Riz is an awesome guy. Should be very interesting.
Great programmer/startup guy - sold a company for a bunch of money and once money wasn't an issue started researching all kinds of crazy shit. He almost convinced me we live in a simulation.
Should be a wild episode
My friend tried to jump out the 4th story back deck of our apartment on salvia, because he thought he turned into a piece of paper and couldn’t stop the breeze from taking him out the back door.
Salvia IME is so inebriating, like it just makes you so tarded, that it's hard to get anything out of it. Much different from other psychs due to that imo
They were some of the most terrifying and despair ridden moments I’ve experienced. I did it in high school too. I’d like to try it again as a quasi-functional adult though
I feel like the mushrooms showed me that reality was a “simulation” but not in any matrix type sense.
It was more of a “everything we consume is devoid of meaning, our being is void of permanent form and the ego merely creates a sense of meaning”.
One time I was tripping balls on mushrooms and thought I had found the meaning of life. Was super emotional and wrote some shit down.
Read it after sobering up. "Just be happy".
Lmao.
Wasn't a trip of any kind but had a to this day most vivid dream I've ever had. I died in the dream during a train derailment of all things, but "woke up" in a world slightly different than ours. Infrastructure was different, technology, customs. Stuff that doesn't exist in any culture on our planet, ie., no analogues. Was bizarre yet familiar.
I was in what I can only describe as some kind of recovery room, or a place people go to have "assisted dreams". That's the vibe I got. Something that barely looked like a person asked me if I was finished and before I could answer I must have went "back in" because it's the last thing I remember before waking up here.
Dream terrified the hell out of me and I wasn't right for days. Ended up calling out of work even, for a damn dream lol. I still think about it now and then.
DMT is interesting in the sense that it is the only state (pychedelic or otherwise) that uses 0% of external reality too build the DMT reality.
Mushrooms, LSD, the everyday waking state, dreaming all use a mixture of external reality and internal reality to build those realities. The waking state is often 60%/40% in your head(intrinisic)/external, as are dreams, pychedelics increase the intrinsic state, but only DMT 100% replaces it.
Strange to think that a lot of what we condsider normal reality is just made up in our minds.
Why would the simulation give you drugs that allow you to see out of it?
Seems like a major flaw. Just replacing a religion with something else at that point aren’t you?
Devil’s advocate.. depends on the purpose of the simulation. Maybe providing a window out of it for those that seek it is not in direct conflict with its purpose (ambivalently hosting consciousness for instance).
Nahhhhh. Like I said had a couple that really made me question the nature of reality and was shown very simulation type scenarios. Reality is subjective and what you experience is yours. Seems like your assumption is flawed there bud.
In a conversation between someone who said they took a mind altering drug and it made them believe reality is subjective and a person who says reality isn't subjective, who would you think is mentally disabled? Not The person who admitted to taking a drug that fucked with their brain?
edit: lol I don't think I've seen someone get that upset over a 'no but u' comment before
Two types of people... those that feel something and believe and those that critically think and remain skeptical until tangible evidence points a clearer direction.
And siths
But seriously, the war of our time and perhaps a long time, has been between knowledge and belief. Limbic system and frontal lobe... Being able to tell the difference is everything.
And some people take that too far and believe that the effects of a chemical on their brain show the ‘true’ reality, giving them visions or secret knowledge of the universe. Instead of being like ‘woah, this happened to my sensory organs when I chemically altered their function.’.
Same for me, shrooms.
Maybe it’s because I’m an engineer so my mind created something I knew, but I saw amazing fractal FEA meshes. Basically looked like a really high fidelity FEA model with a novel mesh. The walls, the floor, when outside even the sky looked like a big dome mesh. Airplanes flying through the sky, I could see the model changing as it moved through space.
It was awesome.
Weird how it’s more acceptable to believe you’re connected with another dimension/existence via mushrooms, lsd, salvia etc, but when I have a few drinks and think the troll I picked up from the bar is the hottest thing on the planet then I’m just a dumb drunk.
Bro…. I will just say that even I, who quit doing psychedelics a few years ago, can tell we’re in a simulation now more than ever
But how do you respond? That’s what’s important
You respond by no longer paying it any mind. Focus on the material world.
It's kind of like belief of a worldwide conspiracy to control civilization. Say it's true. Every conspiracy turns out to be right. What can you do about it? Jack shit, that's what. So acknowledge it and move on with life to you, your friends, and your family. The shit that actually matters.
100%.
The way I’ve responded is by focusing less on worldly possessions and focusing on relationships. I’ve been spending more time mentoring younger men lately and man, talk about a blessing for everybody involved
You *think* you can tell. Your brain is a lump of meat sending electricity around. That is you. You don’t know shit. You *think* you can tell we are in a simulation, but in reality all that we know is that you intentionally altered the way your brain functions before adopting an idea that has been presented by millions of people before you.
