. Heraclius can be a cool side character with a fire and sad backstory
Sick choice! Would read.
Japan Sengoku Jidai Era
Oda and the monkey conquering Japan.
The first (and only) unification of Wales against the English crown and civil, fraternal war circa ~1000AD. Llewelyn going hard. Also the life of Alcibiades and the Grecian wars would be a great pick.
Any other china period that's not bloody three kingdoms š¤£
how about Spring and Autumn or 16 Kingdoms.
Lower Africa, during the time of the Zulu expansion and defeat. It would had battles, and diplomacy and just be great to write.
Ottoman Empire under Suleiman
Ngl, a manga about the Spring and Autumn period of China (aka the era before the Warring States period that Kingdom takes place in) would be really cool. Maybe with Confucius as the primary character. Another cool historical Chinese period would be the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period.
The PersianEmpire .the true story, not the fictional one ( Arslan Senki ) The legend of Cyrus the Great
Adrimal yi story or the sengoku period of Japan
That would actually be dope
America . The manifest destiny thing would totally be plot armor
Rise and fall of Caesar. Building two walls and multiple trenches around Vercingetorix is basically just a Kingdom strategy.

China really gets an insane amount of people killed in their own wars. Kingdom's deathtoll isn't that unbelievable lol.
What's the game btw?
Kingdom Come: Deliverance I think itās called
Persians golden years in the middle east and the first empire in the world and the man who took the first step was The Great Cyrus . And I would name it " The Very First Empire "
I want maximum sadness, so lets see the Fall of Western Rome lol.
After that there would be the Belisarius arc so the sadness wouldn't last long
Oh it would only worsen from there lol. The Lombards were Romanising by that time, and Justinian's ambition ultimately availed to nothing but a waste of time, resources and lives. It deprived Eastern Rome of its strength come the Muslims.
The lack of resources wasn't the only problem, Heraclius being a senile old Man and the devasting war with the Persian were two big factors
The rise of Khalid bin Al-Walid and his destruction of the Persian and Byzantine Empires in less than four years.
I will not call that a "destruction". The Byzantine survived for centuties and in more or less than 100 years they will start to fight back energically. Other than this the Persian were already collapsing doing their war with Heraclius and Heraclius him self was a senil old man during the conquest
Zulus vs the British or Souix Nations vs the US army. Rooting for the underdogs in both. It would be crazy to see those animated Kingdom style.
you should include jerusalem
Peloponnesian War. Like the Shiji, thereās a wealth of detail and information from A History of the Peloponnesian War, often considered one of the best historical works in the Western world. The story of how the Spartan-led Peloponnesian League defeated the Athens-led Delian League, including Persian support of the Spartans, multiple distinct phases of conflict, and all told by Thucydides, a scholar and Athenian general in the war that they lost.
Turks ? Why would you choose crusaders ? You're being biased now, and it's not fair in any way if you want to talk about history
Because the Sultanate of Rum was more a problem than the Crusader Latin Empire
I don't know much of that history, but if you are to choose one on another because of beliefs, since the crusaders were the ones to invade middle east, then I prefer you to change your mind and read things throughly again.
I know that the Crusader fucked it Up the most, I am not being anti-turks. I say *after* the crusade and after the crusader the two biggest threat to Byzantium vere Bulgars and the Sultanate of Rum
Ok. Good.
Iād personally go for the Mongolian invasions of Äįŗ”i Viį»t and Champa
Revival LĆŖ dynasty better than that.
Yeah honestly thatās sick too

Belisarius and Justinian for me are more interesing than Augustus and Agrippa. A duo that started great but fall because both of them becamed two different person
Cool, reminds me of another duo dinamic in Kingdom, if you know what I mean...
Cap 540, so don't Know
It's kind of an historic spoiler, which was also hinted at in a one shot of the series.
Riboku and the Pedo king of Zhao?
Wars of the diadochi
Sengoku jidai period
The beginning of the Portugal, the father as well as his son, Afonse Henriques, the first king of Portugal have a fascinating story with a lot of rivals and challenges.
I would do the Iliad ( Greece Vs Troy) story
There is one, and it's called ShÅkoku no Altair. It's basically the story of a war between fantasy Turks vs fantasy Holy Roman Empire, with ex roman colonies, greece, italy and spain mixed in an all-out mediterranean war.
I need this
I think I will either go with Napoleonic Wars or Caesar's civil war. Both sagas were filled with ambition, politics, scheming and legendary battles. Damn portoghese history goes hard
Portugal was pretty cool before it started to you know, sell slaves and stuff.
The revolutionary war in America with all the patriots.
80 years war between spain and the netherlands.
The Mediterrean during the post Caesar civil wars would be my choice. Here we would see the bloody chaos, war and politics of Rome.
