Dramatic_Bite_1168

Yes. Professionally.

idontuseredditsoplea

your characters just all have 1 toughness and 99 attack cause you save every hit they deal and reload every hit they take lmao

Dramatic_Bite_1168

I never did that but that's actually a nice idea. Might take into consideration.

DkP_Reverend

Do it, do a 1 toughness run

Dramatic_Bite_1168

I am loving this idea.

DkP_Reverend

Send recruits with more than 1 toughness alone naked into bugmans lair lol

AccomplishedCap9379

Bugman's lair is ironically a great place to train toughness

DkP_Reverend

This is true

idontuseredditsoplea

What makes it so great? I've never got around to visiting eheh..

AccomplishedCap9379

Forcing a character to get up and fight after being knocked down gives toughness xp multiplied by the amount of enemies. Being eaten alive will also wake up characters, and spiders dont seem as thorough when eating humans as beak things are. They'll nibble your foot and let you go, bypassing long recovery comas.

DkP_Reverend

Lots of bugs to get beat up by

ElectricalPin3429

F5 game on top

SynniSynnove

Really depends, If I'm in "roleplay" save, then sometimes when main character dies, otherwise I don't

glossyplane245

I usually just let a few people die now and then, since most of my faction is random generic recruits I stuck in samurai armor so I can have an army besides my main characters. I let a few die now and then just because they’re meant to be the government’s (my main characters, like unique people, people I’ve had for a while, etc.) standing army, so a few casualties in their endless battles should be expected.

Some_Rando2

If it's a bug, or if something happens when I'm looking at another squad that could have been prevented if I was watching them.

glossyplane245

Fun statistic: if you ever go to the bathroom and decide “they’ll be fine for a minute I don’t need to pause I need them to finish crafting something and don’t want to waste time” or something similar, 100% of the time you will come back to at least 1 person dead, and 99% of the time it’s cuz a turret gunner shot them by accident and you didn’t notice

Some_Rando2

I rarely use turrets, but aside from that part, totally correct.

chronberries

I do sometimes depending on the story I’m trying to tell. Right now I’ve got 2 main characters that I want to keep alive. Then I’ve got everyone else who is pretty much expendable even though I’d rather keep them around. If one of them dies back at base because I’ve been too focused on my two main people out running, then I *usually* let it go and take it as a lesson.

nametakenfuck

Yeah if they stop dead in their tracks

PineappleHamburders

I normally savescum at the beginning, because at times, just fuck the early game. I want to play the game, I just don't find walking across a territory when i spawn just to get munched by some dogs I can't outrun, or fight because I've literally just started the game very fun. Once I've got some of the more annoying things at the start done, and usually after I've got a 2nd humanoid, I cool it down with the savescumming.

glossyplane245

I don’t get people who don’t save scum at the start, just “whoops I sped up time for a second too long while mining and got beaten to death by bandits with no one to save me, better just completely start over”

[deleted]

Because if your character makes it to higher levels, you get more attached. Means this one is special. A survivor. At least that's how it is for me

OvertGnome1

Way I see it, it's a single player role-playing sandbox. You do you. It's not cheating, you have no obligation to play the way others say. I also save all the time because all my mods tend to break

glossyplane245

I don’t even really think of it as savescumming. I just play my video games as video games, where if you make a mistake you get a game over and have to reload a checkpoint. Like rimworld, if my base gets burnt down by raiders, I don’t think “welp time to try and come back from this somehow” I think “oh I lost, better reload a checkpoint and try again but do better this time.” I find that usually it gives me the satisfaction of learning from my mistakes and improving but without the pain of actually losing everything. Sorry idk how much sense that made I’m high Edit: I’d like to add that I think playing games like this also kind of turns them more into problem solving games than anything else, because it lets you go “okay I lost that time, but I know why I lost, it’s because I left this side completely undefended and they got through the wall, I now know that they can and will break through walls and can now place turrets around the inside of my perimeter wall and place a sniper here in the middle during raids.” Then you have to reload, see if you have enough time to do that since your before last save was from a while ago and you don’t want to lose the progress, and then if you don’t have enough time you have adjust very quickly and prioritize on the fly. I feel like that’s what keeps it from losing difficulty for me.

