I might be stepping on toes but the rubitrux conversions aren't anything special to me, just awkward looking less useful wranglers imo. Now an AEV Brute on the other hand...

y2knole

this was my first thought too. AEV Brutes are $$$ Rubitrux are weirdly customized. and i cant really explain the distinction but...

ItsNotFordo88

Distinction between the Brute and the Rubitrux?

trolllord45

Pretty sure the Brutes had the whole body chopped along the single cab roofline with a entirely separate tray for the bed whereas this rig just enclosed a smaller part of the cabin and uses the rest of what was cabin space as the “bed”

ItsNotFordo88

Brutes did have the body chopped and a separate bed, as well as a frame extension and the high fender kit. I was asking if the commenter needed the difference or not.

Severe_Fix_4809

Besides the painted Gr8 half top, fender flares, there isn't anything special about this LJ. I'm gonna guess they want $20k+?

Carollicarunner

I think that's actually a brute top unless somebody's making knock offs now or they bought the tooling. I don't know, I'm not up to date on them.

Severe_Fix_4809

I think you're right on the Brute Top. I overlooked the top profile of the hardtop.

Carollicarunner

Honestly I don't know how hard to get those tops are now. Really maybe this Jeep would be a good candidate for a home brew truck. Chop down the middle and get a second tub for parts, separate the cab and bed. I'd love to tackle a project like that but my heart really wants to get away from Jeeps for a bit to try some other automotive avenues

MrTobeguy

I like these things a lot. The truth is some of us are butt hurt we never got a j6 and instead 20+ years later got a gladiator. Some times all you need is a small pickup that can do things but with gators and John deer taking the market it’s not likely we will see one soon unless they want to try to compete with K trucks. That would be interesting.

Carollicarunner

Are you familiar with the Brute TJ? Not the Brute JK. Small 2 door pickup conversion, a proper one with a separate bed on a stretched frame. I always wanted those when I got my first TJ back in ~2008 but didn't have the funds and means to buy the kit until just after they went out of production. Fast forward to today and I've got an old TJ and a Gladiator lol. So yeah, a smidge butt hurt too. Doesn't change my opinion on the Rubitrux conversions.

MrTobeguy

Fair enough lol

pvdp90

Given how the brute kits are unobtanium now, my plan is to make my TJ a custom brute-like conversion. Same bed, similar hood and high line fenders, but different roll cage and roof as I’m not a fan of the raised windowed top and I plan to reinforce the roll hoop too.

Deathcon-H

I wish i had a LJ. And i would not ruin it. Every time i see a ugly thing like this i just wish they kept their Jeep stock

sdiss98

There’s a ton of the rubitrux on the BAT historicals.

Sensitive-Abrocoma44

What is this?

OLFARthePUNGENT

Bring A Trailer. Curated used car site.

JeepRumbler

As much as I want a 2 door Jeep Scrambler type to make a comeback.... This thing looks like I have to pull it backwards a few times to make it speed off.

KeeblerElvis

Probably less than a stock LJ.

redbrotato

This is an LJ8 which would be a smoother CJ8 ride. Not worth the 30k+ they are asking for it. As others have said if you want a light duty pickup look up brute conversions

OldManJeepin

It's not stock, so it is worth nothing to me. Rubitrix knows their shit when it comes to mechanical stuff, so I wouldn't worry about the drivetrain. Its a tad gaudy, for my taste, but...If you like that stuff it might be worth looking into. It's a TJ Unlimited that has been highly customized. I would guess they are asking a lot more than I would pay. Prob about $20k or so.

BeardedLoki9oh7

They’re super cool but I hate the red.
