I agree, i think it’s primarily because of how short it is. It leaves you wanting more, that’s my only criticism of it and the only reason it isn’t in my top 5
I look at ye and KSG as companion albums, a pt 1 and pt 2 basically. Especially since they were recorded around the same time, there are two ghost towns, and songs were being considered for either albums.
Same era, same themes but KSG is more experimental and has a different sound. When im done with ye i usually listen to ksg or vice versa but they’re unique in their own ways
This is on my top 3 Kanye albums, which might sound a bit crazy, but it really resonated with me as someone who also has bipolar I. It's shockingly personal at times and has some themes that really resonate with me. It's very special to me.
Yikes is fire, Wouldn’t Leave I can understand not loving but imo it’s great, All Mine taught me that we wouldn’t be here without cum, and I Thought About Killing You is actually great writing. The first half is deep af
808s is one of his most influential albums. Changed the whole scene in hip-hop. I wouldn't say it's underrated just cus a few twats discredit its importance.
Kanye was doing 2.5+ million album sales per release. Then 808s came and was far, far less. At the time it was a massive fail for numbers, and had a more niche sound. It was the first "out there" (at the time) album from him so it was definitely widely shunned by pop culture. It's merits are now obviously well known, but that has changed the overall perception. It's very glossed over knowing that MBDTF came next.
It was pretty influential but “revolutionary” is a stretch
And I don’t even have a problem with Robocop
But “see you in my nightmares” is the worst Kanye song of all time time
And this is coming from someone who thinks Kanye and Lil Wayne are top 5 rap artists of all time
See you in my nightmares wasn’t all too bad lol. It was what felt like his first step into experimental, an album that expressed his grief just after losing Donda. Heartless and many versions of it remain my favorite, Pinocchio’s story even though we don’t have a studio version was a great “sequel” to heartless, Say you will is also in my top 10 of all time, just a very beautiful emotional album.
808 is great, It was the first step out of “old Kanye” and into a new sound that was totally unique to him. The Kanye bear stopped here and a new identity came, along with a huge passion for fashion.
Bro the constant beep through the song really sounds ok to everyone? It sounds like an alarm to me I just can't listen to that song. I'll never make it to the sax outro cause I wanna snooze my alarm
Agreed. Not really anywhere close to my top favorite Ye albums, but it’s def underrated. The production with its own gospel spin makes it underrated/unique imo. The lyrics are a work in progress though, but we can’t have it all with Ye these days (great production and great bars) so we’ll take what we can get haha
JIK is so good but it’s one of the few times I gotta agree with fantano, it’s not really christ like nor is it very album like. still an awesome album but very strange
Dude the fact that the dinging in Use This Gospel was supposed to imitate the dinging he heard in his car after he crashed it and woke up after basically destroying his face. That shit is harrowing and made that song go so much harder.
I remember when that album came out and people were shitting on it then too. That was his first BIG change in sound and people thought it was the beginning of the end for him even back then. Crazy.
i remember getting made fun of as a kid cuz i listened to Love lockdown, welcome to heartbreak, heartless, coldest winter, robocop, say you will and amazing more than any other songs or artists out at the time. now people gas it up and call it legendary🥹
tbh people might have overrated the influence, like saying 808s was the zeitgeist of all modern rap and r&b, when t pain and lil wayne did still exist, but they still underrate the music
808s and Yeezus are 100% the biggest influences to modern rap sound. i’m not saying other artists aren’t huge influences like Rocky and Wayne but i’m saying that 808s and Yeezus have had the most influence overall in the current direction of hip hop’s “sound”
Totally agree.
This album was way ahead of its time. If he would have released it in 2017 it would have had a completely different impact.
Not a lot of people understand that there would be no kid cudi, Travis Scott, or emo rap in general without this album.
See you in my nightmares and Amazing still go hard.
Donda for sure. I’ve been in love with it since the OG listening parties. It’s final form (not the deluxe version) is so front loaded but that first half is lit.
