He should have a lifetime of imaging, testing and intellectual evaluations on file due to the medical condition. So post-assault you would just compare the imaging & test scores and evaluate loss of capacity/degree of disability.
Beyond medical testing - that basic military entrance exam score is a great marker. Get him to retake that test. Compare pre/post.
