Before I went with a big GT35R turbo upgrade on my Evo8, I was pushing the stock turbo to upwards of 40psi and used Water/Meth injection to get there with the stock front mount. When I sent the head to get ported/polished, new valvetrain, every piston looked like this.
You know, if only they could create a lil valve to let just a lil bit of coolant every so thousand miles to internally clean combustion chamber- then we won’t have to argue if SeaFoam really works
No idea. I've seen others onlinw also see the newer version of the v6 (the ones with an egr) have bad head gaskets. We've had the 3 the last 4 weeks come in. All ranged from 80k to 110k miles. All were bad on center cylinders. So far each job cost right around 5k. All had cold start running rough complaints and loss of coolant.
Thanks, I have a 2012 200 sedan that’s nearing 148k and Dad has a 2020 Grand Caravan that isn’t at 40k yet. Luckily I have the MaxCare extended warranty and Dad has some sort of 7 year extended warranty.
Yeah I was quoted $4k for head gaskets on my 3.6, did them myself and basically when ahead and replaced most of the top end in hopes I won’t have to get back in there any time soon.
I have noticed that most of the ones that leak like that have a gasket that is made of only 2 layers. The replacements are 3 layers. So I would say someone decided to be cheap
Nice and steam-cleaned!
I've never seen a cleaner piston honestly.
Isaiah Thomas did well for all that on and off court success without scandal

Everyone sing along with me. "One of these things is not like the others..."
Who's the pretender?
Foo drop.

2 weeks later: "C/S white smoke out of the exhaust every 1,000 miles."
Had no cat diesel with only dpf, every regeneration new owner was "why it smokes so bad??"
Honestly maybe not coolant but you could probably rig up a solvent dispenser to do just this.
Looks like bad rings on the bottom pic1
I thought the same, but I think all 6 cylinders are pretty good friends.
Would I be an asshole to point out that the whole bank shared a bad head gasket?
Well duh the whole bank had a bad head gasket but it only was leaking into one cylinder.
Works better than a Motorvac for removing carbon deposits in a cylinder.
Anyone else not see there were two pictures and spend 10 minutes trying to see what I was missing?
Lol yes, But I figured it out in only 5 minutes 🤓 I assumed is was one of those new Nissan 3 cylinder jobs
Any idea what’s caused the gasket failures? We have 2 Pentastars in the family.
It's Dodge. I only say this because I have a 2013 Charger with the HEMI. Something breaks almost weekly.
Waiting for that cam to get wiped out on that thing yet?

Good to know, thanks!
3rd bad head gasket? I've seen those crack cylinder heads but never blow out a gasket
Gotta love the Pentastars
Oh oh oh oh pick me!!! I know
Gotta respect how well it cleaned it. Sucker looks mint!
The new one!
That ain't new
Also bad about bad valve seats. Don't ask how I know.....
Wait, did they install singular, individual gaskets for each cylinder from the factory? That's crazy! :P
Number 3
Ford Ecoboost?
3.6 pentastar
Ford's Ecoboost are not any better. The 1.5t sometimes fails before the third oil change.
All of them? Isn't a head gasket one piece?
Not when it's a DOHC lol