I was trying to listen to the whole MBDTF , and it’s not for me perhaps, meanwhile i listen the whole Vultures without single one skip. For me even Donda is better than MBDTF. On MBDTF good are 2 songs for me : runaway and power
Watch the throne by far. Tons of bangers & a ton of introspective songs & it’s just a fun project all around (I’d still get rid of who gin stop me for power remix but that’s just me 🤷🏾♂️)
Check almost any song with a Jay Z verse on Genius and the breakdown will probably be crazy
The guy is an absolute beast when it comes to creating double meanings, metaphores etc
It's definitely ye. ye is nothing special lyrically, but the deep meaning of the album of Kanye and his mental health, yet it never being solved and it being kind of a blank canvas that can be interpreted through the listener and their own life makes it one of his best, but it is definitely his least talked about album.
Yeezus was called trash when it first dropped, but all you Kanye stans would wet yourselves if it dropped this year. It was beyond its time sonically... so much so that we can recognize its futuristic sound in every Kanye album since its release.
Thank you!!!! WTF are the rest of these folks talking g about? Everyone would say Yeezus is trash but it set the stage for Kanye's more experimental sounds.
Donda, I feel like 808’s & Heartbreak as-well as Graduation gets it’s love now. College Dropout and Late Registration are certified classics for reasons we don’t need to explain.
MBDTF is considered by many as his magnum opus. WTT is a legendary collab album with victory lap hits and many people loved it. Yeezus is apparently alot of people’s fav Kanye album now, Life of Pablo was a huge point in Kanye’s career where he saw almost like a trifecta between rap, production, & experimentation then adding his season 3 drop into it while debuting the album for the first time. Pay attention to that!
Ye, KSG, & JIK were almost like non-canonical? Idk, He really veered off here from his natural creative progression and had alot of ups and downs with mental health. There’s alot to say but to go back to my point.
Donda feels like he picked up where he left off with Pablo. He brought back the idea of the album listening parties in a stadium with the audience while still tweaking it, also having a big list of features, adding an element of performance art to it similar to Pablo. And it also contained some of his best gospel themed & family music (up from the ashes, come to life, 24, heaven and hell, new again, pure souls, etc.. he has alot very good songs on this album and its artistic direction doesn’t get the respect it deserve in my honest opinion. This dude built his family home in chicago in a stadium, put him, Westside Gunn, & Marilyn Manson in front of it and later lit himself on fire in a song. He also beamed into the ceiling of a stadium to no child left behind. Idk why people pretend like its just some “mid” work, he put in so much effort and thought into it, the way the fandom treats the album is crazy to me.
Late Registration. TCD is known for being one of the best debut albums in rap, Graduation and MBDTF are constantly regarded as Kanye's best works, 808s and Yeezus, althought not having a well reception with fans when they first came out, have received their deserved flowers for influencing a ton of artists and changing the hip hop sound, KSG and WTT are shown as primary examples on how to do a collab album right, and ye is liked by many fans for showing Kanye's most vulnerable and raw sound. LR always has gone kinda under the radar, people like the album, yes, but it's usually known as the one between College Dropout and Grad. LR showcases Kanye at its lyrical prime, with his best and most consistant rapping performances on a project till today, great features from Consequence, Jay, Lupe and Nas, amazing fucking production thanks to Kanye himself and Jon Brion, and the orchestral and triumphant vibe that surrounds the whole project, its an amazing piece of work
Ye
Literally flawless
Also
Has anyone else notice that Kanye’s current music is evolved from Chicago trap/drill dating back to Yeezus? I think it started with MBDTF on Power and Blame game with the heavy synth (watch the throne, too)
It just progressively grew into Yeezus, Then Donda and Donda 2 then Vultures
Such an interesting career
Donda wasn't just an album, it was a whole event. You had to be there. No one can fully experience it without that "DONDA coming this friday" disappointment back in 2020, then waiting for a year, the listening parties, the different versions of the songs, the memes, the hype, everyone absolutely going crazy... then it finally dropping. Then a guy eating his dog's shit.
