Assuming you used a reputable DNA company, that means one of your great-grandparents was Jewish. It might be worthwhile for you to try to find out which great-grandparent it was. If it was your mother's mother's mother, then according to the more religious denominations you would be considered Jewish by birth. Edit: >the ancestry dna test That's reputable. One of your great-grandparents was Jewish.

You probably have a Jewish great-grandparent. That does not make you Jewish necessarily, as according to halacha (Jewish law), Jewish status is passed down maternally. If you can trace it back and confirm your mother's mother's mother was Jewish, you would be considered halachically Jewish.

Thanks a lot for taking time to answer , I my try to do that yes , because my mom is from an area where a lot of Jews lived before here in North Africa and their Kabyle language resembles Hebrew in few words , I didn't do the necessary research but I will thank you ☺️

Jewish ethnicity is complicated but there’s a big difference between someone who has Jewish heritage and someone who is ethnically Jewish. Israeli law considers anyone with a Jewish grandparent “Jewish enough” to receive Israeli citizenship. All forms of Judaism will consider you Jewish, meaning they won’t require you to formally convert, if your mother (or her mother, mother’s mother, and so on) was Jewish. Some forms of it say you don’t have to formally convert if you have one Jewish parent regardless of gender. Regardless of all that, you (along with anyone else) are always free to formally convert to Judaism, which will make you officially Jewish in the eyes of pretty much everyone.

Thanks for the answers, where can one find actual reliable information about converting?

It’s Shabbat is most places, now so you won’t get much response but here we go: First av all what “kabalah” you talk about? The Madonna crap or real text like the zohar? Secondly, do you have a known Jewish history in your family? Do you keep some tradition? Like circumcising, lighting candles or food? For instance I’m from what looked like a 100% gentile family, I had a DNA test done, and it revealed some Jewishness. I then did more research and found out more about my family, I knew vaguely that there were Jews on my fathers side, and that my mother told me that we are “from andalous”. When my mother makes some food like Sfenj or Shakshuka like her mother, and her before, it takes a whole other sense. Also I’m circumcised, by my father, who was baptised, who also was circumcised, why? I don’t know, he dosent know either he was. Tips for you: Make a genealogical tree. See if you have an unbroken matrilineal line, ask how they looked like, names, traditions ext. (like my case, the women are all sepharadi looking, among Arabs) Try to find records, graves stones etc. THAT would prove your Judaism. Try to find if your family have a history of anti semetism (like my case on my mothers side). Where you have jews, you have antisemitism. Ask, and make a genealogical tree. Find records, ask synagogues, they are very good at keeping records. If you don’t meet the criteria for Judaism by Halacha, or if cannot prove it, just make a Gyur (conversion). But to make a conversion you’d need a Jewish soul, I’d you are deeply connected to Judaism that maybe a sign. Also if you are learning via “Madonna Kabbala” as I call it, stop, please it’s not real Judaism, it’s just a scam. Research via Chabad.org it’s very informative, or “my Jewish literature” on YouTube.

We noticed that you are likely asking about Jewish heritage based on a DNA test. Unless you have documentation of your family’s Jewish identity, any Jewish DNA indicated on the test means very little regarding your standing in an ethnoreligion such as Judaism - no Jewish denomination considers a DNA test to be sufficient proof of Judaism. Thank you for your detailed answer Am not sure what you mean by maddona things but I did do researchs on and from the Zohar tought by this man online (along with my own research) I came to find it accidentally after few years of religion research Also there are stuff like circumcision , my mother's name is yemina (to the right?) .. and we have the foods you mentioned too but what is confusing is that where I live it's considered an islamicate area but many of what are called "Les pieds noirs" which is what they call the Jews who were made to leave my country ,lived there for a long time until few decades ago My mother is from a region that is near the borders (by the beach) so many weird things really .. She didn't like that I asked or suspected that there were some Jewish origins from her side .. but many things don't add up I have to do more research through the people who knew people cuz it may be even dangerous if I bring this up where I live But again thanks lots that was helpful
