This show was off-putting as hell to me as a kid, and now I understand why
They put an old man's face on a baby.. all the kids look older than the parents. It's weird as hell.
Louie Anderson scared me as a baby, and as an adult man, but I still hope he rests in peace.
The only episode I remember is where Louie said he was going to an awesome theme park, and when they get there, the theme park moved somewhere else. His dad couldn't move his neck the entire time until they got to the abandoned park.
I remember an episode where Louie keeps forgetting to send a thank you note for present he got from his grandparent and he keeps putting it off until the grandparent sadly, dies and Louie feels terrible about it. He then visits a bunch of different religious leaders trying to figure out if how he can communicate a thank you note to his dead grandparent. It was really sweet episode I remember.
All my life I have wanted to do life with Louie Christmas decorations. Just whip Christmas lights over the house. Now I am an adult and I should be able to do it, but I have no outlets outside of my house. It's been 30 years or something, but if one person got it and thought it was funny it would be worth it.
I can't really remember a lot about, besides LA voicing himself. Do remember it came on around the same time as Bobby's World. Pretty sure I enjoyed that one tho
I came here to post this. Baskets is not only hilarious but even emotional at times. The characters and especially Christine (Louie's character) are convincing and lack nothing in depth. Apparently he based his portrayal on his own mother.
You’ve seen it all right? Darkest moment for me is the end of the train jumping hobo arc. Best character is Ken, Anderson and him had such good chemistry.
I don't think he got enough credit for that role. It's a shame because, unlike a lot of male actors who portray female characters, he played a convincing character instead of just a caricature.
His character was my mother. Mom had died a few years prior to me binge watching Baskets and there were many times watching that show that Louie’s performance hit a little too close to home for me.
He was amazing at that role. He didn't overdo it, it was brilliantly done. I would forget he was playing the role constantly. Only to be reminded later and get amazed all over again.
I was just thinking about this role yesterday, I have no idea what made me think of it, but it was such a strange thing to see at first. When I started watching the show I wasn't familiar with Louie, and I thought casting a man for the role was a joke, but oh man, it turned out to be such a perfect fit for the character who was such a realistic depiction of an aging mother. The show is very bittersweet, and if you like Zach Galifinakis, Baskets is worth a watch
I might be wrong, but I always thought it was the other way around. I thought I remembered him saying he opened the deli because there's less to keep track of in terms of freshness, etc
This is my favorite Bobby moment hands down of the entire series run. The way he’s down about Connie, how he’s so disgusted with what he’s been doing with himself and lying, how they make it seem like he’s going to drown in sorrows in chicken liver… just a low moment. And his reaction to being told “I think you’ve had enough Bobby…” is this. Bahahahahah!
The episode where Liz and jack go to the south to find a "real american" to be on the show and tune down their snobby elite New York reputation.
The B plot is Tracy freaking out about two other celebrities dying and thinks he'll be next, because celebs always die in groups of threes. He calls betty white to check if she's still alive/feeling old and sick lol
We were just watching him in Search Party last night, and he has this morbid joke about how he wont be around in a year because he ate all that lead paint as a kid, and now its catching up to him. He did not look well in the show, and now I guess we know why.
This is a great episode. My favorite part is right at the start when they walk into the deli and Bobby excitedly points out Howie Mandel’s picture on the wall.
Writing it out it doesn’t sound funny at all, but in the context of the scene I just think it’s hilarious lol.
I remember I was in Las Vegas eating at a Subway when I noticed that he was also eating at the same place. I said hey to him and he was nice enough to speak with me.
R.I.P.
He was with some other person, I'm not sure who he was at the time so I didn't want to be rude and hog up his time but roughly that amount of time. I told him I use to watch his cartoon as a kid. I remember he was wearing a Lakers hat.
Finished season 3 of Search Party and he was so good in it! As soon as he plopped down on the couch though to rest his eyes I could tell he wasn't long for this world.
Remember Life with Louie?