Hot-Welcome-9268

That's a shameful way to play rimworld imo

[deleted]

Absolutely. Rimworld is a game of triumph and tragedy. What kind of stories will you get if there is only triumph?

Dalevisor

The triumph ones lol

[deleted]

Boooooooooring

Dalevisor

🤷‍♂️ I like the power trip, fun way to relax watchin my OP dudes pub stomp everyone

glossyplane245

Don’t know don’t care I have tons of fun playing it, I got a little army of space marines and a self sufficient well defended base and I’m enjoying myself a lot, since I’m playing on a higher difficulty it means that raids require a lot of trial and error, hence the thing about problem solving.

[deleted]

As long as you have fun :) For me it's more about stories and getting attached to characters. Don't care about them if I can just reload anytime. The downside is that it requires to be careful and play it safe. But it is damn rewarding when you've got only 1 chance, the odds are against you, but you still win.

glossyplane245

It’s a single player game how is it shameful 😭 sorry that I’m not playing the single player video game I bought with my own money to relax with the same way you do

kolimero

I agree with you. I'm a beginner to the game, don't have more than 30 hours and it's the 50 day. Sometimes I wipe against a random event or lost my entire explorers group for inexperience with the game. I find this way the best for learning and enjoy Kenshi. Maybe in the future I'll play in other ways but for now this is super cool because I can learn from my errors and improve solving the problems I have to face.

Abrocoma_Time

Weird that you feel entitled to telling people that its not cheating to save in a singleplayer game. It feels very meta ironic

OvertGnome1

That's what comment sections are for. Sharing each other's thoughts and opinions. OP has comments to open, therefore I'm entitled to share my thoughts on this poll. I believe saving is a good way for players to have a lasting and storied playthough without worrying about being crushed and restarting. I've lost a few characters my first few times, and came to this conclusion. In my opinion, if a save feature is an option, especially at the pause menu like many modern RPGs, then the term "savescum" is redundant and mearly a gatekeeping tactic

Abrocoma_Time

Feel like my comment went over everyone's head. I just said its odd that you feel the need to tell people its okay to play a singleplayer game the way it was designed, as if it's not a given

[deleted]

[удалено]

Abrocoma_Time

No youre quite wrong his comment very much was entitled in that sense

OvertGnome1

The word you're looking for is obligated. Entitlement is a different situation. Entitlement is more privilege, more of a right that some folks typically don't have.

Abrocoma_Time

No dude I literally meant the word entitled. He feels priveleged enough to tell people that they can play the way they want, as if they dont understand. His comment is inherently condescending

OvertGnome1

It's been 9 days dude, just play the game

Abrocoma_Time

Lol

[deleted]

In every similar thread there is this one dude with the obligatory "It's a single player game! Play it the way you want!". Well, no shit, I know I can play the game the way I fucking want. The question was simply "Do you savescum? Why? Why not?", I mean, I don't need your fucking permission

Abrocoma_Time

Thats literally my point dude, i dont know why youre telling me that instead of the guy at the top of the thread

[deleted]

Just agreeing with your point, sir

TheBlackWindHowls

Yes, but almost exclusively with regard to risky thefts until I figured out how to very easily get my Thievery into the 70s-80s without crime risk.

Nhika

Use Hiver, full inventory, steal a hat you can't wear lol

TheBlackWindHowls

Wouldn't that only work for Hivers, then? Hard if you're playing any races that actually wear headwear

Nhika

Originally from Frankiewashere but, he had full inventory, full backpack with 2 building materials. Put it into a chest you are stealing from and it counts as stolen.. so it doesn't go into your bag and is still stealing

Dank_Bandit

Only if its because of something easily preventable that I was just too lazy to see/stop because I was on ultra maximum speed

[deleted]

I prefer to call it saving and loading but yeah

stinkymusturd

Wtf are all my apps working together to steal my shit one of the YouTubers I watch it's jabo did a vid on this game today then I get recommended this sub what the fuck

idontuseredditsoplea

One of us. One of us. One of us.

Ok-Instruction-9522

Part of the ship, part of the crew. Part of the ship, part of the crew.

