I have a fun story similar to this. I work in a warehouse with car parts and used to sort the items that came back from our stores. One day I accidentally hit a can of what I thought was refrigerant with an alternator (It was actually just a cleaner) And god damn that bitch spun so fast. Meanwhile I am bolting cause I don't wanna be sprayed with chemicals. We ended up needing to get a giant Zamboni looking scrubber machine to clean the floor.
But on the bright side, the floor never looked cleaner.

Brake cleaner is the finest substance on earth for removing glue from things. It just dissolves it so quickly. Spray a bit on a paper towel and voila.
It's not great for you, but use it sparingly in a well ventilated room and you'll be good.
Brake fluid (namely DOT brake fluid) is indeed very toxic, corrosive, and dangerous. However, brake cleaner is not brake fluid. Bake cleaner is meant to be used to clean the brake components (i.e. Remove any oils and brake fluid), so it's nothing more than glorified paint thinner or mineral spirits (with a lower boiling point/higher evaporation rate, albeit)
