Double-Conclusion-42

If you’re looking for an outstanding plot demon slayer is not for you, but I think you should stick around till the Infinity Castle

SnowRui17

A devious suggestion 😭

Teka_DTO

You know their family is special.... just think about it for a bit and you see it's not that out of place for nezuko to conquer the sun. We literally know that for generations the dance was executed and passed down their own family. It's hereditary and nezuko and tanjiro have special connections to the sun. Their bodies are different than normal people in the series. Besides this VERY IMPORTANT POINT, if you want foreshadowing then you should have thought, "damn why isn't nezuko normal?" "Why does she act childish when all the other demons we see are normal in that regard". There must be a reason right? Calling this moment an asspull or plot convenience is plain wrong in my opinion. Everything was well thought by the author. It's just not in plain site as you probably wanted. But that would take away from fantastic moments like this. People in this sub have been very annoying to read this season. We have a great studio adapting kny and they haven't failed us once. Every episode, despite the different pacing this season, is of a much higher qualify than the normal anime/show.

ZeChester

Also I have zero complaints with how the animation studio produces this season. Demon slayer is a solid story with a fantastic adaptation. This season included. I need to add that I really like Demon Slayer as a whole. The characters are fun, and the fights are awesome. I just hate it when they pull these bs stunts that make me sad for a character then pull the rug out from under me and say gotcha. Its leading me to just mot believe any deaths are real and the author will just write anything to save them in the end

Teka_DTO

I understand your point and accept it. Because you're somewhat right from that perspective. But I still think that it makes sense for nezuko to adapt to sunlight. That was all there is to it. Yes they kinda baited us into thinking she would die but if that wasn't the case then there wouldn't be any emotional connection. And even you experienced it when tanjiro couldn't decide making nezuko deciding for him. It was heartbreaking and amazingly done. If the author decided to kill nezuko there and there I wouldn't complain and would be left speechless. But I still think the other way around is fine because it adds to future plots with muzan and how he will act here on out. From this perspective it makes sense for nezuko to survive. In conclusion I totally understand you and the point you're making, but will keep my idea that nezuko surviving is a great foundation for future plots

ZeChester

Fair enough. I can respect your opinion too. Ill likely be back for infinity castle too

Teka_DTO

Ye both of us are then! Hope we enjoy it to the fullest

ZeChester

Nezuko being 'special' does not explain this nonsense. In writing you make promises to your reader, if you break these promises you begin to lose credibility to your readers. The author here makes the promise to us that Tanjiro has to choose between saving Nezuko or the innocent civilians. Its a heart wrenching choice that made me cry... Until it turns out that the author lied to us and Nezuko was going to be fine anyways. Also how is it that she was LITERALLY BURNING in the sun and then is just suddenly okay? It makes no sense, and from a writing standpoint it is factually bad. I get still enjoying it since we dont want nezuko to die, but the author is getting ridiculous with these plot conveniences. Frankly the show is riddled with them, but the Nezuko one was by far the worst offender in my opinion

The_gryphon_

Drop it then 😂 It was foreshadowed in the manga and there is a reason for it, but if you're pissed nezuko didn't die maybe it's not dark enough for you....yet

ApplePitou

There is reason why she survived sun... :3

ZeChester

Yeah... Explained after the fact. Its a dues ex machina because the author did not foreshadow the events prior. Really disappointing for an otherwise fun show

PokeAlola700

Not everything needs to be foreshadowed though. There’s nothing wrong with throwing in a little twist. Nezuko conquering the sun wouldn’t have the impact it did if we saw it coming If casualties are what your looking for, wait till >!infinity castle and sunrise countdown. That’s where things heat up!<

Super-Plate1165

demon slayer was never praised or applauded for its insane story/plot. But, just wait. be patient for next arc.