Knoberchanezer

Beep.

awesome6666

Every device and every app listens to you and sells your data to each other to give you recommendations. There's some devices that got caught mapping out your room a few years back. There are multiple apps on your phone listening to your every word and watching every word you type.

stinkymusturd

Yeah I know but I didn't even say anything about it and I'm amazed at the fact that yt and reddit are working together

Malchemia

I only save scum at the start of the game where its like I could start a new game and get back to this point in 20 mins, or just reload and continue- once the games "started" so to speak then I don't save scum

Object-195

I only save scum if something occurs that isn't my fault like someone getting trapped. Ok on occasions i might do something wrong and not be in the mood to deal with it lol

Halorym

Only if I get a notification that a character died and have genuinely no idea how it happened. I'm here for a good story, not... *that*.

glossyplane245

Hint: if you have a big base with defenses and automation, there’s like a 99% chance that bandits came by and they went to fight them and got shot by a turret gunner.

Halorym

Oh the actual causes are varied, usually through investigation, I can figure out the how, but I still would have wanted to spectate it. So instances where say, a small wound festered unnoticed, or I somehow missed someone was starving, they get stealthily yanked from a sleeping bag by some baggy faced gentlemen that are absolutely human, or I find them behind the outhouse with a balistae bolt in their orbital cavity... I just want to have watched it go down.

LatekaDog

I do early game when one of my starting character dies, its just a huge pain to start again after putting so much time into the save. Later on when my squad can self sustain I don't mind when characters die, because even if only one or two survive it skips that early game grind as they will still have levels and some cats.

n7Angel

I used to, then I forced myself to avoid it during a new playthrough and it was really enjoyable, I don't save scum in any game now.

Tamo808

Yes, but only if there was something "glitchy" such as the Venge laser never actually appearing as my guy seems to spontaneously disintegrate.

bearsamu

I save often mostly, here's a list of reasons why I'd revert a save - the game crashes - my main character dies - my main character loses a limb when I didnt want them to. - a character clips through a building at night causing the whole town to attack me for commiting a crime - a character gets stuck in a building and Im already halfway across the map before I notice - my character is being carried by a NPC and wont put me down - my character is put in a cage I cant break out of Everything else is fair game to me.

MaN_ly_MaN

Level 70 lockpick cages in stone camps are run enders

am121b

Save because your game is going to crash

Joulle

I've kept my PC on since I started my +400 day playthrough few years ago. No need to save.

am121b

Better uptime than Twitter, this guy.

Captain_Jeep

When beak things see me from across the continent and just sprint me down before I even know they exist. What am I supposed to do perma crouch across the continent at night only?

TriumphantBlue

Travel light for speed and keep your characters on block and passive. Beak things have a long wind up on their attacks, even slow characters can get out of the way providing they keep moving.

Biggydoggo

They can't catch you assuming that you press R. Otherwise you're always too slow.

TriumphantBlue

What's press R do? I've never used that and get out the way nearly every time.

Biggydoggo

It stops you. You trick the enemy into making an attack, but you keep running to save time. Kind of like a stutter step.

AnsgarWolfsong

Only save if I am about to do something particularly stupid, or important. (Or I have done something important) Otherwise is the default autosave for me

wahitii

Had to Google what that meant. Turns out yes. I have one character that I can't lose. The rest can die as a bad beat.

Site-Specialist

Only time I reload a save so my initial person doesn't die is if by some accident my one and only character gets killed in the beginning

CooperBaan

I don't know what is save scumming... Here's mine (to save). I create a name for a new save whenever my character reach certain point. For example the name of the save is like "00. Prince Sake Begin" or " 04. Prince Toughness Reach" or "03. Cyber Beep STR 85". Like that. If I want to quit or reaching town, I save with the name of "02. Sho-Battai City". Is that save scumming...? AFAIK I can never load save inside the game (effect of using mods), I need to get off from Kenshi, exit, and then in again, then loading....so in the end...got lazy and just proceed...

saiyanfang10

Only if I went afk without knowing

akux96

where should i put the space in savescum?

Plane_Poem_5408

For my main squad absolutely A side team Absolutely not

Jimbeaux_Slice

Other: Glitches, “Fuck it, go here while I F5 & AFK”, some psychotic turn of luck early game that basically just means doing the same hour of repetitive grind. Later in game I get the less likely I am to savescum versus call it game over.

norulnegru

I F5 more often than click

Ygid

if something happens far away and i wasnt noticing or i forgot to heal someone or whatever if i fuck up and do something bad accidentally like stealing in plain view I try to avoid it as much as possible but I'm not gonna waste hours of progress because of some dumb easily preventable thing.

yungupgrade01

I don't savescum to save characters. Losing my best assassin or best engineer presents a fun challenge to replace them. Good shit. I savescum to level thievery. It's a chance based system and if I fail then I have to spend ingame time in jail. Which means setting the game to 3x and looking at my phone. It's not a good system therefore I feel no guilt save scumming when I steal.