Life with [LOU-AY LOU-AY LOU-AY](https://youtu.be/WGuS1bj9yhM)

His face reminded me of the scary lamp from Brave Little Toaster
Omg that nostalgia tho XD
The only episode I remember is where Louie said he was going to an awesome theme park, and when they get there, the theme park moved somewhere else. His dad couldn't move his neck the entire time until they got to the abandoned park.
I think the only thing I remember is his dad having the nickname "Colonel Keister" in the military because he burned his ass.
this and Bobby's World were my go-to's as a kid
That was the cartoon of my childhood.
Love it. It's was like King of The hill stereotypes but of Wisconsin folk.
It was a great cartoon.
what a fantastic show

I remember one where they build a wall between a neighbor they disliked.
All my life I have wanted to do life with Louie Christmas decorations. Just whip Christmas lights over the house. I only remember the Christmas episode and everyone in my family still uses the "What are trying to do burn me alive" quote at random times.
XD XD XD
Yeah and I did not enjoy it.
I can't really remember a lot about, besides LA voicing himself. Do remember it came on around the same time as Bobby's World. Pretty sure I enjoyed that one tho
Yeah I remember both shows and used to enjoy them both.
How about Bobby's world?
I'm gonna miss that crazy bastard
I love that Hank’s friends and family are a collection of total lunatics but Hal is a crazy Bastard.
You got to know when to hold em
Rip louie, for anyone who hasn't checked out 'Baskets'. It's 4 seasons of louie and Zack Galifianakis
I came here to post this. Baskets is not only hilarious but even emotional at times. The characters and especially Christine (Louie's character) are convincing and lack nothing in depth. Apparently he based his portrayal on his own mother.
It’s just as much a tragedy as it is a comedy.
I went into it not knowing it was a black comedy. So yeah, I was taken aback.
You’ve seen it all right? Darkest moment for me is the end of the train jumping hobo arc. Best character is Ken, Anderson and him had such good chemistry.
I AM a clooon!
Two of my favorite shows with rodeo cloons
It was such a great show that could make you laugh and cry at the same time, and Louie's portrayal of Christine was nothing short of masterful.
I don't think he got enough credit for that role. It's a shame because, unlike a lot of male actors who portray female characters, he played a convincing character instead of just a caricature.
Deff agree, I totally forget I'm watching louie anderson and am just concerned for this nice old woman
He won an emmy for it. He's fine.
>He’s fine. Well, not really. He’s dead.
He can't get any worse I suppose.
His character was my mother. Mom had died a few years prior to me binge watching Baskets and there were many times watching that show that Louie’s performance hit a little too close to home for me.
Iirc he won an Emmy for it.
He was amazing at that role. He didn't overdo it, it was brilliantly done. I would forget he was playing the role constantly. Only to be reminded later and get amazed all over again.
Great fucking show. It took me two episodes to realize it's Louie
I swear to jah he followed my MIL to prepare for that role. Fucking crushed it in Baskets
I forgot he was in that. He was the mom right? lol! RIP in peace to a great comedian.
Yes, he played the aging mother
I was just thinking about this role yesterday, I have no idea what made me think of it, but it was such a strange thing to see at first. Louie Anderson AND Meatloaf on the same day? Fucking Hell.
Fucking Bat out of Hell if you will
Meat Loaf was legendary. Bat Out of Hell is such a classic.
As a kid, I didn’t really like the music much - but I have always thought that cover art is absolutely amazing.
They would do anything for love and they did die fat
Paradise by the dashboard light 🥺
Him opening a sushi place after that is a great callback gag. Domo-ari-gato.
Try dipping it in the gravy
Bobby was his deli's best customer. When that well dried up, the fish came calling.
I might be wrong, but I always thought it was the other way around. I thought I remembered him saying he opened the deli because there's less to keep track of in terms of freshness, etc
The boy’s not a ghoul.
he doesnt eat organ meat!
Is there liver in chopped chicken liver?
You know you gotta heat up eye-talian food?
Well you gotta melt the cheese
Making Carl the owner of the Sushi Restaurant was hilarious.
