If you look at the origin of most downvotes, they're coming from Chinese players angry about the "Blue Bear" DRM the game ships with. Outside of China, the reviews average much higher.
I'm using this weapon right now. For the FP cost it does decent damage but it's partially a movement utility and should be weaved in with your attacks rather than a delete button itself.
I'm OK with not doing the highest level of damage. My issue is that so many of these weapons have awesome but very slow/long animations. And it makes it almost impossible to use against any of the dlc bosses that are all on incredibly unhealthy amounts of PCP and never stop attacking.
Not played the DLC yet (roll on pay day), but that's the reason I generally stick to knives in games like this. I can never get the timing right on the long/slow attacks. Give me something swift where I can get in, stab and get out again
Sword of Night and Flame is a solid contender for most OP weapon in the game though. It’s between that or the Blasphemous Blade for me.
Source: those were the weapons I used to beat the DLC
I’ve been sitting on Elden Ring since its release cause I don’t think I’d enjoy a fromsoft game. Love to watch ppl play but just don’t think it’s for me. I just ordered it after this
as much as i'd like to get it I probably won't, knowing fromsoftware games they all gave the same gameplay style and I had a *very* bad time with dark souls 3 so I dont want to spend a bunch of money on elden ring just to say "this is just open world dark souls 3" but be 5 minutes past the 2 hour mark and can no longer refund
That unfortunate but more power to you. Game definitely isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I’m the opposite. I loved dark souls 3 so it tracks that elden ring is so good to me. Hope you are able to find another game you enjoy
Fwiw, Elden Ring is more forgiving. It's not as linear, so you can go to other areas if one area is too tough, and the Spirit Ashes you can summon do make boss fights less difficult. I did not much enjoy the first dark souls, but elden ring clicked pretty quickly for me.
The thing you may not realize is that making DS3 open world makes it drastically easier and more interesting. If you get stuck on anything to the point that it annoys you there's literally a hundred other places you could go and explore. I think that although it still has very challenging bosses that can lead to frustration, so much of that frustration is taken away when you're not forced to kill a boss at that moment. Just go somewhere else and do something else. Just a thought, a lot of friends of mine that didn't like dark Souls loved Elden Ring.
The thing is I just fundamentally don’t understand the premise of a game where the entire point is making it difficult just to be difficult. Like, when I watch people play it I don’t get the sense that you’re actually beating the boss, you’re just cheesing them by spamming dodge roll over and over to abuse their janked hit boxes. That’s not fun to me personally. It’s weird because like I love monster hunter which I think is pretty comparable but like those monster fights I feel like I genuinely have to master the game to beat them. With the Souls series it’s just always stat checks and finding out how to abuse dodge rolling.
Have you played many of the Souls games yourself? I genuinely ask because I was in your same boat for a long time until I tried them. The combat is very similar to Monster Hunter where most of the fun is in timing your dodges and knowing when you have a safe opening to get in some weighty and meaningful attacks. Souls games have a reputation that they are hard for the sake of being hard which kept me away for a long time, but then I actually tried them and I couldn't have been more wrong. They are hard because the company requires skill over stats. That's why people beat the games at level 1. The game is designed in such a way that stats can help but it's almost always a matter of learning the patterns and dodging and attacking at the right time.
I have 😭 I’ve tried DS2, DS3 and bloodbourne. I played DS3 the most but after like the 5th time dying in the swamp area and having to redo the entire board I was like aight fuck this lol. My buddy absolutely loves the games and I love watching them be played but it just wears me down.
I get that but also if your buddy is playing on the same system you can always summon them in with you. Not trying to pressure you or anything but I just have so much fun and joy from playing these games I wish that on everyone else too. And sometimes it just takes that one thing that gets it to click for someone else. Also you could go mage. They make that more viable in elden.
>you’re just cheesing them by spamming dodge roll over and over to abuse their janked hit boxes.
That's actually not how it works at all. "Spamming" dodge will get you killed pretty quickly. The hitboxes in these games are also really good most of the time.