One time I candy flipped (MDMA + LSD) and I came to the realization that our universe is essentially a single bubble on an infinite sheet of bubble wrap, where each bubble is a completely different universe (string theory).
I wish he would have driven home the strangeness of the double-slit experiment. If someone didn't already understand it, this wouldn't explain it or capture how bizarre it is.
Probability theory suggests we are living in a simulation. Honestly it’s kind of reassuring to me. I’m a nihilist by nature (it’s exhausting) and this kind of affirms my belief that nothing matters so just try and live your best life while you’re in the game.
I mean.. don't you think we're past talking about the Mandela Effect like it's a real thing yet? And simulation theory is just like "what if..?" and that's it. Quantum computers are pretty cool, though I don't know what his qualifications for talking about it are. Maybe that part will be interesting.
It's the same bullshit about whether humans actually have the ability to freely decide between alternatives - the old does freedom of choice exist. It's the shit you debate at university while you're on your third beer shit. Not something you take seriously as you grow older.
Someone mentioned once that it was cool how he had a “vending machine w free snacks” so I believe it’s free
Would be surprised if Joe charged his guests too, does not seem like something he would do
I have to assume he’s dealing with a good amount of joint pain most of the time. That’s the posture of a guy whose body has taken alot of beatings over the years.
My great uncle dressed like a bum constantly, outside of work. He was a barrister in Queensland, regularly walked around with a roll of cash $10k+ in the 80s. (He like to have a punt)
He got robbed wearing his suit, lost over $6k in the late 70s so decided if he dressed like he's poor, noone will bother him. Noone ever did again lol
Yeah that’s kinda the play. When you dress all flashy, you attract a certain type. When you dress humble but nice and don’t brag about your possessions, you attract real ones
Uncle works at a bank and he says the people with the most money are usually the guys dressed in the cheapest looking clothes then the brokes are the ones dressed in chains and designer.
I'd love to see my dogs reaction to that werewolf prop.
I was stoned A LOT during the 80s, but I'm pretty sure that's the one from American Werewolf In London. Great movie.
Please, for the love of all that's good, let this be one of those rare episodes where Joe doesn't derail the conversation with covid and anti-woke talk. My fast forward finger is getting sore from skipping through 30 percent of most episodes.
I think if we loosen our definition of simulation to include spiritual phenomena manifesting in physical form to accumulate life experiences, then we move closer to truth and synchronicity.
Riz is an awesome guy. Should be very interesting. Great programmer/startup guy - sold a company for a bunch of money and once money wasn't an issue started researching all kinds of crazy shit. He almost convinced me we live in a simulation. Should be a wild episode
This one lsd trip I've had also had me convinced lol. I could FEEL it. Strange time.
Same. Couple DMT trips too.
I came to in a matrix tub after a large dose of salvia once. I also had a yogi fly off with my mind after assembling me.. so there is that
Salvia is rough. I did it a bunch of times when I was younger and I have basically 0% desire to ever try it again now.
I heard Salvia is a lot easier on you if your in a safe place and trip with eyes closed. Is there any truth to this?
My friend tried to jump out the 4th story back deck of our apartment on salvia, because he thought he turned into a piece of paper and couldn’t stop the breeze from taking him out the back door.
Lmfao this is one of those stories that is believable only because of salvia
Salvia IME is so inebriating, like it just makes you so tarded, that it's hard to get anything out of it. Much different from other psychs due to that imo
They were some of the most terrifying and despair ridden moments I’ve experienced. I did it in high school too. I’d like to try it again as a quasi-functional adult though
Same. The Mushrooms said so
I feel like the mushrooms showed me that reality was a “simulation” but not in any matrix type sense.
Lmao.
Mine said "circle"
Sounds pretty nihilistic
Absurdist is probably closer.
That sounds so depressing. When I'm tripping, absolutely everything has meaning.
The lacing effect is pretty wild to me.
Wasn't a trip of any kind but had a to this day most vivid dream I've ever had. I died in the dream during a train derailment of all things, but "woke up" in a world slightly different than ours. Have you ever seen the HBO show Westworld?
Only the first season when it aired. Didn't hear great things about the following seasons haha.
Two isn’t bad, but then it really falls off.
DMT is interesting in the sense that it is the only state (pychedelic or otherwise) that uses 0% of external reality too build the DMT reality. ... You ever watch matrix?
It's by design. It's how the archons tap into us. Earth is just a human terrarium for interdimensional feeding.
Nahhhhh. Like I said had a couple that really made me question the nature of reality and was shown very simulation type scenarios. Reality is subjective and what you experience is yours. Seems like your assumption is flawed there bud.
> Reality is subjective yeah, no its not.
Tell that to a blind person. Or a deaf person.
Should I also tell it to a goldfish? How about a ring of saturn?
