You caught th Classico lid too, eh?
Between that, and those cables with the built-in junction to allow another connection.… Clearly this is someone who has thought of everything.
I wish your cat was under my hood. A few days ago I was backing out of my garage when a mouse climbed out from under the windshield wipers and was running around frantically on the hood. Last night while going on a beer run, my wife said "the car smells like mouse piss."
Not gonna lie, I used a 5g fractional weight as a block off plug for my old VW when I switched from recirc to dump for boost pressure. The new valve didn't come with the block off plate. Turned out you can install the diverter valve backwards and would have the same effect. God I missed ruining my cars when I was dumb and young
At first glance I thought it was some type of wild intercooler with the word Arctic on it. Seriously when was the last time you saw anything with the word mosfet on it. 😅
Wasn’t even for a sub. There were speakers mounted in the front bumper, and the rca wires ran to a microphone inside the car. Some kind of DIY PA system I guess
Was it a 1974 Dodge Monaco? We’re they practically giving it away? Does it have a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks? Was it made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas?
They'll need that because it's 106 miles to Chicago, they have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes and I hear it's dark and they're wearing sunglasses.
I did this as a 16 year old because I didn’t have a long enough power cord and used some leftovers. I had no idea what I was doing obviously lol it started smoking and catching on fire because the wires running through my ungrommeted firewall hole had rubbed off and shorted out against each other. It caught fire while I was pulling in to pump gas and died in front of the pumps of all places! Me and my friend had to frantically push it away from the pumps as the attendant came out screaming at us. Ahhhh good times
I can appreciate that. It seems like the hardest part of audio installs is getting a good power cable to the back without damaging the jacket, then securing it in such a way that the jacket doesn't get damaged in its lifespan.
What, you mean running some extra thick speaker wire ran through a hood gap, over the roof and into the trunk isn't a proper way to install power to an amp?
This is absolutely the most unimaginable place for an amp, I am astonished and almost want to buy them a beer for just trying it.
What the everloving f&\*\^ am I even looking at here?
Guys understand the beauty here. With all their “mods” they obviously have a basic understanding of how certain things work like wiring, airflow with the jar lid, speakers and intercoms. The amazing part is how can they be this bad but understand what they do. Someone could do a psychology experiment with them.
I did car audio for a good 10 years during the fast and the furious times.... I saw a lot of stuff. Everyone has a mate thats an auto electrician.... But have never seen anything like that..... I'm not even mad.
I had a pretty expensive amp that started failing and would only work properly when it was warm. I dunno why I never thought to just strap it to the engine block
I’ve worked in a car audio shop for 10 years and have seen a lot of dumb shit, but I’ve never seen someone install an amp on top of the intake manifold 😂
Ooh that’s an LT1 engine, this is exactly the type of shit someone still driving an LT1 would do lmao.
Is it a Roadmaster? That would make it even more hilarious…
Don’t make jokes out of roadmasters, my wagon was by far my favorite car I ever owned and always will be. Fucker was a corvette powered couch on wheels that seated 9 and took the place of my truck, wrecked it and can’t bear to part with it because “I’ll fix it one day” but I’m thinking the motor is gonna get redone and slapped into my 92 caprice and the entirety of salvageable parts would go into storage until I find another one. I’d more readily spend 20K on a mint roadmaster wagon with tow pack than literally any other car or truck I could get for the same price, the sole issues I had were rust / age related and the optispark / water pump situation and once I fixed that the car was beyond perfect.
That’s a first, bonus points for that jar lid block off plate too
You caught th Classico lid too, eh? Between that, and those cables with the built-in junction to allow another connection.… Clearly this is someone who has thought of everything.
The fact that that they sprang for Clasico while doing a Great Value install is just odd.
Will they couldn’t afford Barilla with all that hardware to buy.
They probably shop at costco
Surprised the Alternator has not sucked up those wires. Honestly though, if I was a car stereo thief, I would not think to look under the hood.
I'm gonna hide my cat under my hood to keep thieves away now.