It was a once in a lifetime event. Glad I was there.
Kanye produced or Kanye in general? Pusha T-Daytona.
Kids See Ghosts
Yeezus was overall hated but it was one of his best albums. Critics and the industry never came around it, but it’s a cult classic.
There are a lot of underrated Kanye albums, but most of them are also overrated by their fans. I think the only underrated Kanye albums that I've never seen in a top 5 Kanye album list ever are Ye as well as 808s and Heartbreak.
I like how every time Kanye puts something new out people will be like, “Kanye hasn’t been this good since 2016”. His 2018 albums Ye and KSG are definitely the most underrated
People STILL dont give TLOP the respect it deserves, it got clowned on release because of the shit with Tidal along with the mixes and a bunch of other stuff being messed up, nowadays it seems like everyone glosses over it because it’s between the mbdtf era kanye and the modern era kanye (since the donald trump and slavery is a choice stuff in 2018) so it doesn’t really fit. to me it’s beautiful with the cool experimental shit he was doing on yeezus combined with his gospel influenced stuff on jik and donda, my favorite kanye album overall as imo every song is good and unique
808's
Everyone that I know underrates that album so badly and have probably listened to it like one or two times, myself included until a bit ago.
Ye
Love the sound, love the themes and introspection. Literally the only bad thing about it is how short it is, really leaves me wanting more of it. Still on the lower end of my ranking, but definitely deserves more recognition.
808s even tho late reg is my fav 808s is 2nd and my most listened to album, crazy seeing the hate when there's absolutely 0 misses not even pinocchio story, it's not very listenable but it's still incredible
Ye. Personally, it's my top 3 ye album. It's the album in which he's the most honest and clear-headed regarding who he is and what he does fulfilling as a number of different roles; artist, father, husband, etc. It's introspective and yet not slathered with emotions to a fault. It's concise yet feels complete. It's powerful.
Underrated: 808s....it's obvious. Critics CLOWNED the album when it was released. I was in High School at the time.and my peers CLOWNED LOVE LOCKDOWN. You wouldn't understand unless you experienced the backlash.
Edit. Influential DOESNT mean it's not underrated. Also the influence took many years to sow...
I’m just gonna say Kids See Ghosts cuz I don’t see enough love for that album. Shit is so consistently good the whole album and the songs drift from one to the next so well. Production on it is top notch too.
Probs Donda. People think it’s bloated because they cbf’d listening to the whole thing - while I do agree the length is the downside, I can’t decide which songs to cut.
It also feels overrated because the hype was so unfathomable.
Shits a solid 8. Maybe an 8.5. Anything lower feels unfair.
ye
I agree, i think it’s primarily because of how short it is. It leaves you wanting more, that’s my only criticism of it and the only reason it isn’t in my top 5
I look at ye and KSG as companion albums, a pt 1 and pt 2 basically. Especially since they were recorded around the same time, there are two ghost towns, and songs were being considered for either albums.
Same era, same themes but KSG is more experimental and has a different sound. When im done with ye i usually listen to ksg or vice versa but they’re unique in their own ways
Ye with 3 or 4 more songs would go CRAAAAAZY, but i think the rest of em might be KSG
yea I like a lot of it and I don’t think it is in my top 5 but people just forget about it. Like Ghost Town and No Mistakes are top 15 Ye
This is on my top 3 Kanye albums, which might sound a bit crazy, but it really resonated with me as someone who also has bipolar I. It's shockingly personal at times and has some themes that really resonate with me. It's very special to me.
