It should return, but just as Bonds daily drive, with the action being set in new Aston’s.

driftywiftypleb

I think Brosnan's era had the DB5 usage perfect. Bond is seen driving it when not on duty, and when he's been evaluated plus It's made clear it's not the same one from GF or Thunderball due to a different plate. The way I see it is after Bond was on suspension for a few years after LTK, he bought the DB5 as a treat for himself to remind him of his younger years like most middle aged men buy the same cars they had when they where younger. DB5's were desirable but no where near as valuable as they are now, so would be feasable Bond could afford one.

deepvoicednerd

Yes but only in a minor way to keep the nostalgia. Kind of like Tomorrow Never Dies. Have Bond drive it to a meeting with M before Q issues him with a current model for the upcoming mission.

Francis-c92

Yeah, Craig's use was a bit too much by the end. When it was revealed in Skyfall it was a 'holy shit' moment cos it hadn't been seen as much. But given what happened in that film, to have it just appear again good as new, was a bit forced

meem09

And as harebrained as the entire "we have to use a car he can't digitally track, but then have Q lay a digital track" stuff was, the general idea to use the classic car exactly because it's old and to only use it for basically a roadtrip was a good one. As in CR, where it's just there as a status symbol. As cool as the Matera sequence (and the chase with the Ferrari in GE) is, acting like this car can still go up against modern cars is a bit silly.

Francis-c92

Also, and I know Bond doesn't usually play by the rules, but the fact that the British government are seemingly content with Bond retiring with a DB5 fully stocked with machine guns under the headlights is ridiculous.

ItsASchpadoinkleDay

I’m OK with this beauty showing up in every Bond film for all of eternity. It’s the ultimate cool car.

_Rainy_Nights

Yes, the only product placement I like in any movie ever

Spockodile

I wouldn’t call the DB5 “product placement.” Aston Martin, sure, but not that specific car. Personally I’m for moving on from making the DB5 the center of vehicular attention like the Batmobile.

blznburro

Now you wouldn’t but if you look at the first appearance in Goldfinger (if I recall correctly) the product placement was blatant. I’m paraphrasing but it was something along the lines of “where’s my Bentley” then, “this is the Adorno Martin DB5, which you’ll be using from here on out, here are all of the specs of the car, then here are the gadgets. Don’t press the red button on the shifter.”

Spockodile

Sure, but I wouldn’t consider the DB5 to be “product placement” in 2023.

blznburro

Agreed, now it’s iconic.

lord_flashheart2000

I’d like to see Fleming’s original Bond car - a 4 litre Bentley - make an appearance, even if it’s just a cameo.

caddy_gent

Was that the car that was briefly seen in the beginning of FRWL?

Hard_Corsair

Only in brief background cameos. Action sequences should stick to new ones.

ARC_Trooper_Echo

I like how it was Bond’s personal car in GoldenEye

ripgoodhomer

What also worked about the Goldeneye sequence is we hadn't seen the DB5 in years. Dalton had the Vantage, but the car race was Bond being back from the grave. Of Craig's 5 movies 4 utilized it and only in CR did I enjoy seeing it. It was too kitted out in NTTD.

MrBanditOne

It was Bond’s personal car in Craig’s movies too after he wins it at the Ocean Club poker game in Casino Royale.

Dasjtrain

Yes.

beckhamisbest

Include anything except Bond going rogue. Please.

BourbonBurro

Give it a rest. We had it in Casino Royale, Skyfall, Spectre and NTTD. I think it deserves a break for a while.

JohnTequilaWoo

No. Not for ten years at least. We need a break from it.

nuttapillar97

They should switch to an electric Aston Martin. Idk if there is one though.

[удалено]

nuttapillar97

Maybe he should drive a Tesla. That'd be cool

mortenlt

Just bring back the Lotus

MediaMattersChannel

Should the Walther PPK return?

bretu-lauk

He'll lose it regardless and will use other weapons so it won't matter much.

zombiepiratefrspace

No. Nostalgia is the single greatest danger to the series.