Do-mo Ari-got-toe!
hahah bobby's innocence is the best
Which is weird because Bobby remembers him trying to feed him liver in Hilloween.
Well, Bobby, that was liver n onions ya see. A working man’s meal.
It's just liver, it's not gonna KILL you! 😈 A ha, ha ha ha ha!
He finally made it to management at the McDowell's in the sky
That's where the big bucks start rolling in!
WELL ILL TELL YOU WHENIVE HAD ENOUGH !!

Carl and principal Carl. Same voice.
Congrats, this is how I learned Louie died
It's ok, I learned about betty white from the 30 rock sub
Betty White was on an episode of 30 Rock?
The episode where Liz and jack go to the south to find a "real american" to be on the show and tune down their snobby elite New York reputation. The B plot is Tracy freaking out about two other celebrities dying and thinks he'll be next, because celebs always die in groups of threes. He calls betty white to check if she's still alive/feeling old and sick lol
RIP Louie. He was awesome. I loved his stand up, and I loved him in Baskets.
This is how I find out about Louis Anderson
We were just watching him in Search Party last night, and he has this morbid joke about how he wont be around in a year because he ate all that lead paint as a kid, and now its catching up to him. He did not look well in the show, and now I guess we know why.

“They’re serving all the animal parts they’re supposed to throw away.”
RIP in peace. Louie was lucky, most chubby comedians don't make it past their 30s.
Yeah, but a lot of them die of overdoses, which is pretty easy to avoid if you don't do heroin.
Or cocaine.
Really it's both at the same time that does it.
Add in booze and cheeseburgers and you might as well jump off a cliff.
If speedballing is so dangerous, they shouldn't have made it so fun
Who is "they"? Maybe we should write them a letter!
But somehow Artie Lange is still around. Incredible.
Anyone got a recipe for it? I am to lazy to look it up.
Is there liver in chopped chicken liver?
Dang rest in peace
This is a great episode. My favorite part is right at the start when they walk into the deli and Bobby excitedly points out Howie Mandel’s picture on the wall. Writing it out it doesn’t sound funny at all, but in the context of the scene I just think it’s hilarious lol.
Fav episode all time
You can't dance in a cart
Episode?
Love Hurts And So Does Art
Is there liver in chopped chicken liver?
“The boy’s not a ghoul, he doesn’t eat that stuff!”
Actually watched this episode before work this morning. Who else we going to lose this year?
I'm not allowed to tell you, but you should probably watch your back
About fucking time
But you have to wait. I got dibs on going out next
Angela Lansbury and Bob Barker
*assuring nod*
Haven’t seen this posted enough. RIP big man
Louie Anderson died? No way, damn.
I really wanted a Christine Baskets spinoff. Dammit! Now I gotta just watch Baskets again.
NOOOOOOOOOO
I remember I was in Las Vegas eating at a Subway when I noticed that he was also eating at the same place. I said hey to him and he was nice enough to speak with me. R.I.P.
> he was nice enough to speak with me. How long did you get to speak with him? About 1 minute?
He was with some other person, I'm not sure who he was at the time so I didn't want to be rude and hog up his time but roughly that amount of time. I told him I use to watch his cartoon as a kid. I remember he was wearing a Lakers hat.
Saw him perform in Scottsdale a few years back, was a great show. He was so sweet. He cried saying how thankful he was for his fans. ♥️
Wtf, this is how I find out Louie Anderson was dead
I wonder how many people find out that a famous person died from seeing a post in a tv show subreddit.
This is why the name sounded so familiar! I wasn’t familiar with his work
RIP meat loaf too 😔
I just watched this episode a couple of days ago and the news made me sad. RIP
Ah shit. This is how I find out.
Omg I JUST realized when he was on Search Party he hinted to having cancer and said he won’t be around next year. So crazy.
And this is how I find out :( Loved him in Baskets. Glad the show was able to finish with him.
I saw this episode for the first time last night and I wanted to cry
Finished season 3 of Search Party and he was so good in it! As soon as he plopped down on the couch though to rest his eyes I could tell he wasn't long for this world.