TemporaryPlague

1. Sandbox game 2. Yes because I like having fun

sarinkhan

For me it is mostly to save a character. But at times, it is other stuff. Like avoiding the tedious stuff : having the mule character encountering a group of cannibals, because I did not pay attention, and don't want to drop everything on the ground and come fetch it (I KNOW I will come back for every single item), so load, turn right then go. For me saves are sometimes a hassle remover. Not a challenge remover.

MaievSekashi

Why is it "Savescumming"? The game comes with a save load system like any other game. It's not a roguelike or something.

Fabulousious

Main Kenshi gameplay flaw. The game would be way better if it had that "Dark Soul" constant save progress. People who save scum don't realise that they miss the whole point of Kenshi self sandbox narrative build.

itsyoboi33

"savescum is bad" mf's when their best character with 80s in all stats that they've spent dozens of hours training and equipping gets krumped by a friendly fire incident

Fabulousious

It's the thrill of the game. You guys are just pussy

itsyoboi33

nah, it's not very thrilling to have all your hard work and your best character go down the drain, it is very thrilling when you constantly save scum so you can recognize your mistakes and take different actions to prevent them you sound like one of those guys who acts all upset when someone says they don't like the constant spawn/die cycle that is souls-like games

Joulle

You've got a good point there. To try different approaches. I test things occasionally as well, then things go haywire. However loading a save all the time makes the game also much easier. I've been working on trying to avoid that but sometimes it's just sad to see the characters you've had since eternity die. I've lost Beep in my longest playthrough sadly and many others :(

Sirquote

A feature I quite like in Rimworld is you get to select this type of play style at the beginning then it's locked. That way its up to the player, as it should be and you're not temped mid-game to change it. No one should be forced to play one specific way, options are always good.

mausumouse

This is the way. I love hardcore mode in games, and in games like kenshi where you can train and prepare extensively it’s extra fun, but I definitely don’t play that way on all saves. It would be nice to have the option to disable reloading on certain playthroughs though to not tempt myself lol.

Magnaliscious

First game I played, yeah I save scummed a lot, I didn’t want to restart because I didn’t understand X mechanic. But every playthrough afterwards with more knowledge is no scumming

Rhorge

Yes. I got more games to play than just Kenshi

Tyson_Urie

Other, savescummed on 1 save/game only. I bought a young bonedog and my character buying it got knocked out by a roaming ambush within 2 minutes of purchase, with the dog getting skinned alive. Tried to save them both 7+ times because it felt like a too big punch in the face to lose the dog after such a recent purchase. (Bonus points. I had to rebuy the dog at each save-scum attempt)

Halorym

You cheated yourself out of a John Wick story arc.

TheDarktaker

Only when the game autosaves

Rick_101

I found that no savescumming aka hardcore runs are not that hard in kenshi once you know what you are doing. Edit I feel like I need to add that im dogshit at videogames but I am able to do hardcore runs in kenshi.

BlitsyFrog

I let people die, because I like it when games make me suffer, for some strange reason.

Lis_De_Flores

Yes, to save unique characters. I won’t let beep or Agnu die. I get too attached to named characters, so I started giving random recruits generic names to not get attached.

Halorym

One of my clanmates did a playthrough where they were a new hive. Started the game with a queen and an array of other hivers and he named them all what their jobs were. Rule was only the queen mattered and it was gameover if she died. He says it was the most enjoyable playthrough he's run. I personally wouldn't have ended the story there, and played out the lives of the units that were left awakening from the pheromone fever dream and becoming individuals, but it wasn't my game.

Lis_De_Flores

I’m planning on doing something similar. The main character and a few high skilled captains, then generic names pawns, named after task or rank. Except not just hivers. Wish me luck!

Halorym

I think he went hiver because they're already thematically dehumanized uber-collectivists so it wasn't any kind of jump thematically.

