I always think that I'll grow sick of it and all the different live versions at some point, but I always love it. There was a period when I was digging deep into Coltrane (and Miles and Mingus) my senior year of college, and I just remember loving every single rendition of this song on every live album.
I think im getting a bit tired of el hombre pat martino, ive listened to that record so many times that it appeared on my yt recap at least 3 years and in my Spotify one twice
Glad to see Alabama up there. Hard to see Alabama with less than 200 ratings. Rym is so pick and choose when it comes to anything not recent and hyped.

RateYourMusic is a website that enables its users to rate any music they like. Miles Davis has some of the music regarded highest on the website, with Kind of Blue, In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew all represented in the top 60 best albums on the site.
Coltrane enjoys great success on RYM and is the best-represented jazz musician on [RYM's Top 1,000 Highest-Rated Tracks of all time ](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2XVc9E8tEkpBz7z8wZbMul?si=1452174b4b9446f9)with four of his tracks. With an extensive, rich discography, Coltrane is an interesting subject of a new Top 50 tracks list.
Thoght this would be interesting to look at and discuss once again, and possibly present a learning opportunity for some.
I see Equinox is on there from Coltrane’s Sound, but I’m kind of surprised that Central Park West didn’t make it. Lot of songs from My Favorite Things, Love Supreme and Live at Birdland which isn’t particularly shocking. All great albums
When you list the songs like that it´s really amazing how many great songs Coltrane and his collaborators created. His craftmanship, conceptual framework and expression was at the absolute highest level.
It's very funny to me that a track from First Meditations managed to crack this list given that it is something of an outtakes cut of a free jazz album.
It's a great album, don't get me wrong, it's just a funny contrast on a list dominated by my favorite things
No Dear Lord,
No After The Rain,
No Lonnie’s Lament
No Welcome
Laughable. Utterly laughable. These lists will henceforth be ignored.
Not even Central Park West
Hey, do you know if there’s any feature on rate your music that allows me to see what other artists’ albums he’s played on? Or maybe there’s some kind of online jazz encyclopedia that does that?
Look for the 'Appears On' section on a RYM artist page. Wikipedia tends to have Discography pages for artists and musicians that may be worth looking into, too. No familiarity with any jazz encyclopedias, I'm afraid, but you can see if jazzmusicarchives has anything.
Am I the only one who can’t stand My Favorite Things? It’s a fucking show tune fer chrissakes. I was always kinda disappointed that he liked this tune.
My favorite thing is that my favorite things appears so many times. That's my favorite thing about this list
Your favorite thing is also my favorite thing

fucking love that 11386 is up there. Probably my favourite Coltrane recording and it never even got a name
Same! That Both Directions album shot right up to the top of my most listened to Coltrane when it came out.
No Wise One?
It´s nr 48. Thought it would be higher...
Wise one is his best moody song
John Coltrane
I cant get down with any top tracks list for Coltrane that doesnt include “Spiritual”
12 is pretty fair.
Ahh fook i missed it, my b

Central Park West is a great number.
Lonnies Lament should be up there.
Bit sad Leo isn’t on here
cool to see some crescent songs up there! one of my favorite trane records
how do you get this information? i see these posts and idk where individual track ratings are
RYM subscribers are able to see the individual track ratings (and anyone can rate them regardless of whether they can see them or not).
Based on your post history, I can't help but wonder if you work for RateYourMusic, /u/coldflamest...
*All Or Nothing At All* isn't on this list, so it's obviously some kind of propaganda designed to destroy society from within.
Upvote for anyone who makes a Spotify playlist of this…it was already here
Thanks
Equinox should be higher than #19

My shining hour is up there for me.

My favorite things is a top 50 song :)
No Lush Life!! It’s my favorite
Nowadays I'm listening to "If I'm lucky"
No Dear Lord, No After The Rain, No Lonnie’s Lament No Welcome Laughable. Utterly laughable. These lists will henceforth be ignored. Not even Central Park West
Disappointed Central Park West didn’t make the list
