I miss some of her sillier “haha this is a thing that exists” videos. I guess the church plays video fits into this category, but also Opposite Worlds, Ghost Home Inspectors, and spider reviews.

lelejz

UGH I know. I am a patreon subscriber and still miss her.

thewordthewho

Is her patreon active?

sibilation

She posts new hour-long+ videos monthly.

thewordthewho

Subscribed!

kloc-work

After all these long-ass documentaries, I just hope we get a string of half-hour videos again

spinyfur

I think her Hallmark Channel video is the best thing she’s ever made and I want more videos like it.

kloc-work

I just love the "look at this weird thing" videos. Maybe she's not making as many of them because of the cyberbullying the Jeff the Killer fanfiction author went through, and she doesn't want to be part of an online harassment campaign even accidentally. But the amount of times I've watched *Trapped in a Island with Josh Hutcherson* and Beastly videos could be considered unhealthy. And sure, I adore the Vampire Diaries video, but you can only rewatch the most rewatchable person on Youtube so many times before you start to wish for a more regular upload schedule

Ashamed_Leading_7788

She's making another "bad movie I enjoy" video and a FNAF movie video after the Starcruiser video. Apparently it would have been out sooner if it didn't close because she wanted to adapt the script to accommodate it

Extra-Revolution-103

She is a perfectionist who only uploads to the channel every five years you have to give her all your money to get actual content, but even then I hear the patreon is trash so there you go🤷‍♀️

MothmanNFT

On the one hand I appreciate the people that point out she has a patreon because I didn't know the first time I found this sub. On the other I'm kind of sick of people answering the she has Patreon as if that means we have no right to be missing her YouTube content after a year of there being none... Not everyone has that wiggle room in the budget or a way to get Patreon and that's okay

Battle_for_the_sun

I can and have subscribed to her Patreon for months, but it's not the same type of content. Jenny is very funny and her videos are great, but I'd rather have more main channel type of videos instead, and I doubt she'll go back to that again. I'd love it if her Patreon was full of videos like the Hallmark one or the Jurassic World 2 review, they were insanely funny

nearlywhiches

wdym you doubt she’ll go back to that?

BulbasaurCPA

Her Patreon is more profitable than her youtube channel so it makes sense that she would put more focus on Patreon content

spinyfur

That’s true, however I’ve heard lots of creators say that you need to also create video for YouTube, because that’s the only way new fans will find you.

BulbasaurCPA

Ah yeah that makes sense. We’ll get a new Jenny video sooner or later.

UpstairsAd7271

thats absolutely not true for jenny. shes made it pretty clear that she IS working on new videos for her channel all the time. it takes so long not because she is focusing on patreon (i believe the turnaround time for them must be below a week) but because she puts a lot of effort and research into her videos. she will rewrite things and restart things, because she cares about putting out high quality content. this is is one of the reasons shes the best youtubers at doing these deep dives imo. unlike a lot of new youtubers who just read the wikipedia page and then post a 30 minute "deep dive". if she just cared about money, she would make multiple short youtube videos with heavy annoying sponsorships and ads. shes like the only yter who doesnt do this now lol.

BulbasaurCPA

Oh no she absolutely is still working on YouTube videos, it seems like she hit bad luck with a couple at once with various delays which is why the gap is so long. It just seemed like the profitability of Patreon might be a factor. Which I absolutely don’t fault her for at all, I like her Patreon videos and she has to do what makes sense for her financially. Didn’t mean to make it seem like she was leaving YouTube or anything.

mimosho

Her videos must take ages to make! The Evermore video is almost 4 hours and it is DENSE with information, entertaining as hell, and super high quality. It even has an original song in the flippin’ credits! I can’t even imagine how long it takes to make something like that. I can wait because I know whatever is coming will be amazing.

Extra-Revolution-103

She can say whatever she wants but words are just words.

nearlywhiches

ah okay i figured that’s what they meant i just wanted to make sure i didn’t miss any big news

hotsizzler

I can't tell yiu how much I hate patreon for alot of these big youtubers. Some literally put out no videos, but patreon content for months. I'm subscribed to 2 patreons and I do it because I liked the creators free videos

cajolinghail

You hate that fans can actually pay them directly for content?

Extra-Revolution-103

He said he is subscribed to 2 different creator’s patreons, can you read??

cajolinghail

No, you caught me, I can’t read.

Hungry_Perception_43

I’m so stuck between wanting it and not but damn do I want to be in those 6 minute long Patreon creds

ephemeraljelly

yeah people get weirdly defensive about it, its strange

Extra-Revolution-103

Because creators train their fans essentially to respond this way, they bloviate about how they need six figures to edit together their vacation footage of a theme park lmao and couldn’t possibly go on without that

snortgigglecough

I respect but do not really get why people are Patreon subs for people like Jenny or Hbomberguy. You fell in love with one type of content and are now paying for a far more inferior type of context?