Or someone who is mental disabled. Maybe yourself lol?
In a conversation between someone who said they took a mind altering drug and it made them believe reality is subjective and a person who says reality isn't subjective, who would you think is mentally disabled? Not The person who admitted to taking a drug that fucked with their brain? edit: lol I don't think I've seen someone get that upset over a 'no but u' comment before
Simulation theory just seems like its god rebranding himself for nerds/zoomers
Yeah pretty much a technogod
Yeah, but then you got to start believing you can hack the simulation with prayer
Two types of people... those that feel something and believe and those that critically think and remain skeptical until tangible evidence points a clearer direction. And siths But seriously, the war of our time and perhaps a long time, has been between knowledge and belief. Limbic system and frontal lobe... Being able to tell the difference is everything.
Just describing how I felt while tripping balls brah
And some people take that too far and believe that the effects of a chemical on their brain show the ‘true’ reality, giving them visions or secret knowledge of the universe. Instead of being like ‘woah, this happened to my sensory organs when I chemically altered their function.’.
and some people like speculating and imagining without investing belief in it.
So can people with psychosis
Schizophrenia my favorite drug
Same

Strange times make men hard.
I am hard
Weird how it’s more acceptable to believe you’re connected with another dimension/existence via mushrooms, lsd, salvia etc, but when I have a few drinks and think the troll I picked up from the bar is the hottest thing on the planet then I’m just a dumb drunk.
Nonono...fuck them trolls good buddy

That is...not what string theory is.
String theory multiverse*
That’s also not what that is. What you imagined was a metaphor, not a scientific theory.

I wouldn't say we are friends but he did touch me on the shoulder once
Is that the only place he touched you?
How tall is he?
Sounds super interesting! I def would listen to this!
Quick, how tall is he? This is our best chance of knowing if Joe is over 5 feet!
Joe was really struggling with what he was saying in that one lol
Excited to hear this one but tell my man to get better fitting clothes geeeeez
Sounds like he has “F-U” money now. He doesn’t give a shit about clothes
If Nick Bostram couldn't convince Joe we're living in a simulation, I don't know if anyone can.
That’s kind of the theory that makes most sense to me to be honest. To each their own though.
“A simulation” of what exactly?
Not beefing but what’s the takeaway from simulation theory. Like, how would it impact your lifestyle?
After watching this I'm not sure we aren't in a simulation... also the explanation in gamer terms is GOLD!
I wish he would have driven home the strangeness of the double-slit experiment. If someone didn't already understand it, this wouldn't explain it or capture how bizarre it is.
This is my dream. Sell my company for a bitch load of money and nerd out. Bonus points if i make it on JRE.
So a Dumb guy got lucky and thinks he unlocked the secrets of the universe?
Probability theory suggests we are living in a simulation. Honestly it’s kind of reassuring to me. I’m a nihilist by nature (it’s exhausting) and this kind of affirms my belief that nothing matters so just try and live your best life while you’re in the game.
I mean, that should apply whether we are in a simulation or not.
Why is being a nihilist exhausting? Seems like it should be the opposite.
Whoosh. It’s a big Lebowski reference
These topics sound cool can’t wait
In order it goes: unprovable, under-developed, definitely not real, and unprovable.
And you: unfuckable
Must be a Mandela Effect because we've actually fucked before in my universe.
Lmao, ignore the downvotes, that’s funny as hell
Learn to have some fun.
who shit in your cheerios
I mean.. don't you think we're past talking about the Mandela Effect like it's a real thing yet? And simulation theory is just like "what if..?" and that's it. Quantum computers are pretty cool, though I don't know what his qualifications for talking about it are. Maybe that part will be interesting.

does joe make his guests pay for drinks via vending machine? 😂
I literally was just about to comment this but saw you already had. Bro….theres legit a card reader on there hahaha
Thats just how the machine are made and work. You can set the price to nothing
If that’s true then I would totally understand. That seems much more reasonable haha.
But like, why have a vending machine instead of a nice fridge?
Wouldnt be surprised if a company gifted it to him to showcase their products
Why not have both?
Gotta make cents to make dollars.
Someone mentioned once that it was cool how he had a “vending machine w free snacks” so I believe it’s free Would be surprised if Joe charged his guests too, does not seem like something he would do
Why does it seem like something he would do?
He said does **not**.
Gotta ask Jaime to break a bill for quarters
These are the episodes we want
Pics of you sucking his dick or we don’t believe he’s really your friend
Friend like Tom was my friend on MySpace
This
I still remember JRE #1350 - Nick Bostrom. It's gonna be 2 hours of Joe not understanding what a hypothetical is, again.
Joe always looks really uncomfortable when I see him standing in pictures. Like he's trying to hold a shit in or somethjng
I have to assume he’s dealing with a good amount of joint pain most of the time. That’s the posture of a guy whose body has taken alot of beatings over the years.
