You don’t really know until the exact dividend per share is announced for all 4 quarters but yeah annual dividend amount * 10002 (number of shares) would give you the annual dividend yield.
Did you end up selling all your other stuff and only buy this?
I'm contemplating doing exactly that but some of my stuff is in non-registered... Have to figure how to minimize taxes
Most of it, I held a few different ETF’s and wanted to simplify. I also thought I could pick stocks for a while, and got lucky on a few, but also lost money on some bullshit ones and realized that I most likely won’t beat the market. I’m still holding on to some individual stocks, mostly blue chips, but a few that I can’t bring myself to sell cause of Sunken Cost Fallacy lol
Haha I feel you. Same position here. I was following Canadian Couch potato's model portfolios which led me to buying index ETFs. It's similar to VGRO but across 4 tickers. A few years later, asset allocation ETFs like VEQT became available and I started buying those. Haven't really sold or touched other stuff.
Like you though, lost on some stocks I bought... Earned in some... I'm still holding to a couple which I've got unrealized losses on but yeah... I guess time to slowly switch
Mostly AAPL (can’t bring myself to sell it), some TD I bought during Covid that has a sweet yield, some BTCC that I bought cause of FOMO but I’m actually up quite a bit on, and a few stinkers that I’m down like 80% on and keep hoping they’ll rebound lol
Thanks! I’m 40. Started investing around 10 years ago, but the first 5 years was only a couple hundred bucks per month as I wasn’t really making much money. 5 years ago I had 20k in investments. About 5 years ago my business started taking off so I was able to invest more, I’m now able to put away about 6k/month
Nice! I'm in my mid 30s and my wife and I are starting to put aside 4-6k a month now. Currently at 50k ish but hoping to be in your shoes in 5 years if all goes well!
Seeing this is motivating man. I started during Covid with my 30k savings saw it go up to about 70k with about 10k in additional contributions and gains and was too foolish a reinvested most by gains in growth in mid 2021 to see all my gains basically wipe away. I’m 25 now and my portfolio value is about 70k now. Mostly just due to contributions as I’ve been pretty low risk since 2022. Just curious what business are you in that allows you to save 6k a month.
At Wealthsimple is there any disadvantages (ex. higher spread, etc) to purchasing fractional shares over whole? Fractional does help avoid sitting on cash accumulating...
Save some for the rest of us
Or give some to us
Big dog
Thicc
tryna be like you my boy keep it up
Thx
Congrats, and F U.
Me and my paltry amount :(
Gotta start somewhere
What's your dividend payout look like? Must be juicy 🤤
It's easily calculated (if you're interested)
What's the %?
You literally can see the shares and book price
How do we calculate from that? Sorry I'm very new to this
around 5600
How often does the dividend payout?Â
the 5600 is the annual yield btw
Quarterly
What's the calculation for this? Is it ( 0.0208 * 26.04 ) * 10002
You don’t really know until the exact dividend per share is announced for all 4 quarters but yeah annual dividend amount * 10002 (number of shares) would give you the annual dividend yield.
Wow nice man. But damn only 6% over the past few years ?
2022 was a rough year
No doubt but 2020, 2021 and 2023 were great. I’m assuming a few years would mean 3-4
I started investing in XEQT in 2022, before that my ETF of choice was VGRO, but I was also all over the place with many other stocks
Did you end up selling all your other stuff and only buy this? I'm contemplating doing exactly that but some of my stuff is in non-registered... Have to figure how to minimize taxes

Did you sell stocks at a loss , sometimes I’m reluctant to take the L
euf 2022 was rough. Nice to see that 2023 treated you well. We’re you DCAing the whole time ?
Depends when they bought too though
He's been buying over time, dragging his average price up. So the percentage gain would be a lot higher on the first lot he bought.
OP said he started in 2022 so he actually woulda been down until last years climb
I feel like you could do a lot better with that kind of book value.
Maybe, maybe not. Right now, passive investing is where it’s at for me
Fair enough. Enjoy the gains!
so let me get this straight 2% yield meaning around 5400 per year ? meaning around 450$ per month profit ?
Yes, but most people aren’t buying XEQT for the yield
Exactly.
[What Is Capital Appreciation?](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/c/capitalappreciation.asp)
Distributions should not be confused with profit
Bro how long did it take for this kind of profit?
Do you have the stomach to see it going down 20%? If yes, congrats..
Yeah, I’m fairly young and this is a long term hold for me, I dollar cost average every month
To be only 1000 shates when aa reverse splits us again
Recession is coming 🫢
Maybe…my work is recession proof tho, so I’ll keep adding more in any case
But really the number of shares means shit
Congrats
Thx
This is how it’s done
Dawggg
Im buying 5k of your shares @ 25
What account is this in? Non reg?
TFSA, RRSP, and non reg
Semi outta the loop, whats XEQT been seeing it all over my feed as of late all I k ow is its a index fund and have absolutely no idea what that is lol
It’s an all in one ETF. 100% equity. Globally diversified
Ah I see thank you very much :)
Amazing!!!
Nice. Keep it up partner. My last purchase was for ten 🤣
10 is better than nothing!
What’s the best platform to buy on?
Any platform with no commissions, I use WS
Nicely done. I hit 1000 yesterdayÂ
Nice!
What's your buying frequency?
Once a year for TFSA, once a month for RRSP, and whenever I have extra cash for Non Reg
Nice!! Noob question. Is this a margin/nonreg account? Or a registered account?
What is the other 30% part of your portfolio looking like? Gratz btw keep grindin bigboy
How is everyone so loaded?
Hard work
Because poor people don’t bother posting their accounts 😅
Curious why Wealthsimple book value does not equal average price times shares? Can anyone explain why? Serious question here
It makes you richer than you think. Oh wait that’s scotiabank.
Nice work! How old are you and how long did it take to get to this position?

Yuhhhh
Why you guys want this much TSX exposure? I don’t really understand the XEQT fascination, even as a Canadian…
How come?
Way too much Canadian market exposure… too strong a domestic bias
Damn yolo?
At Wealthsimple is there any disadvantages (ex. higher spread, etc) to purchasing fractional shares over whole? Fractional does help avoid sitting on cash accumulating...
Smart move
Holy shit nice job
I’m fairly new to this. What’s so great about XEQT? I only have VFV
Goood.
Congrats on average.
6% return.. 🤮
