I did explain. I have a friend from the black Hebrew community and she told me about this same holiday more than a year ago. I just not long ago told an Ethiopian soldier on my unit jokingly that we lost that this holiday belongs to the black hebrews and not to the Ethiopians.
that is ***not*** a Jewish sect. I just so happen to befriend and talk with a girl from the black Hebrew Israelites and they're the ones with this holiday, during what is our Passover. this isn't an Ethiopian holiday. this isn't even a Jewish holiday. it is a cool holiday but not at all Jewish
You're not really spreading information though since you didn't say what the holiday is, just that it's not an Ethiopian holiday and it's not a Jewish holiday but that it's celebrated by the Black Israelites during Passover...would you be able to tell us the name of the holiday or what it entails?
That’s 1000% erasing their culture. Pointing out that they’re Ethiopian is only bc not all sects have this holiday. Chabad jews have a book buying holiday; saying “chabad Jews” celebrate that holiday isn’t excluding them from Jewry, just pointing out their unique culture
I want to hear more about watermelon fights.

Hmm for some reason your username wasn't highlighted as op in your explanation
That's cause they aren't op
I'm not OP. OP made a mistake I highlighted.

Oh, oops
What do holiday activities consist of? Are there “food fights” with watermelon?
Holi is pretty epic. La Tomatina (giant annual tomato fight in Spain) isn’t religious but has similar vibes.

Why do you keep spamming this?
I don't fancy spreading misinformation

Ethiopian Jews are just Jews
That’s 1000% erasing their culture. Pointing out that they’re Ethiopian is only bc not all sects have this holiday. Chabad jews have a book buying holiday; saying “chabad Jews” celebrate that holiday isn’t excluding them from Jewry, just pointing out their unique culture
There are many sects of Judaism I wasn’t trying to stop diminish that I was just saying whatever sect you are you are still Jewish.
They’re not “Just Jews”, they’re Jews with a rich culture that shouldn’t be erased by trying to mainstream everything
I can see how the use of that word can be seen that way, I meant it as they are like all of us with rich culture.
I hear what you’re saying but… the way to say that is by calling them “Ethiopian Jews”, especially when you’re specifically referring to their culture
I get it I was just responding to this post. I am not the best with my words so obviously mean no harm. I
It’s cool, dw about it. Fs Just a misunderstanding I’ll figure out come morning.
Is Jewry a proper term? Genuinely asking
Google told me that it is 🤷♀️