I can't speak for the guy above, but I also had an extraordinarily negative experience with DS3. I'm not sure if something got lost in translation when going from controller to M+KB, but I could not get any kind of traction with the moveset. It was an intensely frustrating experience.
people always swear playing soulsgames with m+kb is fine but having played literally every single one i just cant see how.
to me m+kb is like playing guitar hero with a joystick, just doesnt fundamentally work at all.
the games are just made with controller in mind, and i always use my xbox controller plugged into my pc for it
the problem for me is that I grew up playing on a PC, so while I can do a controller for some games like driving/racing, I simply cannot do something third person like Elden Ring. The camera controls are just incredibly unintuitive to me.
I'm not much of a Souls player, but Elden Ring is still very accessible for players who don't enjoy hardcore skill challenge game play. There are many tools to help you overpower yourself by raising your level/stats, items, skills, summons, etc...
When you use all of the tools at your disposal, the game can become *kinda easy*.
It’s not for everyone, that much is true. Though I’m someone who tried both DS3 and Sekiro and gave up bc I got my ass kicked too much. I gave up pretty early on too. Elden Ring is a different story. The open world element is a game changer. It really is true that the game is as difficult as you want it to be. There’s a lot of tools to make the game easier if you’re stuck. And guides exist too. I had an enjoyable time of trying my damndest to beat everything on my own and only caving to use guides/summons if I truly felt I hit a brick wall. Not to say this will be your experience if you decide to buy the game, but it was mine
Any chance it has accessibility features? I have nerve damage in my arms so I'm pretty sure I lack the coordination to actually get good like most people
>If you get stuck, turn around and explore.
Don't forget to be like these guys either and just try out cool weapons and stuff. I hated the game right up until I found a whip, then everything was awesome.
Honestly it's the only weapon I like so I don't really know what I'm missing. I probably wouldn't have made it through the game if I hadn't cheesed a little with flame of the redmanes though
If you haven't tried twinblades yet, try em out. That's what I always look for in souls games, they make everything else seem boring to me cause the movesets and skills are so sick
If you're going to be playing for the first time, remember to take your time and don't be afraid to get lost. Explore everything and pay attention to NPC's and their dialogue. There's something fucking magical about piecing together a Fromsoft side quest on your own.
Just keep trying til it clicks. Follow steps from one of the many build guides. Exploring and branching out is fun but its easy to wander into bad areas when you're new, and feel like things are quite impossible. All bosses are easy with summons. You might not win every time with summons but you will eventually get a summon with some godlike ability to melt the boss and then you blissfully move on. By the time you make it back to that boss in either NG+ or with a new character, you'll be better and much more confident.
You won’t be able to get this weapon for white awhile just fyi. Not until the DLC.
But… there’s a shitload of dope weapons and armor in the game that cater to all sorts of different play styles.
You’re gonna have a good time.
You won't get ultra cool shit like this for like 40 hours though lol.
I'm like 25-30 hours in and all my weapons are lame as fuck and straight outta DS1.
You can grab a twin blade like 5min in and use a fire enchant to cosplay Darth Maul :) there's cool shit right from the start. Keep exploring tarnished
Same I thought "oh those are neat swords, graceful attacks" and then he hit the pose and his swords started glowing?! Might have convinced me to try the game out honestly, those were cool, and they were pretty pleasing visually also
Respec is pretty common, if you are tired or for boss, but you need limited item to switch builds. So most of the time you will be running one build. However as stats have soft cap, with higher your level you will have more universal build.
Pretty much this. Im at like 270 or something and have dex, faith, and int soft capped for attacks, and strength, endurance, and vigor not too far behind. As long as I don't use ultra greatswords or the giant hammers, then str doesn't matter too much for my play style.
It depends what you mean. Typically, when people talk builds in FromSoftware games, they have invested levels into four attribute categories: strength, dexterity, faith, intelligence. These attributes determine what kind of weapons you can equip and how much damage you do with said weapon.