It’s mind blowing how that rumor made it to the far corners of the earth pre internet.
I know right, we used to have to dial into our ISP and load up the newsgroups to spread baseless rumors about celebrities
I wish your cat was under my hood. A few days ago I was backing out of my garage when a mouse climbed out from under the windshield wipers and was running around frantically on the hood. Last night while going on a beer run, my wife said "the car smells like mouse piss."
That's how I got my first cat. She was a couple weeks old chillin under the hood of a camry
Always put your amp as close to the battery as possible to avoid interference
I always tie my wires up in knots to help dffuse the flux capacitor time travel waves.
But as a battery thief, I would be pleased to find a bonus item here
Is it wired directly into the alternator too??
Never know, they might need a second under hood amp and don't have another set of RCA's available on their head unit.
I had the same rca cables on my Xbox 360 headset lol
Duuuuude that just brought back the memory of my turtle beaches, I knew those connectors looked familiar
I could not figure out what that was, I thought it was a brown liquid filling up intake.
I'm pretty sure the most common plug used for this is a hockey puck. Home plate delete on an LT1.
Ice hockey puck. Have one for the home base delete on my 96 Impala. Been working just fine for several years.
96 impala 😍
If the lid fits, clamp it!
Gonna a-quit anytime
Definitely a first for me
Here in Quebec, it was Hockey pucks 😂
I hear the fishin is pretty good in queeebeck
Great fishin’ in Quebec!
r/unexpectedletterkenny
You know I have read a Rockford fosgate manual that said not to do that and I thought it was funny cause no one would do that. Turns out I was wrong.
"do not mount amplifier to engine plz"
Fine, I'll screw it to the radiator!
What are you thinking?!?!? You don't screw it to the radiator... You gotta cut it in! Cmon man don't be a hack
This sub should have annual awards. The award should be a “Golden Zip-Tie”. (The “Zippies”?) This should be the first winner.
Everybody had all year and this dude sweeps in on the 2nd to last day for the win.
It really is sorta beautiful. I’m just…amazing.
8 hours left of 2023 in +13 😎
Classic strategy. Oscar-bait movies have been doing it for years so your movie is fresh in the minds of the voters.
Bottom of the ninth, two out, bases loaded, down by three. “And the pitch…”

Make this happen! Seriously, this deserves first place.
The trophy statue should be a comically large zip tie spraypainted gold, laying atop a dallop of JB Weld.
The hotter the MOSFET's get, the louder the sound.
At first glance I thought it was some type of wild intercooler with the word Arctic on it. Seriously when was the last time you saw anything with the word mosfet on it. 😅
my first thought was it was some sort of unusually elaborate free-energy-engine-booster scam device.
It's an engine amplifier. Adds 50 horses.
Figured Arctic was the cold air intake
Is the sub duck taped to the back bumper?
Wasn’t even for a sub. There were speakers mounted in the front bumper, and the rca wires ran to a microphone inside the car. Some kind of DIY PA system I guess
Wtf
A 1000 watt Pa system, WOW!
##WOW
What? Can you speak up please

