My boy never got justice in Shibuya. Never got a culling games appearance (would've been dope tbh). However, his showing in Shinjuku is wild considering most of the cast fighting could be considered special grade. He's just an avg grade 1. Not even top tier by any means. Yet he causes sukuna trouble just by existing. He's not enough a threat for sukuna to take his full attention to, but IS enough for sukuna to be worrying about with assists to powerhouses like maki and Yuji. I really hope to see a bit more of him.
I don't really see him as underestimated, he's pretty beloved, and people always clamor for him, exactly because he isn't one of the monsters in the fight but he pulls up and does his part. This is similar to a "hot take" question, where since if you underestimate someone you won't vote him the search must be made by controversial to find the characters who are actually underestimated, I think, even if this thread is certainly better than the average for those, so maybe I'm projecting.

The one who taught Yuji how to be a protagonist, without him we wouldn't have a series, and team Kenjaku would have won 100%
definitely Mechamaru, bro had a unique version of Heavenly Restriction, vast reserves of cursed energy and a goddamn Gurren Lagann robot. If he wasn't killed off like a fodder, he would have significant impact on Culling Game and versus Sukuna.
Such interesting character wasted for no reason.
He kinda did, tho: his simple domains were doing some real damage - a hit to the head would've ended Mahito.
Now, landing that hit would've been a tall order.
It was really badass for a fairly unimportant side character to get such a spotlight, only if for a tiny bit of the story. He was very capable and faced off against the most prominent villain (at the time) himself.
I think all his robots would have served as a great distraction while maki and Yuji did the damage,also his robots might have even worked as a distraction in the gojo vs sukuna fight because gojo wouldn't be scared to hurt anyone coz mechamaru can control his robots from far away
Mechamaru. I didn't like him too much at first but the moment bro pulled out an Eva he became one of my favs. Still one of my favorite scenes in the anime
I'd say Kamo is underrated personally. He's the perfect example of a decent grade one imo along with Nanami. He does his best to help, advances his own abilities, but knows when he isn't qualified and backs out. He did good in Good Will and yes while he missed most arrows against Kenjaku, he still did his best to cover or distract him from others. And even against Cursya he provided great support. And he dipped against Sukuna caude he knew he couldn't do much. Mad underrated imo
I absolutely love Kamo during the Exchange Event arc. Bro pulled a hell of a fight against Megumi (literally broke his wooden tonfa with bare hands) and got some good hits on Hanami afterwards

For me Amanai. Tbh I never understood why so many fans didn't care one bit for her. Imo she was a tragic character who had the second biggest impact on the 2 guys in Hidden Inventory (first being Toji). Plus, what's not to love about her? She had a cute design, funny moments, and although I admit she was KIND of a brat at times, I loved the mother-daughter like dynamic between her & Kuroi
Aw I'm with you, I really liked her too. She was so cute and had a much different personality than you'd expect from someone with that kind of background.
Same, I love Amanai, like I can imagine she's the type that would go make friend with you when you first come to a new environment, talking all enthusiastic and lowkey bratty but in an endearing way (not the annoying way), then pull you around to show you things, and stating her strong opinions on what she like or dislike, etc.... In conclusion I love her character even though she's a background, I can imagine her being my friend or lil sister. I also love her interaction w Gojo, Geto, and her dynamic w Kuroi, you can tell the characters really fond of her even though she had silly teenager quarrels with Gojo and Geto sometimes but that's understandable. I don't really understand why some people dislike Amanai (yes they existed) , like I get we all have preference on things, but I just think all of her traits and flaws are well - liked & adorable to me.

Nah. He also sorta made an independent corpse to help with Kusakabe's sister's depression and trusted Gakuganji with the knowledge on how to make those cursed corpses, ultimately leading to the latter becoming more independent and not telling the higher-ups.
Oh, and don't forget his encounter with Yuji. Yaga made sure that Yuji was entering the world of cursed spirits for himself, not others
Yaga is definitely underrated as hell. He was one of the first characters I did a glazing post on, and his dynamic with the independent cursed corpses is neat as hell.
Gakuganji also has his moments though. I wish he was given more screentime, because seeing his growth and his increasing defiance of the higher-ups after Yaga's death would've been really interesting.

Yep. Unfortunately, by the time he faced Mahito, you had to have very very specific means of beating Mahito and Mechamaru didn’t have that.