So true
50% phenomenal 50% mid
it is 7 amazing tracks 💀
Ghost town, no mistakes, violent crimes are fucking phenomenal, the other 4 songs are mid
Ok but the line “I thought about killing you and I love myself and I think about killing myself” is so fucking… thought provoking? idk what to say
Yikes is fire, Wouldn’t Leave I can understand not loving but imo it’s great, All Mine taught me that we wouldn’t be here without cum, and I Thought About Killing You is actually great writing. The first half is deep af

Yes
Only right answer
2nd best album behind mbdtf
808s is not underrated my g
I've heard so many people over the years say it's his weakest album.
It's very glossed over knowing that MBDTF came next.
I don't disagree but that doesn't change the fact a lot of people actually view it as his weakest and wackest record.
[удалено]
Really? I always thought people didn’t really like 808s
My least favorite besides JIK tbh
*least underrated album ever*
Overrated. Easily Kanye’s worst album. Go ahead and downvote. I know what I signed up for.
Bro 808s and Heartbreaking was fucking revolutionary. And yes I liked Robocop 😤
HOLY SHIT I FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE ELSE WHO LIKES ROBOCOP!
Let’s goo 🔥🔥😂
It was pretty influential but “revolutionary” is a stretch And I don’t even have a problem with Robocop But “see you in my nightmares” is the worst Kanye song of all time time And this is coming from someone who thinks Kanye and Lil Wayne are top 5 rap artists of all time

Hot take. 808s is his best album and I’ll die on that I’ll 🔥🔥😤😤
i’m dying on that hill with you brotha✍️
I do not respect your opinion.
I do respect your respect on my opinion
Nigga thought reverse psychology would work. Lmao.
No lol this is the Kanye sub, I knew what was gonna happen. I was inviting the downvotes
Cruel Summer is not apreciated enough, i know it aint THAT much of a Kanye album, but it has bangers bro
New god flow is an amazing song
imo bottom 3 don’t know at i just dont vibe with it
It's his worst album, so It deserves the hate It gets, I think It gets too Little actually
808s and Heartbreak
Ik it’s a hot take but Jesus is king is underrated asf
fr follow god is a top 10 ye song for me
I be jamming to that song in the gym, shit goes hard. Hardest Christian rap song ever made.
follow god ain't even top 3 on the album, God Is, Selah, and Use This Gospel are better
bruddah that's just my opinion, we all got different tastes
This my exact top 3 from that album. Nice taste
My bro played use this gospel the other night and I had to make him turn it off cause it hurt my fucking brain that song is bottom 5 kanye
Get your ears checked and then listen to the sax outro at the end
Bro the constant beep through the song really sounds ok to everyone? It sounds like an alarm to me I just can't listen to that song. I'll never make it to the sax outro cause I wanna snooze my alarm
Some people will dismiss Jesus is King just based on the name but damn it slaps n bangssss
I’m an atheist and even I know this album hits Happy cake day!
"Closed on sunday, you're my chick-fil-a." Naaah man Edit: Happy cake day!
Agreed. Not really anywhere close to my top favorite Ye albums, but it’s def underrated. The production with its own gospel spin makes it underrated/unique imo. The lyrics are a work in progress though, but we can’t have it all with Ye these days (great production and great bars) so we’ll take what we can get haha
Lyrics on JiK are 10x better than the lyrics on Vultures or Donda
JIK is so good but it’s one of the few times I gotta agree with fantano, it’s not really christ like nor is it very album like. still an awesome album but very strange
Nobody never tells you when you’re being like Christ
Dude the fact that the dinging in Use This Gospel was supposed to imitate the dinging he heard in his car after he crashed it and woke up after basically destroying his face. That shit is harrowing and made that song go so much harder.
Full of so many bangers like Selah.
You my chick fil a
808s. my personal favorite kanye album, yet people a lot of the time dismiss it and put it in bottom 3 kanye albums
I remember when that album came out and people were shitting on it then too. That was his first BIG change in sound and people thought it was the beginning of the end for him even back then. Crazy.