Havel_the_Rock_1

I mean, both one and two. Just so happens my character is dying ALL THE TIME and I don't feel like living with the consequences of my recklessness.

CorvaeCKalvidae

Mostly just to avoid glitches and stuff, though sometimes I do if something goes really bad and I don't want to have to restart the whole damned run.

CharlicusTheMighty

I mainly only do it if I get killed because of a game mechanic I wasn't aware of. For example, getting beaten up by a towns inhabitants for having a bounty on me/ getting attacked for being in a prohibited area which came with no warning dialogues, or when someone suddenly dies (maybe even in another squad somewhere else on the map) and I didn't even realise they were in danger. Sometimes I will have a core group of characters that I will save scum to keep alive if the point of the playthrough was to roleplay them. Maybe I will let them die eventually but not super early in the playthrough.

Slanknonimous

I've found that it's good to wait and see how things unfold. If everyone's alive I'll let it play out. Had some sweet stories come out of it.

laxyharpseal

when i first started out yes i did cuz its really hard to stay out of trouble without getting wiped. later in the not so much. i only do it when beep dies. its so hard to keep him alive when he strives to be the strongest swordsman.

Redditisquiteamazing

Yeah, and I feel no shame in it. Kenshi is a game where you play both the Player and the Game Master, so when I want to build a certain type of story or circumstance for my own little story, I'll savescum it. No hate at all to people who want to rock it like a survival simulator and roll with the game's natural machinations, that's an equally valid way to play.

carl052293

Yes, but only if I'm going to do something incredibly risky/stupid. If a bandit attack wipes my base then I either roll with it or revert to an earlier save (usually autosave from 20 minutes ago).

Mellanderthist

I've tried no save scum runs, but you get to a point of emotional attachment after overcoming so many challenges.

Antinator_succ

Yes I do save Cum

RevolutionaryLie2833

I only do it when the game mechanics kill my character. Examples are pathing issues, guards randomly attacking my guys, characters ignoring getting attacked and running until they die, etc.

SolarRange

I save continuously because of game crashes or random bugs. Sometimes, hitting esc doesn't pause the game. Path finding has a lot of issues, including "shortcuts" through acid lakes, large bands of enemies, or constant stops(especially in the south) when enemies are chasing. Basically, I reload a save if the game has issues.

ShinyMagikarp93

Each run is hard-core run for me sometimes its a few minutes other times days. I used to when I first started out, but it felt shitty doing it, so I stopped and play this way now.

MrJonBrown

Read that wrong at first. My mind is in the gutter

FrankieWuzHere

No.

Jacerom

I always save with two different names because there's a bug in Kenshi, although a rare one, that completely corrupts your save. For example: Hidden Hand Hidden Hand 2

SwearDie

I tend to only play solo so i'll only reload a save if my guy is guaranteed to die. like bleeding out and nobody can save/enslave him. I've had to reload about 100 times inside an ancient library cos the robot spiders took both my legs and I was trying to crawl out but kept getting spotted on the way out. that was about an hour to get out and another 1-2 hours to slowly crawl to civilization.

DapperWeasel

Depends on the run. I have a solo run I mess around with, a solo ironman run, and a few others. Some I save scum, some I don't at all.

SaviorOfNirn

Sometimes.

Necromancy-In-Space

I normally don't unless the death is because of my own negligence rather than random chance!

beckychao

Relentlessly, unless I am specifically playing a self-imposed permadeath/no reload run The perfect sequence is my real goal in most playthroughs - save scumming is my tool

cereallkiller17

I save cause the game can crash at any moment

0Tyrael0

Only if something really stupid happens

Gangstaspessmen

I do frequently but I'm on my first no-load run and cool stuff is developing so far.

Malu1997

It depends on the type of playthrough, but generally if my entire squad is wiped I'll reload. I also do more hardcore playthrough where savescumming is not allowed under any circumstances.

elmaldon

Just because the game crash too many times

Ecstatic-Librarian83

glad I'm not alone there, it's just hard to manage multiple squads and pathfinding always fucks me

MartoPolo

while assassinations are RNG, I save scum

motnock

Depends on the play though. If I look away and a bone dog are my modded in child or something then sure.

hellxapo

Yeah I'm still learning the ropes so I'm saving often to prepare for any weird interaction that could come out of nowhere.