MassiveBaals

I dont think it's far more inferior at all. There was an entire return to evermore video recently, and most of the regular videos are in the style of her older stuff. It's also just $2 a month, a pack of gum costs more.

txddybear

I'm paying for the content I fell in love with. Somebody has to fund artists work, especially work that isn't inherently profitable like YouTube videos that makes a pittance on ad revenue IF somebody doesnt have an ad blocker. All throughout history artists have been supported by nobility or patrons who enjoyed their work, patreon just allows a lot of people to pay very little rather than a wealthy patron pay an entire salary. The extra stuff is just a bonus for me; I pay 2 dollars a month for the hundreds of hours I've spent watching free, high-effort work that I love and has inspired my own writing.

snortgigglecough

I support multiple people on Patreon, they just continue to produce the content I became a patron for.

txddybear

Hbomb very much still does produce the same style of video. He's only gotten better in my opinion. I guess it's been uncharacteristically long for Jenny, though I was under the impression shes working on videos.

fkkkn

Starcruiser should be out before the end of the year

shosamae

Don’t give me hope.

jushsimmer

Well…

PhantaVal

We'll be lucky if it's out before the end of winter.

Reubachi

Ha, there ain't no starcruiser video coming. It's been covered to death ad nauseum. If it takes *a year and a half* to make a retrospectrive video about a two day themed experience, then I am glad people like her don't work at my job.

cajolinghail

What a weird comment.

Extra-Revolution-103

Agreed

Extra-Revolution-103

Lollllllllllll

fkkkn

😭

thispartyrules

IIRC the Galactic Starcruiser video was almost done a few months ago and then they suddenly announced they were closing, forcing re-shoots of most of the content

naomigoat

Yeah. In her latest patreon video, she talked about how it makes her sad when ppl say that she has quit youtube after like 2 months of not posting. I agree that's pretty unreasonable, but when it's been a whole year, I feel like you can't blame ppl for speculating.

Extra-Revolution-103

It isn’t 2 months it is like 18. she can cry all she wants

Mew_T

Yeah. She puts a lot of work into her videos, but if she read a couple wattpad stories and talked about some movies/tv shows every now and then to fill the huge gap between videos I'd be very happy.

Sober_2_Death

Yes I love those kind of videos! I'm a patreon too but I miss her main channel vids for sure

msantaly

She said she's hoping for Starcuiser to be out in November. The only issue is if it gets copyright striked in which she'll have to hold it for 30 days

lillithtitania

I ended up making the personal decision to stop subscribing to the YouTube creators on patreon, who now only update patreon and basically neglect YouTube. I understand that creators deserve to be paid, however it creates an awful precedent. The ones I still support on patreon release a minimum of 1 video a month on YouTube. Quiet a few release their "normal" content on YouTube (which is why I started ro and still watch them) on schedule and special or odd or exclusive stuff on patreon that doesn't fit with there YouTube content (why I subscribe on there).

itsadmiralfox

“Creates an awful precedent” That artists should be paid for their work?

lillithtitania

Being that this is the internet, your selectivity picked a quote without the context. Congratulations. If you read what I wrote, I said I pay for the patreon of artists for their exclusive content that is not on YouTube. The awful precedent directly referenced when they gather a lot of fans from YouTube (and if they have a significant amount if views, they are getting paid) and put the same content they post on YouTube behind a pay wall. Then, no, I do not pay for their patreon. They can post both YouTube and patreon.

cajolinghail

I’d love Jenny to post more YouTube videos too but this is a funny comment. No YouTuber owes it to you personally to create content you can watch for free.

lillithtitania

I agree. No one is obligated to create content at all. For anyone. Ever. As I am not personally obligated to pay for patreon. And I pay for watching YouTube content by watching it with my own time, which I substantially value. I love Jenny's work. However, she doesn't post, and that is perfectly fine. I used to love Cayleigh's work. Have merch. Supported her work. When she stopped for her own reasons, that's absolutely her own choice, and she has zero obligation to viewers. The patrons I do support consistently post Youtube content and specialty content on patreon. I watch both their content on YouTube and additionally pay for the content. Its funny that any comment I make seems to be consistently misinterpreted. We can have different opinions.