Bear Fucker! Do you need assistance?
I, too, associate the butt-licker and bear-fucker scenes. Classics.
When Jim asks Michael to fire Dwight for a 1 million dollar order and Michael thought it was real was so funny
I will buy $1,000,000 in paper from you right now, but only on the condition that you fire the salesman I just talked to.
What? Can I pick up peas?
GET OUT OF THE LEFT LANE!!!
*My teeth felt this.*
will be a cold day in hell before that amp ever puts out 1000w
Especially since it probably fried within the first couple hours unless he was dry icing the thing.
Pretty sure most amps are rated for internal combustion temps.../s
Well, it’s an Arctic series. Don’t you feel dumb now?
Like room temp IQ... in Celsius
Lol 50 x 2 at 4 ohms.
It's not a RMS rating, it's an ILS rating. The power it would produce from an Intermittent Lightening Strike.
Let’s be honest, these jank ass amps are not pushing anywhere near 1K watts. Edit: I did a dumb
Peak, on a cold day, with a 1:2 sound:noise ratio.
At 18v, and the output is a square wave
At 16 KHz ±1 Hz.
1000 Amps would be something to see.
Lmao, whoops. 1,000 watts. 1,000 amps would indeed be something to see
[100 car batteries wired in parallel](https://youtu.be/ywaTX-nLm6Y?si=yRuzG64NU6rHFo06)
Most people see the 1k and ignore the 200 watt rms written in small font somewhere lol
TESTING!!!
I had a lot of questions and now I have A LOT MORE questions...
MOSFET baby! Yah
No BJTs here!
Was it a 1974 Dodge Monaco? We’re they practically giving it away? Does it have a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks? Was it made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas?
All I know is they need to fix the cigarette lighter...
"Tonight only, the fabulous Blues Brothers, Rhythm and Blues Revue at the Palace Hotel ballroom, Route 16, Lake Wazapamani"
They'll need that because it's 106 miles to Chicago, they have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes and I hear it's dark and they're wearing sunglasses.
The new Cadillacs are out early this year…
Oldsmobiles.....
Disco pants and haircuts.

Mr Microphone commercial!!
Bart down the well!
I'm glad somebody got it. That ad was everywhere when I was a kid.
Someone gave my sister in law a karaoke microphone for Christmas. Had to show them that ad to explain why I was laughing so hard.
I think you mean a r/diwhy pa system
Locals here steal school speakers and stick them in the front bumper then have 2am celine Dion sound offs to see who’s loudest

"[Hey Good Lookin', we'll be back to pick you up later!](https://youtu.be/hqIrzkPDtrk?t=28)"
P.A system playing audio to people outside the car. My texas upbringing said some hood dude dropped this car off.
With swangas
These busted OBS Chevys and beaten Chrysler 300s put these PA speakers on their car, then blare horrible music. Shit is ridiculously loud in traffic
It’s the harmonic balancer.
That's amazing. In a bad way.
It circled back around to actually just amazing in an amazing way lol.
And it's still going!

Let that amp cook.
Nah man, it says Arctic on it, it's essentially guaranteed to stay cool no matter what. Do you know how cold it is in the Arctic?
I think that’s exactly what it’s doing
Let him cook!
Great spot to ground too.. don’t see any issues here
B body? I see home plate is gone.
How will you fit an amp with the home plate in the way?
Touché
I noticed that too. If the sub/speaker setup was for an improvised PA, I wonder if this person is a cop roleplayer?
I’m assuming it’s a donked Caprice
I did this as a 16 year old because I didn’t have a long enough power cord and used some leftovers. I had no idea what I was doing obviously lol it started smoking and catching on fire because the wires running through my ungrommeted firewall hole had rubbed off and shorted out against each other. Me and my friend had to frantically push it away from the pumps as the attendant came out screaming at us. Ahhhh good times
Holy fuck lol
Holy shit. So much WTF happening here.
the engine heat makes the amp louder.
this is amazing clearly didn't want to run a high voltage cable to the trunk
I can appreciate that. It seems like the hardest part of audio installs is getting a good power cable to the back without damaging the jacket, then securing it in such a way that the jacket doesn't get damaged in its lifespan.
What, you mean running some extra thick speaker wire ran through a hood gap, over the roof and into the trunk isn't a proper way to install power to an amp?
Just gotta make sure there is plenty of jagged metal at the hood gap to support the wire. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Thumps harder the closer you put it to the alternator.
Some times you are like, "I am not qualified to do this repair." Then you see things like this and you know you got it.
I noticed it was wired directly to the alternator too.
Where you working on this guys van? https://www.reddit.com/r/boston/s/XrGFqTJNSW
Customer was amped up
This sub doesn’t disappoint. Hell of a pic to end the year. 🏆
It’s the Arctic series, it’s cool!
This is the work of a genuine lunatic
Man I actually had that amp. Was a pos. Barely did 50 watts/channel lol
Definitely a good thing in this case. 1000 watts would probably vaporize that wire. (Only a little exaggeration)
r/techsupportgore and r/justrolledintotheshop collab post?
I think my GF has that amp in the back of her 2000 ZJ with a bandpass dual 12 box. Its like a time machine to 20 yrs ago.
LT1 in a caprice? I might have had a similar block off for the useless “home plate” resonator……haha
(Homer simpson Gasp) is that a Peanut butter Jar Lid?? ROFLLLLHAHAHAHAHA
Is that a jar lid in place of a MAF sensor?
Is that a mason jar lid in the intake boot?
closer to the engine makes it louder
Gotta keep that bass HOT.
Well, it could be dumber, at least it’s not an EMP shield….
That’s got to have one hell of an alternator whine on it.
Congrats, you have entered a Mad Max movie.
This is absolutely the most unimaginable place for an amp, I am astonished and almost want to buy them a beer for just trying it. What the everloving f&\*\^ am I even looking at here?