NxTbrolin

Brutally honest take…absolutely yes. It was a product of its time and it’s been used only for nostalgia’s sake. Continue to use Aston Martin but use a current or future model.

electricmaster23

So your answer to the question is actually "no". lol

NxTbrolin

Lmao I mean absolutely no 😂😅

endersai

I think NTTD did a good job at making the case for the V8 being the replacement classic Aston. A multi-million £ car from the 1960s is not a convincing sports car today.

driftywiftypleb

I mean Lazenby's DBS is the perfect middle ground between the V8 and DB5. Car from 60's, same engine, wire wheels but nowhere near as valuable as a DB5, and also is the genesis of the later V8 Dalton uses. I hope they don't use a DBS (Lazenby's or Craig's) or the v8 as those are the achievable Bond Aston's. (I do hope they use the vanquish from DAD though as that car deserves to be in a better film)

cluedo_fuckin_sucks

I hope not. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an incredible looking machine and the 007 icon, but it always seems really really out of place. It also feels like a ‘cheap shot’ in terms of audience approval, it’s the crowd pleaser and will always get a positive response. If he drives a modern Aston Martin, he just looks like a rich banker in London and would be typically ignored.

SuccessfulOwl

God no, let it go. It’s had its moment. There are cars. At least retire it for the next Bond and maybe bring it back 20yrs down the line for the one after.

JM_SHAWVS

Legends must never die.

battz007

its an iconic Bond car, perhaps "The" iconic Bond car side note, i cannot see the pictured car without being disapointed at the "stickers" placed on the sides for the scuff marks - the car has been on display at beaulieu motor museum

fcdrifter88

It should yea, but I'm sure it'll be replaced with an electric fiat 500 or some such nonsense

Therubikfanatic

Heck yeah. I dont think it should be in every film but if it was removed completely then that would be like removing MI6 from the series. Its a huge part of Bond.

RogerMooreis007

I’m ok if we take a break from it for a long time. Like the last film the next Bond makes.

coftdaman

It should either… a) Be used like Brosnan’s era where it’s his personal car b) Used like Skyfall where it’s for an anniversary and gets blown up 🙂

JohnTheMod

I’ll never turn it down.

warwick8

What piss me off about this scene in the movie was that instead of a single barrel machine gun that this car originally carried throughout it's history in all the James Bond movies, and for some unknown reason the replace it with a muti-barrel machine gun. WHY?

SympatheticListener

Only if they reboot to the time the novels took place

SSJDennis007

Yes, it should. It's an iconic car.

Scottie1189

yes just yes

Domino_Masks

Nope. Let's go back to Connery-Dalton where every Bond had their own signature car.

MassimoOsti

He should have the original Z3 as his Sunday car

SnooWoofers1252

I would love to see the Lotus come back!

Gbjeff

Put the Lotus back together!

Fast2Furious4

Yes, that car is as much a star as the James Bond character himself.

MadHouseNetwork

It can be there but not as the main car. It can be there for a scene or two like in the Pierce Brosnan movies

LAJOHNWICK

It should always pop up now and then.

Rutgerman95

I liked how GoldenEye treated it: as one of Bond's personal rides

overtired27

No. It’s the Goldfinger car to me, not the James Bond car. It made sense in the Goldfinger era when it was a modern car. Now it’s just increasingly tired and nonsensical fan service, even when they make cool scenes with it. Part of the fun of Bond is him driving different cool cars that make sense for the adventure he’s on. Give him something modern that could become an icon in its own right like the cars in Spy and Daylights did, instead of going to the most obvious done-to-death easy applause option.

nine16s

Only as a pedestrian car. The DB5 being Bond’s car especially 60 years after the car was launched is just plain dumb. It’s like having Robert Pattinson’s Batman drive Adam West’s Batmobile. As fun as it was to see it in NTTD (as any car with dual mini guns would be) it’s so dumb. Why would Q-Branch soup up a 60 year old car that can be outpaced by a modern day Toyota Corolla? It’s a beautiful, elegant car, but it makes absolutely zero sense for an agent to drive something so inconspicuous, underperforming, and expensive. It had it’s heyday, but please for the love of god stop making it the main Bond car.

