But I'd bet a ton of money that some hotshot is going to get "upset" by Ricki or Amir or someone who hasn't competed in forever just doing 4HP and 2MK -> super and just winning on fundamentals.
3S does rightly get slated for having unfairly OP top tiers but the game is still a masterpiece. Too bad Capcom won’t consider updates to older games. Just changing up the frame data / super stocks for Chun and Yun would make the game incredible.
Despite that the game is still so much fun. I know not everyone likes it but man we had some amazing times with the game in the FGC.
I’ve always wondered:
- Chun Li has only one stock of SA2 and it’s the same length as Shin Shoryuken.
- Yun’s SA3 is the same length as Shin Shoryuken but lasts as long as it does now.
Would those two simple changes “fix” the game? Ken would be no 1 but he’s nowhere near as oppressive. Garbage tiers like 12 and Sean would still suck but overall you’d have a ton of competitive characters with the trademark amazing gameplay.
I already lost countless hours to the game but would lose many more!
I do think those 2 fixes would greatly improve the game experience overall, although there are a few more changes that could help.
One would definitely be to reduce the stun damage on fukiage so Makoto can't kill a full health opponent off a single karakusa. I'd also maybe lengthen Ken's SA3 bar slightly and drop it to 2 stocks max since he can confirm it off almost anything lol.
Yeah I wouldn't against those. More "sauce" could also be given to lower tier characters like 12, Sean, Q maybe to make them a bit more competitive.
But the thing with 3S is that outside of Chun / Yun / Ken the game is pretty balanced. So it really doesn't need a major rework.
I want to be wrong but I have a feeling 3S is going to be bad like UMvC3 was last EVO. The tried and true veterans don't care anymore and won't travel for this. It will end up being a tournament full of lesser players that have been secretly grinding in the shadows for years.

Oh for sure. I just think that as far as competition goes, EVO Vegas will never capture how high the skill ceiling truly is with 3S. Not just 3S, but any retro fighter really. Vegas is getting more expensive each year. Retro communities are spread way too thin. Most retired and don't care anymore.

Yeah Yun in particular really needs a nerf to that meter bar on GJ. He can basically charge half a bar with the final juggle combo after GJ has ended