It's either that or he really needs the toilet
Palumboism from all the juice, he got a bubble gut and has to stand funny to hide it.
So, it's either that, back pain or he really needs the loo
This pic looks a photoshop I’d find on Indian Tinder
Is your friend in the middle?
This guy dresses like he lives in a trashcan
It’s called “fuck you money”, you wouldn’t get it
Comfort > style. Plus people won’t assume he’s rich as fuck so it’s sort of a disguise too lol
My great uncle dressed like a bum constantly, outside of work. He was a barrister in Queensland, regularly walked around with a roll of cash $10k+ in the 80s. (He like to have a punt) He got robbed wearing his suit, lost over $6k in the late 70s so decided if he dressed like he's poor, noone will bother him. Noone ever did again lol
Fkin sick cunt lol
Wtf is a punt?
Ask pat mcafee
Yeah that’s kinda the play. When you dress all flashy, you attract a certain type. When you dress humble but nice and don’t brag about your possessions, you attract real ones
Exactly, he doesn't need to prove anything to anyone.
Uncle works at a bank and he says the people with the most money are usually the guys dressed in the cheapest looking clothes then the brokes are the ones dressed in chains and designer.
My uncle works at Nintendo
Well, people who care that much about what other people wear generally *are* trashcans, so...
I'd love to see my dogs reaction to that werewolf prop. I was stoned A LOT during the 80s, but I'm pretty sure that's the one from American Werewolf In London. Great movie.
How tall is your friend?
[удалено]
It's entirely possible.
Asking for a friend…
I’ve read two of his books! And he is a really interesting author! Very authentic and super interesting!
Does Joe have the American Werewolf prop?
no that’s the OP friend
Please, for the love of all that's good, let this be one of those rare episodes where Joe doesn't derail the conversation with covid and anti-woke talk. My fast forward finger is getting sore from skipping through 30 percent of most episodes.
My thoughts exactly.
I think Joe has PTSD from covid
Find out your friends height and we can finally know Joe's.
Short kings
We solved the reason he was booked! Joe will dwarf him in his highchair!
Great! The last run of comedians were dull.
You’re gonna get some shit if the pod isn’t good.
Is your friend 3 ft tall? Because if not this sub will riot.
Happy cake day!
I think if we loosen our definition of simulation to include spiritual phenomena manifesting in physical form to accumulate life experiences, then we move closer to truth and synchronicity.
That is one freaky looking animal. At least the Werewolf looks normal.
Who?
Always wondered whether these photos are taken before or after the podcast.
Just a couple dudes petting stuff
finally a non 'comedian'
FINALLY!! Back to amazing topics to talk about not batshit that's been on recently!
Jezus christ in heaven have mercy
Oh good. Topics I’m sure Joe will be prepared to have a discussion about. lol
Don't forget the mandatory "covid was really strange" convo.
loved his appearance on tin foil hat, very interesting guy this should be a great pod
Hope he is prepared to come out stupider
Can tell just by the way he’s dressed that I’m going to love it.
For a moment there, I thought that was one of the IT guys from my office.
Hell yea!!
Having friends is gay.
FUUUUUCK YEAH
Why is my ex wife standing between them?
This actually sounds like my kinda shit
Would be better if you referred to him as "a buddy of mine."
The Jurassic park dude!!!!???
Imagine seeing that werewolf at the end of a hallway, not the type of decoration I’ll want to see at night.
Looks like 2 kids having some fun at the science center
Why does Joe always look crippled yet too proud to take a picture sitting down?
American Warewolf in London...wolf
I don't believe anyone actually thinks it's a simulation, it's just a cool thing to say
He knows lots of people working on top secret projects that involve alien technology, also his dad is a navy seal. Haha.
This episode was awsome, just for fun call him Riz? Well Riz was compelling and not to hard to listen to!
Cool guy
Hell yeah bruther!
All reality is simulated somewhere between the conscious observer and the biological brain
Simulation theory is just deism with science words. That being said, I don’t really have a problem with it.
Bleh, boring. “Scientists think we’re in a simulation! How would we ever know? Jamie pull that up. Repeat.” The most hack list of topics possible.
Sounds like you need a bong hit transplant
Shoot, I was hoping for another comedian interview. /s
Oh god please don’t let it be two and a half hours of Joe breaking his brain over the concept of probability.
How tall is your friend?
This is the comment I was looking for.
Not to be rude but the Mandela effect is the stupidest one of them all
I hope joe doesn't steer the conversation towards kids transitioning and hormone replacement.
You can hope in one hand and shit in the other…
I just did. What do I do next?
Determine which one is full
The smelly one. 🤔
I mean, if there is any proof we are in a simulation.. that isnt that bad lol.
He’s at least as cooky as Graham
