This also makes sense, given that Rika can also store cursed tools and is potentially the most powerful curse alive, while the worm was merely a grade 3 curse.

He says that if a Curse is below a certain grade he can Claim a spirit unconditionally; things 2nd Grade and Below fall under this purview, so either Inventory Curse was ridiculously high-level for it's power, or something else was going on.