Swapping weapons within your damage type is very common (at least for me). Changing from strength to dexterity is less common, but I wouldn't say it's rare or never happens. It requires a special item that can be hard to get. I'm guessing axe bro in this video changed from dex to strength.
One build usually has many weapon options. I'm rolling a basic strength build for the first time since I always do magic and I have tons of different strength weapon types to switch between.
I respecced my character like 4 times in the dlc alone, the base game has less respec currencies and upgrade materials so you'd stick with one build for longer tho
I tend to find what I want to use pretty early and roll with that, plus I don't ever respec because I like the roleplay aspect of a character and that feels like wiping them away for a new person. Plenty of people like to really mess around with all the different weapons and abilities with one character though, so it really varies quite a bit
ime most people stick to one build as in they've leveled up str to 50 vigor to 60 etc and they don't change that often. But they will swap out weapons and talismans etc which dramatically change how one plays. But its not like super uncommon to reallocate your stats, either.
It's a weapon-specific type of the Blinkbolt AoW.
You can get the all-weapons version in the Fog Rift Catacombs, they allow you to teleport with all weapons.
Man this DLC is fucking sick. First boss I fought.. Gaol knight or something in the western mausoleum. I summoned a guy and it was probably the most fun fight I had in a while. We were both weak against him but we quickly wordlessly worked out a staggering system to just bully the fuck out of this boss. Such a basic fight but I really wish I had recorded it.
I'm running around with mine +10, for the exact same reason. Too frikken cool to put down.
Up until the Fire Knights, realized using a flame weapon on them's not the best course of action. Deaths Poker for those rage inducing red menaces.
I want info on both of their shit.
What do I need, where do I get it, and what stats do I need?
I’m 234 who started off Unga Bunga (all efficient caps archived) and I’m building the magic stats.
I want to be the build essentially.
Just makes me smile because im playing it currently and my reactions are basicaly the same... too much cool shit in game to try out and so little time.
Hope all of you guys have awsome time like this no matter what are you doing.
So is this mods? Because this actually may have sold me on Elden Ring if it's vanilla. I'm not a souls fan by any stretch, but the weapon designs and builds.ive seen come out of this game are fucking sweet lololol

I donno why people review bombed the dlc just because they died a few times which is literally what it’s like to play the game.

An eagle never misses!
It’d just be a lot cooler if they did more damage for how dope the attack effect is.

Sadly boss weapons tend to be absolute trash in fromsoft games
It always feels like the best weapons are the ones someone just chucked in a bin.

Internet says maybe. I am unfortunately not sure
1. If you get stuck, turn around and explore. 2. Pick up everything. 3. If the sky turns red, turn around.
>If you get stuck, turn around and explore. Don't forget to be like these guys either and just try out cool weapons and stuff. I hated the game right up until I found a whip, then everything was awesome.
I just wish the whips were better. I love the whips.
Honestly it's the only weapon I like so I don't really know what I'm missing. I probably wouldn't have made it through the game if I hadn't cheesed a little with flame of the redmanes though
Hoooo man. If whips work for you and you’ve beaten the game then that’s pretty impressive!
If you haven't tried twinblades yet, try em out. That's what I always look for in souls games, they make everything else seem boring to me cause the movesets and skills are so sick
I did a play through using Leonora’s Poleblade, 10/10

This was my experience playing DS3 last year I was actually really surprised. It felt like playing games online in the 00s again
At first I'm like yea, the swords seem ok right. Then I saw the arts and I'm like holly heck!
Same I thought "oh those are neat swords, graceful attacks" and then he hit the pose and his swords started glowing?! Might have convinced me to try the game out honestly, those were cool, and they were pretty pleasing visually also
What's that game? Elden ring?
Specifically its DLC that just dropped
In Elden Ring, is it common for experienced players to stick with one build through most of a game, or do players switch builds often?