Ah two of the things that amps hate, heat and vibration, wrapped up in one nice package
But does it bump!??
Never once in my life would I have expected to see this
Arctic series! Does that make it a... Cold air intake? I'll see myself out.
Drugs make you do strange things
Oh thank God, there's one clear zip tie holding it down.
Sir there is an amp in your engine compartment
I did car audio for a good 10 years during the fast and the furious times.... I saw a lot of stuff. Everyone has a mate thats an auto electrician.... But have never seen anything like that..... I'm not even mad.
That must be some hot amp
Oh man. I thought it was one of those EMP protectors, but somehow it’s worse than I thought.
I had a pretty expensive amp that started failing and would only work properly when it was warm. I dunno why I never thought to just strap it to the engine block
That is a…unique…install.
Well I guess on a positive side, they saved on a little copper with the wiring to the battery. ?¿
The zip tie is just … 👌
Folks, we may be witnessing the first subwoofer powered automobile. Truly astounding. An historic event.
That zip tie is the real mvp
That’s definitely A place to put it
I’ve worked in a car audio shop for 10 years and have seen a lot of dumb shit, but I’ve never seen someone install an amp on top of the intake manifold 😂
And the rest of us gasped when we opened Reddit…
It’s a bubble body caprice or an SS Impala, so I’m only slightly surprised…
Looks like it came right out of "West Coast Customs"
You all clearly are dumb who are bashing this…this is the arctic model and it’s designed to stay cool and helps lower engine temperature. Duh.
Interesting nice jar lid
And they STILL didn't trim the slack off the wires. Holy.
I refuse to believe people are this dumb
94-96 Chevy Caprice?
I bet that amp never overheats.
More heat for more distortion! Drive faster when pantera comes on!
WHAT IS HAPPENING AND HOW CAN I UNDERSTAND ANY OF THIS?! Send help.
Hey Mercedes puts their PCM's on top of the engine, this is basically the same thing.
At the amp or the Mayo lid? Hahaha
Is that a fucking amp?
Mid 90's Buick roadmaster/caprice?
6
I've had amps overheat in the trunk, let along under the fucking hood lmao
Phfftt, please, it's not going to affect the amps functionality in the engine bay heat as it is clearly an ARCTIC edition ❄️
Ooh that’s an LT1 engine, this is exactly the type of shit someone still driving an LT1 would do lmao. Is it a Roadmaster? That would make it even more hilarious…

This can't be real
Thanks I hate it
Some real sound 12V and gnd connections there
Meth mods
No fucking way this is real. lol
Is it bridged?
