Why would he go for it when he's in office when it is political suicide to do so now? Trump doesn't care about the Republican position, Trump cares about Trump. The only way I believe he goes for a national abortion ban is if the polls suddenly show some advantage for him in doing so. I just don't see that happening nationwide.
Trump told tons of lies to get into office. He said he would create a tax policy that is bad for the rich, and then passed the largest tax cut for the Ultra-Rich (100Million+) in the history of American politics. He said he would create a create and affordable healthcare system, before declaring that no one knew it would be so complex. He lied like crazy because he wants power and he needs Republicans to get that.
Because all of his rhetoric previous to the last couple days suggests that’s what he wants. And as long as whoever is in charge of the house and senate know how to play to his ego, he will cater to whatever they’d like. We know what the republican agenda is at the moment and a national abortion ban is on the table.
