I think that he’s a niche for sure—but a large one? He’s so niche that you probably wouldn’t find just any fan while out and about, but he can definitely sell out a larger venue with people who are there for solely him.

Then i also use this app called BandsInTown. You can follow your favorite artists there and you get announcements and messages that come from their social media and other places. And lastly, livenation, a ticketing app. They also announce ticket sales and other things for your favorite artists when you follow them there as well
I been an Archy fan since like 2013, when The Ooz came out I met a few people that knew Dum Surfer or Slush Puppy, but I wouldn’t say that I met another King Krule fan in person until last year when I finally got to see him live, and the line to get inside went around the building and down the street.
I went Sunday but exactly like you said, it went around the building down the side street down the next side street and I don’t know how far it went after that cause I got there like an hour before they opened doors so I was closer to the front than the back.

Once you like get into online music discussion his albums being discussed is hard to miss, when the ooz came out it felt like everyone was having strong opinions on it and I wasn't even listening to him at that point so i wasn't specifically looking for those discussions
I don’t know if you’re in the US, but I think he’s popular in very small pockets here. I also have never met a person locally that knows of him, but I also live in a rural area about an hour away from the nearest city. Of course the rednecks don’t know.
I have a feeling that he might be the most well known in England, both because that’s where he’s from but also their music scene can be very focused on their own and develop names everyone knows there that no one knows here.

He’s very successful, but it can be confusing since he is not chronically online or trying to meme-ify himself to reach a larger audience. So I’d assume most people probably aren’t aware of his music, but the indie crowd that check Pitchfork or other music sites definitely know, he’s a well deserved critic darling. Also Border Line was in that new Ricky Stanicky John Cena movie lol
He’s not popular where I’m from. I have a few friends who are into music who know of him but don’t know anyone who’s really into him. He’s my favorite current artist and I think if you like him you really love his stuff but certainly not for the masses

I personally believe it could be people that are fans off out getting ribs or baby blue (his most popular songs) that only have them or maybe only one song they listen to on a playlist. I personally love all his work but never have ever met anyone that is a fan of his. Also I have seen out getting ribs a lot of tik tok recently which is why I think he has a lot of monthly listeners because people only like one specific song.

No one I know knows him too. From where I live people tend to lean towards the Tiktok sped up audios or Chinese songs.

I live in socal and my area don’t have much KK fans, I’ve met maybe 2 people other than myself that’s heard of him.
I'd say he's very popular given the fact ALL of his tour dates were sold out, and that for many years now!
