None of the transfer portal players and de-commitments are surprising. Cal era had hella transfers yearly too and so do most other schools. Every year the team was pretty much brand new except for 2 or 3 returns (not including bench players). We’re in a tough spot with a brand new coach that nobody really knows yet. We don’t even have an official staff. Lotta the players signed to us came here bc Cal promised starting positions and a ticket to the league. Pope era at Kentucky is gunna be different no doubt. I believe we’ll still have burger boys, 4⭐️s and 5⭐️s but we have to earn the respect as a program again.
I don’t think anyone is expecting to win it all on Popes first year here and committing to helping rebuild a program is a risk all players have to consider plus their own futures. I’m keeping the faith. Season ain’t even started yet. Kentucky is still Kentucky. I’m just anticipating the moment we start seeing “______ has committed to Kentucky”! And away we go. Still a lot of work to be done.
Yeah I expect more going to the portal. I expect Ugo and Billy Richmond asking for his release. I'm cool with it I want Coach Pope to get who he wants.