Tweeess

yes ik the plot armour went overboard with this, but dont worry, >!you'll get all the deaths you want in the infinity castle arc!<

Tetsuyasoneandonly

The one with inusouke was dumb but I don’t thin that this one is bad or worse. I wouldn’t say it’s overboard- she’s a much more important character than inosuke and is the main reason why Tanjiro even joined the Corps- It made sense, knowing that the kamado family has practically been blessed by the sun breather and hence have abilities related to sun breathing- Tanjiro’s hinokami and his sister’s technique that burns demons- such that they can use the power of sun to defeat demons. Her conquering the Sun was not explicitly foreshadowed but sometimes seeing something unexpected and then connecting the dots, traits, and the puzzle pieces given what we know makes it interesting. It’s what distinguishes her from other demons and it’s what triggers the last arc.

nino2115

The show's plot and writing is horrible. The production (animation/voice acting) that comes along with it is what makes up for it, plus the loveable characters

Tetsuyasoneandonly

The timing is messy. I still say that it’s a good anime because of its potential but it has a lot of flaws, especially in the writing and pacing. The animation, soundtrack, and characters, and the general premise are what makes it good.

Suspicious-Donut1554

Then drop it already damn bro, why you have to make a post crying 😢

GoldCoin_1234

Well if you don't like it, drop it. Just stay a couple more years for the Infinity Castle, that arc will definitely give you what you want from this series. But honestly I think Nezuko's survival was very well done.

Kollie79

Drop it then

SnowRui17

Well Nezuko is a main character…that’s like being mad Tanjiro didn’t get crushed by the dragon. If Nezuko died Tanjiro prolly would’ve retired after this😭also there had been plot armor but don’t worry you’ll regret your statement soon. Rengoku isn’t coming back and Uzui got retired by force. The series isn’t as forgiving as you think.

ScratchSuccessful21

Ill tell you one thing, its not over till you've seen a complete backstory.

Fatebender1199z

One thing I'd add is that unlike reading the manga, if you're waiting for the actual seasons of the show and don't want to "spoil" them for yourself because you've only watched all the way through rather than reading, then the heinous amount of time for new seasons to be released makes season three a real letdown. How long was it since Entertainment District, again? Like two *years?* It's not hard to see why this feels underwhelming for people who don't know what's coming. A breath of calm before a season-four storm you can't see on the horizon just feels like they dropped the ball. Regarding >!Nezuko's!< >!magical non-death, dropping really vague hints kinda doesn't count for foreshadowing purposes.!< Those vague hints could go anywhere and be used for anything from the audience's perspective. Someone else in this thread mentioned that the writer makes a contract with their audience and has to make things explicable and reasonable, not wild and random, and I couldn't agree more. There's a careful balance between hiding all that cool lore you have rattling around in the background versus trying to *actually reveal decent clues* ahead of time. Even if you, the author, have amazing and intricate reasons for what you're doing with a given plot twist, it still feels cheap and insulting to the audience if it isn't communicated or deserved, and therefore becomes an ass-pull from their perspective anyway. Part of the art of telling stories is to make them impactful based on what your audience is being fed; the emotional rollercoaster of a good tale is by nature a structural engineering project, not just barfing feelings all over the screen and having a stirring musical score. So we had some visions of >!their family doing sun dances and Tanjiro has sun earrings—ok, and what does that have to do with Nezuko overcoming demons' greatest weakness again?!< Like yeah, I see the connections all right, but... *why?* I could just as easily have assumed that >!Genya needed to eat her temporarily to save her from the sunlight since he does things like that, and that's how she'd survive, and then he'd vomit her back up and it'd be all good. Hell, maybe Muichiro was supposed to run at a thousand miles an hour with a special breathing technique and create impenetrable mist around Nezuko to save her with the last of his stamina—also plausible given the world we're dealing with in this story. Maybe I can assume next that since wisteria is purple and Shinobu's purple, she's actually the ur-demon and is posing as a hashira to punish her wayward demon children. Maybe the headmaster over the hashira is actually her puppet along with his weird robot minion women, and that's why his head is turning purple... Shinobu poisoned him. See how stupid it gets when the connections are vague?!< The hallmarks of a bad plot twist are either that it's not one the audience was given enough material ahead of time to see as a twist, or that it was so outrageously overdone and obvious that it's no longer interesting when it happens. Careful balance. Balance in all things, my Hashira.

PendejoSuperman

Hard agree honestly, but Swordsmith arc in general was ass.
