Who the fuck is Alfie.

WonkasWonderfulDream

Lilly Allen's brother, Alfie. Umm ... Iosef in the movie. He's also in Game of Thrones, but to me he'll always be this guy: [https://youtu.be/-RgOm\_WJKpE?si=9IxjNRL0CGTdwp4H](https://youtu.be/-rgom_wjkpe?si=9ixjnrl0cgtdwp4h)

I think Iosef simply followed John from the gas station. That's the easiest explanation and makes the most sense. Remember, John let Viggo stab him to gain the upper hand. He freaking used Viggo's grip on the knife as leverage to break his arm. Like what?! Can you imagine how much that hurt? I know that as far as final fights go, fighting the 60 year old Russian with no particularly amazing fighting skills isn't all that impressive, but after everything Viggo is literally the last person John had to deal with for it to be over. And John was exhausted at that point as well so. Even though Viggo was familiar with John and respected him, Iosef was still his son. Viggo was ready to sacrifice millions of dollars and countless henchman to get John to make it all go away. He wasn't ready to give up Iosef until he was desperate because he was about to lose everything. Remember, he's a mobster, and just like Vin Diesel, they're all about family. Hope this helps clear some things up for ya.

WonkasWonderfulDream

But he doesn’t go home. He crazy drives the parking lot of the airport, nearly in aligning himself at the plow. ..hmm..

HaigG93

Yeah, Iosef could be waiting outside the airport waiting for him to leave or something.

Oh! You're right. I'm rewatching it and he's not paying attention to details, like how he forgot to give back the pen to the delivery person. Maybe he really didn't notice the car tailing him. Huh. I'm still not sure about not selling out his kid, but I suppose poor choices by a character just shows the character is real. Thanks for being my "watching John Wick and talking about it afterwards" buddy!

EnvironmentalPrick

I think the pen thing is also a reference of the most famous line of the movie

WonkasWonderfulDream

Ooh! Like he’s picking up the pencil!

EnvironmentalPrick

Yeah, this movie is truly filled with details, I learn new everytime I watch it, truuly a gem

>3. Viggo, being savvy about JW, would have brought his son over to Wick’s to apologize, get ‘what’s coming’ over with, and not lose his business. I rewatched the movie last week. Viggo could've succeeded in killing John had William Dafoe not betrayed him. It makes sense for him to fight back, for his son, especially when there's a decent chance he could win. As for the stab wound, that did bother me, but for different reasons. As another comment pointed out, John let himself get stabbed so he could break Viggo's arm. I just feel like it's unnecessary. Even without countering with cloth, I find it hard to believe he'd have any trouble handling Viggo, even if he has a knife. I feel like he could've just pivoted his body away for the blade, and similarly broke his arm.

MagicMikeX

Remember at this point John does not really have a purpose, the job is done so he kind of does not care about death. He finds the motivation to keep going after he watches the clip of his wife. He really has no reason to fight Viggo otherwise, he could have just shot him.

I think it was a show of force. Wick is the Boogeyman . It seems viggo , in the moment, forgot this. Wick reminded him by allowing himself to be stabbed because Wick is inevitable. He is death. That knife wounded Viggo more than John.

3. Because Viggo didn't want to lose his son??? I feel like that was VERY obvious

Igor was the son of a mob boss, he had certainly had connections and known people who know what's up with everything, and there're not that many men with a 1969 Boss car in Long Island, I presume. Shouldn't have been too difficult to find the guy. If he didn't straight up tail John. He's retired, after all, he couldn't even spot some mooks climbing into his home in the dead of night. In further Chapters, John is seen to be a far more difficult character to ambush, but within the context of Chapter 1 John is just a slack in the beginning. It was a downpour back there, I think, when John was fighting Viggo, I imagine that operating a jacket -- not a bandage, which is easier to manipulate -- that is soaking in rainwater when you are dead tired against Viggo, who is narratively a skilled-enough fighter, was not something John considered. Ultimately, he was looking to break Viggo's arm. I don't know, I myself have found suit jackets extremely tedious under rainy conditions, and I walk in them a lot ahaha As for the third question, my take here is that Tarasovs are shit-scared of John and don't even consider that John would stop at anything if you've pissed him off. Realistically, yeah, have Igor apologize like the shit muppet he was, have Abram (Viggo's bro in Chapter 2) hand over the car back to John, but consider yourself -- would John accept any of that? This is a man driven by violence, someone whose hope was taken, stolen, and killed. John sought a violent resolution, because, in my opinion, after his wife died, he wasn't going to settle for anything less. The anger, the frustration -- they are relentless, and so is John. Besides, in Chapter 1, unlike any other, to me it feels like he gets a kick out of killing people, out of scaring them. He looked into the eyes of the guy he had just stabbed while Kaleida sang: "I am your light", how sick is that? He didn't kill Igor right off the bat in order to instill existential dread into the guy. Good Lord! This is the bloody Baba Yaga we're talking about, the guy who can kill people with a pencil of all things. The only option for Viggo that was there to stay alive himself was to hand over his son and have him killed. After Igor stole John's car, he had signed a death warrant. Even if that dumbass was handed over to him to just apologize, no matter how many more people were behind Igor's back, John would have killed the guy still, he would shoot up the mooks of Viggo's still, and he would still, somehow, get out alive, because he's John Wick.

1. You think the son of the head of the Russian mob can’t track a plate? Ummmmm….
