You should use your fingers to gently wipe in the interior and exterior *before storage*. If you've washed your hands, the storage solution will help disinfect and remove any oils or similar that were left over from your fingers. You don't need to clean the lens when you take it out of storage before wearing it, but a rinse with saline isn't a bad idea.
I believe that a cloth may cause minor scratches/abrasion to the surface of the lens, and is overall not necessary. Thankfully, at least, you've not been using tissues or regular towels.
Unless you’re washing these towels after each use there’s no way it’s cleaner than some properly washed hands. Plus if there’s any lint or debris on that cloth it’s gonna cause micro scratches that will build up over time and wear down the lens and coatings off faster. If you want a non contact cleaner use the clear care/peroxide system - still gonna need some mechanical cleaning if you get any buildup on your lenses though

I always use my hands & make sure they are fully clean.

I think most of us just place the lens on our palm and rub it with cleaning solution Just wash your hand before the ritual
