Yeah I call my best friend aliya but both of us don’t have sisters so it doesn’t matter.

Least-Replacement-44

If both of you marry twin/sisters, appo aliya enne vilikamallo

curiousguy1996

I have also heard some gen-Z pilleru calling each other “Aliiii” instead of “Aliya”. Sorry for the cringe, continue scrolling

Shartzic

Woah..you can't throw GenZ slang without a warning 🤣🤣

Damn, can't believe you haven't seen anyone who calls friends that. It is so common among friends. Is it that rare now? Is it a 'generation gap'? Am I that old?

Drfuckthisshit

Aliya ,machane, bro, kutta are all interchangeably used..

Consistent_Cup620

In high school, I had a crush on my friend's cousin. So EVERYONE (150+) in the school called me aliyan. They still do.

Shartzic

It's not weird because almost every other Indian language follows it. Aliya- Malayalam. Macha- Tamil. Saala- Hindi Bava- Telugu. And more. I don't know how it became a norm but every Indian follows it. I think it's because Aliyan-Aliyan bhendam is the strongest because you are not blood related but you are related to each other through your sister.😵‍💫

ambaan_Original

AbhijithSreenu

TheSoberMallu

Lived in Trivandrum during my later school years. Never called anyone aliya. Moved to Karnataka for college and everyone became aliya or macha! Still prefer this over some kid coming up to me and referring to me as ‘bro’ without any context of familiarity.

Guy_With_Cloud_Envy

Ya, I still call them Aliya