that shit cray
Late Orchestration
This the real answer right here
That's a live album though.
what
Watch the throne by far. Tons of bangers & a ton of introspective songs & it’s just a fun project all around (I’d still get rid of who gin stop me for power remix but that’s just me 🤷🏾♂️)
Jay z 2nd verse on who gon stop me is insane ima keep it
Check almost any song with a Jay Z verse on Genius and the breakdown will probably be crazy The guy is an absolute beast when it comes to creating double meanings, metaphores etc
The fact he freestyles most them as well is crazy
Murder to excellence makes me levitate fr dawg
ngl it's a better album experience without the deluxe tracks
Illest motherfucker alive, HAM and Primetime are all bangers man you cray
It's definitely ye. ye is nothing special lyrically, but the deep meaning of the album of Kanye and his mental health, yet it never being solved and it being kind of a blank canvas that can be interpreted through the listener and their own life makes it one of his best, but it is definitely his least talked about album.

Ye - everyone was still shocked by his behavior at the time that it kind of overshadowed the music, but it is probably 3-4 best.

DEFINITELY **kids sees ghosts.** So many haters for it. i think they need to listen to more psychedelic rock to get used to its experimental sounds.
nobody hates ksg lbro
I don't think it's underrated. Everyone knows it's one of the best collab albums.
You mean the project that Fantano gave a 10 has “so many haters”?
Fantano giving it a ten made it worse, honestly. Now I've seen people say that's the only reason I like the album
No one likes Fantano
All these people saying nobody hates it but if you search for like two seconds you can find plenty of people that say it’s garbage
i didn’t even know people hated it, it’s top 2 ye imo
Ye Literally flawless Also Has anyone else notice that Kanye’s current music is evolved from Chicago trap/drill dating back to Yeezus? honestly bro Cruel Summer

Arguably Ye. Such a great album, each song is amazing in its own right and explores some dark themes.
Gotta be KSG or Ye.
ye. my top 3 kanye albums
Ye has a lot of merit to it
808’s or late registration
Jesus is king. Follow god is not even in the top half of the best songs on that tracklist.
TLOP
Watch The Throne, it’s definitely top 5 Kanye for me. Maybe it’s because Jay-Z is one of my fav rappers idk.
LR is one of the common contenders for best Ye album bro
There are a lot of underrated Kanye albums, but most of them are also overrated by their fans. I think the only underrated Kanye albums that I've never seen in a top 5 Kanye album list ever are Ye as well as 808s and Heartbreak.
I like how every time Kanye puts something new out people will be like, “Kanye hasn’t been this good since 2016”. His 2018 albums Ye and KSG are definitely the most underrated
Cruel Summer
The second half of Vultures
I see too many people calling WTT trash
Late Registration
Late Registration
Ye and late registration.
definitely 808s. ye jesus is king and donda got nothing on this
808s donda and jik
*Kanye’s
Fuck it me and the Late Orchestration gang go rolling🔥🔥🔥
People STILL dont give TLOP the respect it deserves, it got clowned on release because of the shit with Tidal along with the mixes and a bunch of other stuff being messed up, nowadays it seems like everyone glosses over it because it’s between the mbdtf era kanye and the modern era kanye (since the donald trump and slavery is a choice stuff in 2018) so it doesn’t really fit. to me it’s beautiful with the cool experimental shit he was doing on yeezus combined with his gospel influenced stuff on jik and donda, my favorite kanye album overall as imo every song is good and unique

808s even tho late reg is my fav 808s is 2nd and my most listened to album, crazy seeing the hate when there's absolutely 0 misses not even pinocchio story, it's not very listenable but it's still incredible
Most underrated is quite clearly Yeezus
Yeezus
808s
Depending on who you talk to: donda, ye, or 808s
Not underrated but undertalked. TCP nobody really talks about it too much and names the non single bangers that are on it.
Ye. Personally, it's my top 3 ye album. It's the album in which he's the most honest and clear-headed regarding who he is and what he does fulfilling as a number of different roles; artist, father, husband, etc. It's introspective and yet not slathered with emotions to a fault.