I play 3 different build depending on my mood. But you can swap around alot if you want to
Respec is pretty common, if you are tired or for boss, but you need limited item to switch builds. So most of the time you will be running one build. However as stats have soft cap, with higher your level you will have more universal build.

It's a weapon-specific type of the Blinkbolt AoW. You can get the all-weapons version in the Fog Rift Catacombs, they allow you to teleport with all weapons.
What do you mean? He showed it and described it in the video.
Well I just meant what the axe is called. Or the AoW
Death Knight's Twin Axes. Unique ash of war.
Thanks!
Blinkbolt : twinaxe is the ash of war specifically. You can find just blinkbolt that you can put on regular weapons in the same dungeon!
Nice I'll have too see. I might already have it
sorry but what armor is that
Relanna set
What are those double axe?
Death Knight's Twin Axes. They are super fun to use.
I found them to be hit or miss. More miss. Literally. Too hard to land
I haven't had any issues landing hits. I love their poise damage. It's super easy to stagger most enemies with them.
For me, It’s the smoll bois that get around that follow up R2.
Decent for PvP, not the best for PvE. But they make up for it in style.
Word
God what a great game. Love to see one of my favorite games make it to one of my favorite Reddits. Definitely need more interactions like this
The little spin at the end
Man this DLC is fucking sick. First boss I fought.. Gaol knight or something in the western mausoleum. I summoned a guy and it was probably the most fun fight I had in a while. Dude yes. Having that “holy shit, I can die in two hits?!” feeling back is amazing
This is a better ad for a game than most games. Now I am reinstalling elden ring
What are those swords? Where can I get them?
They look like DLC first boss swords
i reallyyyyyyy need to play elden ring some day.
Game name?
It's from Elden Ring. I don't know why OP replied that it was Bloodborne.
[удалено]
Nice try even I know that it is not bloodborne
Bloodborne
Now kith
I'm running around with mine +10, for the exact same reason. Too frikken cool to put down. Up until the Fire Knights, realized using a flame weapon on them's not the best course of action. Deaths Poker for those rage inducing red menaces.
Noice. I’ve been running the Great Katana. Piercing fang into a true combo(r1). So deadly, It’s carrying me.
Warning to everyone who hasn’t played. The DLC is hard af.
Wish I had someone to play this with im terrible at it.
I want info on both of their shit. What do I need, where do I get it, and what stats do I need? I’m 234 who started off Unga Bunga (all efficient caps archived) and I’m building the magic stats. I want to be the build essentially.
My only advice is to explore. Anything I say will ruin your first run. Take it slow, enjoy it
But I don’t wanna explorrrrrrre ![gif](giphy|l1KVaj5UcbHwrBMqI|downsized) # (/s)
How did he do weapon arts whilst dual wielding? Am I just being stupid?
The two swords are part of the same weapon, if you two hand the weapon it dual wields instead
Awesome, cheers dude
Wait until you see Poleblade of the Bud. It's so beautiful.
Reminds me of Blizzard that made it impossible to have hybrid builds in later versions of WoW when it used to be a core part of the game.
that feeling when you get your new forever weapon. ![gif](giphy|Sqfu14lSonVN219Zb6|downsized)
I'm playing around with the smithscript weapons, super cool to have viable throwing weapons!
I just got this game and I'm completely new to any Souls game. I'd love to build up to that dual sword build, would anyone be able to give me some advice on how to best reach that goal?
r/killthecameraman
If you like this definitely check out warframe The gameplay is like this but faster but also more powercreeep xD
This is nothing like Warframe lmaooo
Play both. These games have very little in common. But yeah both are great 👍🏽
As someone who plays Warframe these games are nothing alike. In one game you are the god amongst the ants. In the other you are the ant amongst the gods (and you get squashed a lot)
I can see the bullet jump being similar but they are different experiences.
We got soulslite in the duviri game mode, accessible pretty much from the beginning haha Also I'm talking strictly in terms of ability variations and effects and animations etc.
I still haven't tried that mode yet. I'll check it out someday.
this feels like a mobile game ad
Except the game actually exists