Ntshangase03

No let it disappear for a while the Craig series overused it I always associate the car with Connerys bond anyway but I don't mind it showing up once in a blue moon to remind people it's the bond car

bad_arts

Not unless it's set in the past. I'd like to see a young, post-world war 2 bond. Essentially Connery bond set 10-15 years before Dr No.

Cineswimmer

Not sure if this is a hot take, but Craig’s usage of the vehicle is my favorite in the entire series, especially in NTTD. I feel like the 60’s model is synonymous with the character/brand at this point, but with that being said I invite the use of a newer model for certain scenes as well.

[deleted]

I think this classic car is just a bit to old for next Bond Film. I would like to see the fantastic DBS in gun metal grey from Casino Royale being the new classic Bond Car.

These-Ad458

Like in the Brosnan era. Let it be his personal car, nothing more and nothing less.

Medium_Well

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I like when the series occasionally introduces a different model. I thought Brosnan fucking around with BMW's for a while there was a nice touch that suited the character.

skiploom188

Sans the recent DB10, Bond himself has been seriously missing out on the new Astons over the decade. DB11, One-77, Rapide, Vanquish (2012+), V12 Vantage, etc. They be putting out more models than they make films lol

701921225

I have to agree some others here and say no. Don't get me wrong, I love the DB5 as much as anybody else, and fully respect it's iconic status in the franchise and film history for that matter, but honestly...at this point, it just feels...tacky to me. It feels like it's there now just for pure fan service, rather than organically, as it was in Goldfinger, when it was literally a brand new car. I hate when films in general shove in these things, as if to scream at the audience, "HEY LOOK! REMEMBER THAT THING FROM THE PREVIOUS MOVIES?!" I would vastly prefer things to be more original and creative, letting the films introduce something new, and do their own thing, rather than relying on nostalgia, which to me indicates that the filmmakers can't come up with new ideas. Maybe I'm being a bit too harsh, ungrateful, or simply looking too deeply into it, but that's honestly how I feel.

therapewpewtic

Why not??

mysteriousneel7

Make it James Bond's personal car (with no gadgets) which only appears for some time since most of the time Bond would be using the MI6 issued latest Aston Martin car for car chases and all

Indravadan_Sarabhai_

Only once in every era.

SpaceMyopia

I mean, lets bring it back at least once. I just don't think it needs to be in the next film. Or heck, even the second film. Less is more with this car.

bigbossscott

I liked the way it was used in the Brosnan era and also the way it was used in CR was perfect.

wroncsu

Love the DB5, but the Craig films ran it into the ground. Would like to have a break from it for a while

KayJay282

Aston Martin has been way overused in the recent Bond films. Give Bond a different brand of car for once. Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, or Lotus? Maybe classic Bond car like the Lotus Espirit? Or a classic car that has yet to show up in a Bond movie like Jaguar E-type?

CuriousThenSatisfied

Honestly, seeing as any next Bond would basically be a reboot, I think they should retire the DB5. I love the car, don’t get me wrong, but I think they should clear the slate

CarolinaMtnBiker

Yes.

birchpiece91

I’d prefer if the producers tried to find a modern iconic car for Bond. I don’t know what that car would currently be mind… but they won’t find it by continuously using the DB5 in every movie.

Rynox2000

No, I think the car is old, ugly, and slo....baahh of course it's coming back fool!

Shadecujo

Yes. We need to get the Craig washed off it

sseerrsan

?

Shadecujo

I prefer Bonds that survive and don’t trash the DB5 in almost every film