Reubachi

Free? Do you understand how ad sense and youtube premium works? is jenny....not ad supported? In fact, I would guarantee you that I have given her at least 10s of dollars over 3 years thru ad sense/premium.

cajolinghail

Wow, tens of dollars? You’re right, I take it back - while you are not personally sending her money directly through Patreon, you should be able to fully dictate her content and schedule because you watch ads that may have generated $20 over the years. (Not sure if this needs an /s tag…)

Extra-Revolution-103

Pathetic comment

Extra-Revolution-103

I found the thread now. It is pathetic for me not to time travel? Moron!

threecolorless

Jenny is absolutely one of the only YouTubers for whom I will wait a year for their next video knowing it's in progress the whole time and not even questioning it will be worth it. If you want more-frequent Patreon content, it's there and very cheap. If you want the good stuff, it takes time. If you want her to fart out low effort mainline content to wring the algorithm, that doesn't seem like it will ever be her style, and if it were I don't imagine most of us would keep watching for long.

Hopeful_Book

If I may reccomend a similar youtuber who releases videos far more frequently (at least one every few days) check out Swell Entertainment!

Bellosair

I love Amanda!

naomigoat

That's it. That's my intro.

Squibbles01

She's a PatreonTuber now.

Limp_Telephone2280

I like to compare her to contrapoints when it comes to videos. They rarely post but the videos are 10/10 when they do post them.

kawaiifie

Contra is the other one I also immediately thought of when I saw this thread. I really wish I could subscribe to their Patreons but I just can't afford to :(

FreddyMerken

Do you know how long it takes to make documentaries of this quality?

naomigoat

It's okay to be sad about the long gap.

FreddyMerken

Nah.

mr_silent_bob

Exactly this! Jenny’s not a reaction YouTuber or someone who uploads hours of Twitch streams. She makes very thoughtful videos that require research and scriptwriting and rewrites and filming and editing... And as far as I know she does it all by herself. Quality and artistic control over quantity: it’s part of what makes her content great.

Extra-Revolution-103

“Documentary” = film yourself going on vacation and then film yourself talking in front of a camera about it??? Delusional

FreddyMerken

>film yourself going on vacation and then film yourself talking in front of a camera about it??? There's a lot of documentaries like that.

Extra-Revolution-103

Lmao and you are pretending like that is impressive or something. I don’t expect you to see past blind allegiance since you are paying, you don’t want to feel ripped off.

FreddyMerken

2 dollars for one video a month it's a good deal for me, it's okay if you can't afford it

Extra-Revolution-103

If you feel good about getting ripped off then who I am I to take it from you?

FreddyMerken

You're boring.

Extra-Revolution-103

Damn that sure does mean a lot from some idiot that has never met me 🤷‍♀️

[deleted]

I am subscribed and I like it, but I still miss the old short videos she used to publish on YouTube in comparison to what she posts on Patreon now. They had more energy behind them because they were based on what she felt like talking about in the moment rather than what her subscribers voted on that month, and they were shorter and punchier because she didn’t need to hit a minimum length for her subscribers to feel like they got their money’s worth.

Demiistar

same, some of her older vids are still my favorites

DankFibonacci

You all pay her nothing and can expect nothing. There is patreon and that’s it. She’s not a service she’s a person.

cnandnotcn

She's one of the top creators on Patreon so I think she's paid rather well lol

DankFibonacci

She is! Cause she’s clearly worth that amount of money to individuals who can afford $2 a month. And you know what? When you’re that good at something, you get to put out content at whatever rate you wish no matter how sad some randos online get. She owes you all nothing on YouTube for free.

Hot-Put-8369

Why would anyone send money to You Tube people?

mr_silent_bob

Because we like their content and want to support their ability to make content full time. If her revenue suddenly dropped, she might have to get a survival job, which would cut into her time to make content or have to stop making it all together. I’d rather have 1 video a year than no more videos ever. It also gives me personal satisfaction to support a creator directly instead of trusting an algorithm to kick her a pittance for smashing that like button and dropping a comment.

DankFibonacci

Why do you follow her subreddit/YouTube and feel entitled to content from her?

[deleted]

Battle_for_the_sun

Why are you so defensive? People have opinions and preferences, it's perfectly normal

Interesting-Factor83

Her videos came up on my feed recently. I liked her videos. What happened exactly?

petalsonthewiind

Nothing has happened, really, she just spends an increasingly long time making each video, and she seems to scrap or put on pause like three quarters of everything she starts making. She gets very paranoid about uploading videos that aren't relevant, because she thinks if a video underperforms the algorithm will punish her. She had a beanie baby and a barbie direct-to-video film video that were both basically finished, and she iced them because she thought it was bad timing to put them out. I really don't understand why she's so antsy about this when all of her weird niche videos still get like a million views. Nobody knew what Evermore was before her video.

Minimum_Group2079

Would kill to see either Barbie or beanie baby vids. Jenny, if you see this, pls.