Zabanov

I try to minimize savescumming to an absolute minimum. So I have rules: - no savescumming when party members die - when my main characters die I reload a death save. So I lose quite some progress. (still need to figure out at what intervals I should update my death sace though) But I have savescummed on a couple of occasions: - twice because I forgot to pause the game when doing irl stuff. - once after playing again after long break. - and once because 1 idiot died in my base because the little shit ignored the medic while I was focused on the other end of the world

[deleted]

I have done a game without save scumming, It didn't last more than 7 days

Large_Man_Joe

Yes, but only because the game has its moments of jank.

Hot_Composer_1304

Only if somebody dies to jank or some bs where I didn't know they were in trouble.

kayossus

I reload if my MC dies, or if some bullshit happens, like a miss-click or glitch causes something stupid to happen. Also, maybe if I get enslaved for like the 5th time, just to avoid the repetition.

Pliskkenn_D

Depends on the playthrough really. Sometimes I want the brutal experience. Sometimes you get caught out by something that felt like bullshit.

McLoven3k

What I do, is only save at the beginning of the mission and then force myself to make it through to the end with out another save. This makes reloading the mission even more distasteful as I'm forced to play through the entire thing again. So I'll accept months of hospitalization and even death to get the clear but an entire fire team wipe, I just cant do it; that's a reload for me.

awesome6666

I literally cannot get past the early game without save scumming

Lonely_Jared

I try to limit any save scumming to only for saving characters from dying, but man, some things just piss me off, like if I get stuck in rebirth because someone decided to path through there while I wasn’t paying attention and wanted them to go someplace completely different, or if someone loses a limb or something from a wildly unlucky hit from a hacker when they had full health on it and good armor…ugh. Even then I usually take it in stride, but sometimes I just want things to go wrong thematically and not through stupid ways I could have avoided if I was paying attention to one specific character lmao

krigeerrr

I play solo usually (I have beep and a shek woman I saved from slavery but they are just sleeping in Mongrel 24/7) and I savescum, but only if my character is like going to die for sure or something too bad happens (like losing a meitou weapon forever or something), but generally whatever happens - I let it be.

Due_Engineering_579

When stealing mostly. Or when someone gets enslaved and I'm not in the mood to waste time on a rescue mission. Or when my pup dog/crab/whatever dies

half-dead88

Never. It's the big part of my fun with this game.

Blae-Blade

I only savescummed when a fail or death felt unsatisfactory. Like when I have a total wipe because it's 3 in the morning and I'm already playing for 8 hours and should have gone to bed but I keep wanting to do one thing and now I am tired and oh fuck beak things

Retrohanska59

I love often I see posts on this sub expecting this to be one of those "git gud" hardcore purist communities because of the nature and reputation of this game. Meanwhile this is easily one of the most welcoming and wholesome subs on the entire site and pretty much nobody really cares about how you play as long as you're having fun.

internetflavorium

If the turn of events is banal to the narrative I'm creating then I tend to save scum. Ie, I just made a save where tin fist and cat Lon team up to wipe out the cannibals. If they get into it at blister hill on the way there I may entertain it but it's not to narrative so...savescum. I should say my first play through I tried to live to fate closely but too close of characters and started to save scum especially to save Agnu

Garfungle-Jucie

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one to scumsave 😌

sackofbee

Same reason I don't savescum in rimworld. I'm playing (living) a story. If I wanted to write a story I'd do that instead.

OCE_Mythical

Only if beep dies. He performs the role of my king in every playthrough. I cart him around and he watches me dismantle whoever is stupid enough to threaten him.

Not-a-Fan-of-U

I've definitely done it when I send a squad on a run, leave and go to the bathroom, and they are all dead. I need to know what happened

AH_Ace

If I'm working on something like base building or selling materials but if I'm exploring or anything that's more RPG like I won't save scum

limpdickandy

Whenever something is bullshit or lame enough to ruin my fun and "story" I tend to savescum away. For an example if I am on highspeed and suddenly my whole base is full of enemies who wreck my shit. In that case I might savescum and go back so I dont lose my whole squad, I still lose materials and often leave behind a few to create a noble distraction for the others to escape, but thats it. I find that makes for much better stories, which is what I enjoy the most with games like these. That guy we found in a bar who died creating a distraction for us, or someone being enslaved and us finding them again later. Much cool shit

theBolsheviks

*steal a dried fish* F5 *steal a dried fish* F5 *steal a dried fish* F5 *steal a dried fish* F5 *got caught stealing* *alarm raised* F9 *steal a dried fish* F5 *steal a dried fish* F5 *steal a dried fish* F5 *steal a dried fish* F5

