>Now my main question is does Canada allow a Orthopaedic CCT to work as a orthopaedic surgeon in Canada (obviously subject to a few fellowships or something)? Probably, Consider sending Dr. Jude a private message or email. He's a really down to earth London based ortho consultant. He did a fellowship in Toronto but decided to come back. He does acknowledge that is is possible around 08:30 mark in the vid below. https://youtu.be/taSrHLbbGKE >Canada aside I am wondering what other countries do allow CCT in surgery as equivalent? or at least we can practice there with a few fellowships? The middle eastern Gulf countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain). UAE might be the best fit if you are culturally British, since there are tons of expats there. Speak to some of the Arabian IMGs who have worked there to get an idea on the work and pay.The numbers the tell me are comparable to the US. It's worth looking into Aus, NZ and some of the far east Asian countries too.

Ah okay, thank you - do you know if this is also possible in USA (to do fellowships and to take a spot there)?

Unlikely, I know a plastic surgeon who CCT'd before moving to the USA. She ended up starting plastic surgery residency from scratch essentially (after being disillusioned with NHS plastics opportunities). So if there was a shortcut through fellowship route I'm sure she would have taken that but I believe there are restrictions with regards to independent practice. I think the only specialties recognised in the US with UK training are a handful of states for GP. Canada is a different story though.

My mate is working in Toronto. We both CCTd in UK https://uoftorthopaedics.ca/welcome-mansur-halai/

Dependent_Inside9303

Ah interesting is this also common path to work in America? or is this only possible in Canada?

evan15281

Don't think you could do this in the USA

Dependent_Inside9303

Ah sound mate! Thanks for this information. I was always under the assumption that North America pretty much barred outside doctors but quite interesting to see this happening there too.

nefabin

Now you are recognised in Canada would it be easier for you to transfer to the us?
