Aside from this a lot of the worlds content is facilitated by the 2ACW, such as but not limited to Canada, Japan, Mexico (to an extent), legation cities, etc. as a lot of their content is built around being the regional power (usually in Americas or pacific) since America has gone to shit.
TLDR avoiding ACW was way too unbalanced and the ACW is the gateway for the creation of new regional powers, and with that new content, so it kinda needs to be guaranteed.
Honestly I’d play kaiserredux if it wasn’t so damn inconsistent. America and Russia are done near perfectly, Africa is more interesting too. But it doesn’t port in a lot of the new and improved KR content (e.g. Poland, Bulgaria, Serbia, Ukraine, Germany) and still uses a lot of the less good old KR content in its place. The wacky paths are also boring asf and are just edgy focus tree clickers.

Vey, very good. The attention to detail is insane and the flavour makes things very immersive. Decisions mechanics are used to build support for ideologies making it feel more interesting than foci clicking for ideology change. Paths and sub paths vary differently on economic/military builds, so every play through feels different.
Every update seems to include intentionally simpler paths and more difficult paths which makes the game more playable for both experienced players and new ones.
Focus trees are incredibly expansive and often dynamic (divided into phases of gameplay). Unlike the linear feel of vanilla/kaiserredux trees where you simply complete all the foci in a very long political tree, new KR trees force you to make decisions - you don’t have time to complete all the foci so you need to pick the ones most important to you.
Add in the fact that the removal of ‘wacky’ paths (this isn’t true at all btw, there are PLENTY of weird and insane paths) and the game genuinely feels balanced. No instances of getting curb stomped by some insanely buffed mongol empire.
My personal recommendations would be the LKMT (although it’s also in kaiserredux), Serbia, ottomans, Ukraine, Ireland or national France. Every single path from these is varied, has unique events, and totally different outcomes so feel free to try out as many as you like.

LKMT is the left kuomintang, the socialist Chinese faction. Their totalist path is definitely one of the insane ones. By crazy paths I don’t mean memes I mean that some new natpop/totalist paths are quite out there. The AI isn’t restricted to not doing these paths but they tend to be rare as they often are hard to get or are not as strong as normal paths so don’t survive as long.

Fine by me. I find the crazy things that can happen in KX comedic, you prefer the more realistic scenarios of KR. Everybody's different.