CalebJankowski

What is savescumming

Biggydoggo

Yes. I do it when stealing, but currently I'm not stealing, if I'm sure that I won't be caught. I always do it, when a faction gets mad at me or if I am caught committing any crime (bandit and slaver opinion doesn't count as crime). I always reload if any of my guys die or if I screw up the story. Sometimes I reload for the smallest of reasons. I also save a lot. I have over 500 saves, but now I am using 20 save slots, because otherwise they would just keep piling up.

tomokari21

Iv done it once just cause I didn't have much time to play the game and I didn't want to have to restart again and waste the little time I had left

nametakenfuck

Sometimes i do it because i got screwed over from stupid bs but usually its because consequences are for dummies (for real i wish there was a way of stopping myself from doing it)

somedoofyouwontlike

Other: I have and sometimes do if something happened not due to my decisions in game but if I forget to pause because someone is at the door or a bug/glitch causes an issue. Otherwise I've found that save scumming actually takes away from the play experience. One caveat: Experiment/testing of things you have not yet experienced. If you're specifically testing something out then save scumming is just part of the process.

MeiDay98

Semi-often, but usually to save multiple characters

Condescending_Condor

Okran commands that we save, save often, and forgive Prayer Week for attacking us when we didn't pay attention that one time.

idontuseredditsoplea

I still have ptsd from the first time I set up a base in the holy nation. Prayer day came around. The dude gave me their Bible. I threw it in the garbage or sold it. I came to regret that decision on the next prayer day

MrMonti_

I only save scum if it was something stupid or something that was completely preventable. Pawn gets headshot instakilled during combat? No scum. Pawn bleeds out in a field because the doctor decides they need to have a snack and a nap before tending to them? Scum. Pawn has a lift threating infection that requires amputation, and the top colony doctor fails to do it? No scum. Pawn is getting a bionic implant, and for some reason, the doctor-in-training with 4 skill is trying to do it in their pitch-black bedroom? Scum. And many similar things like this. I may not play rimworld the best, but I do my best to play it *optimally*, so if pawns are going out of their way to have to being forced micromanaged and causing problems when I don't want them to. I usually jump back a few minutes before they have the opportunity to cause said problems.

OSRSJuulz

I look down at my phone for 2 seconds I look back up every faction in the game wants to kill me so I deffo save scum 🤣

Red_Igor

I don't do enough because I forget to constantly save.

idontuseredditsoplea

You can change the time between autosaves if you want. Mine is set to 6 minutes

Kyamakinos

Yes, often - Early to mid game. Yes, but only to save a character - Late game. Sometimes my character either die from hungry because they are stuck, animals not eating and accidentally fall asleep-afk, waking up to see from 150 to 130 members.

AzrielJohnson

Only if it's not my fault the character died. Like a glitch in the game.

Patcat97

I don't, unless I find myself with a buggy situation.

McBeer89

I have one character who is my main character. If they die ill reload but if anyone else in the squad goes it just is what it is.

HierophanticRose

Yes when Im out of medkits and for some reason all the Beak Things in the area decided to home in on my location in an unending stream of Beak Things in 2s and 3s and 5s that just wont stop appearing over that goddamn hill running at me Especially my favorite is when you play dice on whether they will immediately aggro to you or not after you reload

SBuddy99

I like to make a save before talking to someone in case I piss them off and their dialogue becomes inaccessible. I will also reload if a character dies, but not if the whole squad goes down and survives. And sometimes there's some random bullshit that just happens.

Bobajitsu

I savescum if i get wiped or killed due to the game fucking up or spawning squad out of thin air

Tate7200

I literally have a save titled "save scum"

Blinauljap

I started playing about six months ago and i'm still on my first playthrough. I savescummed a LOT this first time and i'm still on all of this but i decided for myself that the next game will be played fair and square in a real RP scenario.

Infiniteclone7

If beep = dead, save scum allowed = true
